Unless, you're someone who's capable of making hundreds of millions of dollars, I wouldn't complain about that. Let them take all those taxes. I would still be worth hundreds of millions, regardless. I can't possibly spend all that money in my lifetime, anyway. I don't gamble, I'm not into fashion, I don't do drugs, drink, or party, etc. So, having almost $400M is more than enough for me and my family.

Your missing the whole point. The game steals half back in a cash option penalty. Then the state and federal government Robb you. It should be mandatory that each state posts the exact winning amount if you take the cash option penalty and what you actually get after the taxes. Especially because the game has astromical odds.

It didn't take 3 weeks to come up with 400k. Lottery just wanted to collect interest on the full 1.4b for 3 weeks before sending it out.

The game steals more then half back. If you take the " cash option" The federal government gets 37% and then you state tax. Which very by state. If you take the annunity your payed the percentage of the lump sum for 29 years. So your fist payment would have probably been around 10 million before taxes. Then as the years go on you get more money per year depending on the interest rate. The lottery is quite a racket when you start looking into it.

I don't understand the people here complaining about the tax. Sure, they take a lot of it from the winnings. But, for investing a fraction to win $400M+ is not so bad at all.
