quackeggtooth No, Darth Maul after being defeated by him asked to be killed, but the Emperor kept him alive and said he had other plans for him. That was the last that we seen Darth Maul in the canon. It was never said that he was killed. This all happened just before or during Episode 4 in the timeline, but because the Emperor died, we don't know happened to Maul after he became a prisoner. That's why he's still listed as the only Sith Lord still alive after episode 6, he doesn't even have an official death date. Now my speculation is that, Plagueis is now the master of Darth Maul. I really believe that Snoke in Episode 7 is Plagueis and has Maul behind the scenes doing something else, whether we see him or not is unknown.
I like how Count Dooku says that he is disappointed from Kenobi's skills with a lightsaber but Christopher Lee is impressed by the commitment that Ewan McGregor put on his character
In Episode 2 Dooku does say that. But during the Clone Wars and in Episode 3 especially in the novelisations Dooku was impressed and terrified of how much Obi-Wan improved in his Soresu form. In the extended universe Mace Windu tells a story about a sparring match between them and how his complete mastery of soresu is impenetrable and when he finally did get the upper hand he wasn’t sure if he really did or Obi Wan was just bored and let him.

Ngl but Disney saved Star Wars. Sure you might not like the Sequels, and you don't have to, but you have to admit that before Episode 7 came out Star Wars just wasn't being talked about anymore and the Sequels helped bring it back into the spotlight. @@charlieben3354 Oh boy you should just see the list of all named characters in the prequels and TCW. Nute Gunray actually has a quite big role in the story, so of course he has a name :)
minerbroEDI nope. Hayden Christiansen was pretty stale, but I will say he did a good job in jumper. The rest of the acting was good except for Palpatine being soooo clichéd.
TheDarkSider In my opinion, Hayden Christensen failed spectacularly (sorry, but I think Jumper sucked too), but Natalie Portman and Ewan McGregor were quite brilliant and almost saved the prequels
Jon Snow even though the movie was average, his most recent movie i watched on netflix starred Hayden and his performance was actually really good (outcast with Nicholas Cage). It was the terrible writing of George that destroyed the PT "your breaking my heart annie!" BTW i hope you come back soon! #JonSnowlives
This is why I still can't understand why people hated the prequels so much. Ewan put his heart and soul into becoming Obi Wan to do justice to Alec Guiness. I don't see any "stale" acting as any part of that. There was so much overlooked good to the prequels, all because nostalgic fans couldn't get over the use of more modern effects and one cheesy bit of comic relief.
***** How does it make no sense? Having watched the originals as a kid and the prequels too, I had absolutely no trouble following the story. The clone wars wasn't a debacle. It was mentioned one time in Episode IV, so it made perfect sense to include it in the prequels. To this day I have yet to find a legitimate argument against the prequels that didn't have to do with overly nostalgic fanboys who can't let go of the fact that Lucas decided to use more modern film practices and basically decided to do his own thing...Which is totally fucking fine, honestly.
+Maverick Hunter Zero 5 Reasons of the Top of my Head why the Prequels are Lousy 1. The love story between Anakin and Padme is awfully written, and to an extent acted. 2. Anakin as a whole is a whiny brat because Lucas couldn't think of a way to make him transition into evil. (which happens very abruptly I might add) 3. Jar Jar Binks' character has no redeemable features. He is pointless comic relief that has no purpose other than to be farted on and make jokes that 10 year old will find humorous. (not to mention he is built on nothing but stereotypes) 4. All of the pointless self-reference. So many plot holes were made, not only in the prequels but in the original trilogy as well. Not every character needed to have a backstory, or be shoehorned into relations with other characters. 5. The amount of political gibberish that was in them. The original films were fairly simple and straightforward. The prequels had so much going on that required constant exposition to understand. As a result many conversations existed only to explain things and further the plot that, which left very little time for character development. The films are not as bad as people say they are, but they are definitely bad and have a lot wrong with them. The problem comes from their director: George Lucas. Lucas is a imaginative genius who though up one of the most interesting and beloved stories of all time. He is however not a good director, or at least isn't anymore. He had only directed 3 movies prior to the prequels. The last one being "Star Wars: A New Hope" which he directed 19 years before the prequels. He simply isn't a good director as a result of nearly 2 decades of downtime, which is why the prequels have so many awful moments in them.
+Evan Schaefering This comment is perfectly summed up. Also, I think it's safe to say that when he got the technology to build entire worlds, he got lazy and used it as a crutch and not as a backdrop to telling a good story.
People that grew up with the OT had 20 years to imagine what Anakin Skywalker would have been like, what they saw didn’t match up - but it’s George’s vision, and I think Anakin is perfect in the PT. But I don’t blame people for being disgruntled
@@georgebrand9325 Any iteration of his character would have peeved a certain number of older fans. When expectations build for so long, disappointment is inevitable
Ewan is Obi Wan, Alec is playing an old Ewan McGregor. It sounds dismissive, but that's only because of nostalgia. Alec was never really interested in the role, Ewan lived it, molded it, made the prequels watchable. He was fantastic in every way.
+The1Floyd Thats unfair to say. Ewan was interested in the role BECAUSE of Alec. Alec had no previous Obi-Wan role to look up to. Heck, none of the actors really thought that Star Wars was gonna be such a hit before the movie came out. Its an unfair statement the one you are making, I rather see both as crucial moments that define the character.
Alec did believe in the role. He was inspiring others on set during New Hope to carry on and telling everyone how amazing the film would be. The problem was he got fed up of being known as Obi Wan that he started regreting it. But when casted he was very interested.
Hayden did a fantastic job as Anakin. People need to ignore the bullshit plot/script of Attack of the Clones and the famous sand rant. That was script-writers fault. Hayden himself played the part perfectly. But if you want my opinion, I prefer Anakin from The Clone Wars lol. Much more in depth.
What I love about Ewan's performance is he never tries to imitate Alec Guinness instead he plays him his own way but adds in certain motions and expressions which Guinness had in A New Hope which ties the two together and you can see him age into the Obi Wan we see in Ep 4
@@sampsongarrett I thought I remembered something about a Boba Fett standalone movie in 2020. I could be wrong but it'd be cool to finally see Boba Fett possibly act badass. The OT made him look like a bitch
The prequels suck crowd is motivated by the fact the prequels suck, not some irrational belief that every aspect of them is poison :) Ewan McGregor is unquestionably the standout redeeming element of the trilogy.

The perfect choice. He says “this is my last shot at making it match to Alec Guinness” but little did he know, all of these years later… he’d have his shot again
thepunkster90x The rumor mill seems to be pointing that way. The story goes that Ewan was up for the role of Dr. Strange, but Disney came in and said it couldn't be him (can't remember if stated or implied he'd be needed elsewhere). Given Disney's intervention and their ownership of both Marvel and Star Wars properties, the tie is that Obi-Wan is getting a spinoff, and Ewan's back at lead.
3:28 “I’m that bit closer to him now than I was in Episode 1, so this is my last shot to make it match up, to make it Alec Guinness.” Oh no it isn’t, Ewan 😁😁😁😁
The praise from Christopher Lee is an amazing thing to hear. Lee was on of the greatest actor I've ever seen grace the cinema and he always gave top mark to McGregor
Ewan McGregor was a much better Obi-Wan if you ask me. For a number of reasons but the biggest one is he actually wanted to play the role. Alec apparently didn't care much for it if my sources are correct.
+JoeDotPHP You can find letters he sent to people he knew (friends I think) during filming of episode IV. What he says about the film is very interesting. It's clear that he was not confident in it at all, and thought the dialogue was terrible. There are also his final thoughts of the film after the premier out there somewhere too.
Mr Niz Not really, 2001 had done space, and better, War of The Worlds had done lasers, war and explosions, Planet of the Apes had done space travel, The Day the Earth stood still had done aliens and mass annihilation. Also many things from the movie were lifted from other work.... It was an unknown cast, he liked Harrison Ford but didn't know the others. George Lucas had done little directing, the script was lose. It was a one man show. Some of the cast didn't get on. It was a shambles. Harrison Ford didn't even sign for all 3 movies like he was supposed to. He just didn't have faith in it.
The recent films have helped highlight this, definitely. Though I'd put The Force Awakens as better than Ep 1 and 2, but not as good as 3. The Last Jedi is complete crap altogether.

pikppa Considering the actor who plays him, why wouldn't you?! ;)
GroovyGamerGirl good argument xd
+pikppa yeah me too, its probably because we spend more time with him unlike in the original trilogy where most of the time hes a force ghost
John Paul De Los Santos True
+GroovyGamerGirl Ewan McGregor is my childhood hero but Alec Guiness towers in comparison to Ewan, he is a film legend.
Ewan McGregor was honestly one of the few good actors in the prequels. He didn't just play his role, he lived his role.
All good actors
minerbroEDI nope.
I agree comoletely, he's the one saving grace for the PT. He did a spectacular job of bringing Obi Wan full circle
Jon Snow
even though the movie was average, his most recent movie i watched on netflix starred Hayden and his performance was actually really good (outcast with Nicholas Cage). It was the terrible writing of George that destroyed the PT "your breaking my heart annie!"

@@jjfromthebigland781 dedication to the job
This is why I still can't understand why people hated the prequels so much.
Ewan put his heart and soul into becoming Obi Wan to do justice to Alec Guiness.
I don't see any "stale" acting as any part of that.
There was so much overlooked good to the prequels, all because nostalgic fans couldn't get over the use of more modern effects and one cheesy bit of comic relief.
Perfectly summed, I loved 2 and 3 especially for obi wan, the choreography and just generally seeing the jedi in their prime
*****
How does it make no sense? Having watched the originals as a kid and the prequels too, I had absolutely no trouble following the story.
The clone wars wasn't a debacle. It was mentioned one time in Episode IV, so it made perfect sense to include it in the prequels.
To this day I have yet to find a legitimate argument against the prequels that didn't have to do with overly nostalgic fanboys who can't let go of the fact that Lucas decided to use more modern film practices and basically decided to do his own thing...Which is totally fucking fine, honestly.
+Maverick Hunter Zero
5 Reasons of the Top of my Head why the Prequels are Lousy
1. The love story between Anakin and Padme is awfully written, and to an extent acted.
2. Anakin as a whole is a whiny brat because Lucas couldn't think of a way to make him transition into evil. (which happens very abruptly I might add)
3. Jar Jar Binks' character has no redeemable features. He is pointless comic relief that has no purpose other than to be farted on and make jokes that 10 year old will find humorous. (not to mention he is built on nothing but stereotypes)

"perfect" origin lol
Hayden played teen and young adult anakin perfectly prove me wrong
pro tip: you can't
I can’t change the truth.
People that grew up with the OT had 20 years to imagine what Anakin Skywalker would have been like, what they saw didn’t match up - but it’s George’s vision, and I think Anakin is perfect in the PT.
But I don’t blame people for being disgruntled
@@georgebrand9325 I agree, Hayden was perfect for Anakin.
He was fantastic in every way.
for sure
+The1Floyd Thats unfair to say. Ewan was interested in the role BECAUSE of Alec. Alec had no previous Obi-Wan role to look up to. Heck, none of the actors really thought that Star Wars was gonna be such a hit before the movie came out. Its an unfair statement the one you are making, I rather see both as crucial moments that define the character.
+Ricardo Gomez
look up alec guiness on wiki he did not believe in the force he is not OBI WAN!!
+Fenix Sabre An impostor? No it can not be!
Alec did believe in the role. He was inspiring others on set during New Hope to carry on and telling everyone how amazing the film would be. The problem was he got fed up of being known as Obi Wan that he started regreting it. But when casted he was very interested.
The best perfomances in the prequels:
1. Ian McDirmid as Palpatine
2. Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan
3. Christopher Lee as Count Dooku
Elliot Tanner 4. Hayden Christensen as Anakin
All British actors lol
Hayden did a fantastic job as Anakin. People need to ignore the bullshit plot/script of Attack of the Clones and the famous sand rant. That was script-writers fault. Hayden himself played the part perfectly. But if you want my opinion, I prefer Anakin from The Clone Wars lol. Much more in depth.
Samuel L Jackson as Mace Windu
Ian McDermott was the Emporer in the OT too
When I thought of a younger Obi Wan, this was EXACTLY it. Best casting choice ever.
What I love about Ewan's performance is he never tries to imitate Alec Guinness instead he plays him his own way but adds in certain motions and expressions which Guinness had in A New Hope which ties the two together and you can see him age into the Obi Wan we see in Ep 4

thepunkster90x The rumor mill seems to be pointing that way.

+Sam Brown Hmmm, perhaps because he like everyone else did not know if Star Wars would be a critical success or not.
Mr Niz Okay? I would have shared the same opinion. Star Wars was not organised at all during the development or early filming.
***** I'm just saying why Alec Guiness wasn't enthusiastic about Star Wars. Because it was a brand new concept.
I don’t care what people say the prequels are amazing
