- Such an epic race by the bois and Colette! Pity the rain started pouring all cinematic and then the launch splash made my camera lens go soft.

The attention to detail with the audio is ridiculously good in this vid. Good job Eamon
This is so awesome… if they did something like this for Olympic races it’d be so hype
OMG, this is the answer right there! The IOC and various rowing bodies all lament that rowing is not spectator/TV friendly, no drama, etc.
Yet Eamon has single-handedly shown how it should be done!
Maybe, keep it untethered but accredited, so that freelancers can demonstrate the skill of a human hand.#agreed. Superb editing and field recording!!

Great POV, so cool to listen to the coxswain, this audio does a good job at showing how important the role of a coxswain is, great calls made, and great control of the crew and boat.
I’ve found that counts are counter productive. Athletes start to focus on the numbers and lose concentration on what matters.
That was fun to watch. Sound from US Coxswain and Brit commentator was a plus to hear both sides.
you're doing great work, been wanting to listen and watch like this for a long time
I appreciate that! Just trying to make the videos I would want to watch
Yeah I’ve always wondered how they cox at the elite level
I need her in my ear when I'm running, "1 GOOD, 2 YES, 3 WE'RE MOVING"
The audio design on this is awesome
This POV is insane ! Congrats on the sound of the whole video !
Fantastic work on audio! It was thrilling to watch! I wish all broadcasts were this immersive.
Seriously good! Have not seen - or heard - more intimate and riveting access. What the sport needs!
Friggin loved this! Great editing and awesome video!
The Brits are just light years ahead of the US in terms of technique and blade work.
3/4 length is barely a lightyear....
@@raman5329 I didn’t say power did I? Watch the U.S. men’s rowing teams from 1997-2004. Completely different animal.
Absolutely amazing sound mixing!
Yeah Brookes
It’s just missing “FOOTPLATE” in the background
Got goosebumps watching it. Awesome work!
Dude, thanks for sharing. This is great material.
A good video and great sound editing. Congratulations, Eamon. I was surprised at the scarcity of technical calls from the cox, and instead the use of repeated ten stroke pushes. Obviously this was part of their standard approach to racing, but it was not as though there weren't things that could be done better, technically, in the US boat. As I said, interesting.
Well at least in my experience, it's better in a race like this to avoid big changes and to just keep the stroke simple, big technical changes can ruin the rythem sometimes.
@@vip3rnb762 they’re very rarely big tech changes - just reiterating what has been practices hundreds of times in training.
Really loved the audio in this video. The interspersing of the mic'd up cox and the commentators was crisp + engaging.
outstanding job by the coach who's miked up.I myself am a coach with a boatrowing team for several years and I am inspired how it can also be done. Thank you!
The British coxswain looks so comfortable in comparison. Not a whole lot of unnecessary check. Anytime the US 8 had good speed and flow a power 10 was called. Two different leagues.
big up uk - been binging your stuff and it's incredible keep it up!
Cheers lad, was truly a great race to watch and capture!
Insane video - US coxing is so different to British coxing!
I thought the exact same! It sounds like there are multiple voices for the British cox! I wonder if he's doing a whole bit...
@@EamonGlavin There was a lot of counting being offered by the U.S. cox. I'd offer that this "style" of coxing is not necessarily what is taught, but it is all too commonly used. I've heard a much more narrative delivery, interspersed with some counting, at the national level in the past.
Fantastic work Eamon.
Excellent work Eamon, great content. Might have to share some of my recordings with you!
Ahhhh cheers Phelan, I really appreciate that! Would love that to the Nth degree!
This video could be used as a case study for sport psychologists interested in communication, flow, coordination, you name it. Definitely subscribing for more content!
Nice audio layering 👌🏼
Out here duckin n divin that audio left n right
Great content Eamon. Sorry I didn’t bump into you at Henley. Our daughter was in the Yale 8.
That was really interesting! Thank you
excellent sound production, dude!
GB was very smooth throughout the race...it paid...
Fantastic. Fantastic. Fantastic
Mens GB stroke is called Tom Ford, he went to my school!
Great work
American crew gets railed at Henley…a tale as old as time.
Sounds like a porno...
very niceley edited!
Amazing 👏🏽
Quite the coup, she really drove them hard, I could feel the pain
Loved that edit, this is how you build a rowing fanbase
Thought i was on a live Peleton class there
Amazing
Reminds me of our snake boat race
Fabulous content
Aww shucks
is there a video coming from your day at the bosban?
There will be one for each week this trip! This one was just much quicker to create than the others.
would love to see more UK stuff from you, I appreciate you're American and there is already more than enough content over there without the added expense of shooting here, but covering The Boat Race would be a good one, esp if you got access to the locker rooms/training sessions in the lead-up to the race.
Well I was actually at the Boat Race this spring! I’ve posted some short vertical videos from it. But I will be heading back to Henley this year and currently editing the video from last year
@@EamonGlavin brilliant, I missed those, looking forward to more!
Do you know what shell the Americans rowed in? I saw so many boats with the same decal on them during henley.
It's a Filippi shell
@@airplane109works6 it thought it was Hudson
@@danielbates7635 definitely a Filippi shell from Italy
Filippe vs Empacher, but all the boats are great. It’s the crew that counts
Eyes in the boat, US! Jesus! Stroke seat must have looked at the British boat 15x. Ridiculous.
🔥
Woah, the only thing about this video that isn't incredible is the US blade work.
Hey you be nice to my friends!
Who tf do you think you are? Let’s see you do this
@@EamonGlavin Those are my friends, too. And I have done this.
@@FishBulb1226 just joshin with ya Mr. Fishy
U WOT M8
Better blade work in the GB boat
That tide is horrible
Typical Eamon W...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

damn USA is slow af
I don't think they were slow at all, but the length of stroke was a little short, and there wasn't as much run happening as in the Brit boat. Obviously, different intended approaches to the work. The US boat is very punchy, but I am not sure it had as much finesse as it might have wanted.
Yikes
To each their own. I would find the drivel coming from the American cox very annoying. Sounded like a cheer leader in the boat which - for me - would not be helpful.
Very bad Cox
