Why is this edited version only 720p when the original streamed was 1080p? We need those extra pixels in order to make out the details of what is going on!
@@ronalddrake558 Well I just watched both. Ox got 1/2 boat length behind and then won in 2003. Oxford won in 2005 and I don't think were ever much behind (perhaps you meant a different year?) I did specify a complete boat length - once that happens and the lead boat can get in front of the other it seems to me there is little chance of recovery.
It's to do with water speed and currents - the water closer to the bend is known as 'slack water' meaning there is less stream so boats move a lot slower, even if the distance is far less. The coxing move earlier in the race was such a gamble because while it shortened the distance, the Cambridge crew were in what would be considered slower water. The Boat Race has these quirks due to the unusual nature of the course and Thames itself.
Let's not get into the silly habit of calling it 'The 'Men's' Boat Race... It's simply 'The Boat Race'. It has been for almost 200 years. There is a woman's boat race.. it's known as the woman's boat race.
Classy rowing from the light blues, and a proper throw of the dice on that ‘get out of the chop’ move.
Coxwains' resting HRs? Hell yes, I needed to know that.
Great race -- well done Cambridge. Nice coxing to gain the advantage.
That Frenchman made the difference! What a race!

"Let's push it!" What the hell do you think I'm doing here making balloon animals?
Cambridge University!!!
The Oxford cox sounds terrifying
8:26, one boat gets a full length ahead of the other and it's a forgone conclusion - they win! Has it ever been otherwise?
Oxford 2003 came from behind and in 2005 Cambridge did likewise!

Unless they sink!
@@missasinenomine Ah - I'll give you that! If you sink then you probably won't win however far ahead you were.
@@adrianwright8685 It happened once or twice. In the early 60s. I can remember seeing it on telly.
Cambridge❤
Cambridge uni rocks
Cambridge tout en contrôle dès le départ.
Un peu comme le golden team Rowing Lausanne à l’époque🤣
thought that Oxford won last year
Oxford didn't win a single race. Only won 1 last year. Time for a re-think!?
Where are olive and Mabel?
Why do they still say “ the light blues” when it is a mint green.
Really.
Say at 17.10…for Oxford why not shorten the distance, steer closer to the Surrey side and pass Cambridge? Rules?

You have to learn to swim first.
While I feel this is probably one of the elitist sporting events in the world, I find it entertaining, am I wrong?
women commentator..terrible.
Cambridge should have been penalised for causing obstruction multiple times.
We need 2 more teams involved here, these aren’t the best Universities anymore
Its a private race - challenge is between the 2 uni.s
Its a challenge race , only goes ahead when the loosing univercity renews the challenge , 👍
Those two women commentators were bickering the entire time. The one constantly disagreeing is super annoying.
Two women? One of them is a guy!

Who cares lmfao
Bored out of my mind just thinking about watching this. Can’t do it you’ve lost me.
Get in a boat sometime
