I just saw while checking winning Powerball numbers that the state of Oregon (my state) on the payout for winners, there is an additional 9% value tax ON TOP OF REGULAR 8% STATE AND FEDERAL TAX. I did not know this. What a bunch of greedy bastards. Would you believe Calif (and Delaware, plus a couple of other states) DOES NOT have a state lottery tax? You would think Calif would tax winnings. But they apparently don't. Go figure.
In Brazil, the lottery winners don't get exposed like in the USA. The names are kept in secrecy. I never would give interviews after winning hundreds of millions... i would fear for my life.
