    Good to see the Wallingford to Goring stretch of the Thames served the Oxford Crew well. It is a lovely stretch of river, which I in my 61 years, have put myself through the mill on, albeit a hell of a lot slower.

    Takes a HELL of a lot to even get close to the boat to win the boat race is simply the greatest, it doesn’t get any easier

    As an expat living in California, but born in Key Flats near Hammersmith Bridge, this was an excellent race and brought back many great memories. Just like I remember but even better. Next year it will be Cambridge! Congratulations everybody.

    Great coverage, thanks! John Garrett, how did it feel to be ignored for 6.8 kms? Congratulations to the crews,
    tremendous efforts!

    Watched from the States (it’s a stretch to call us United right about now). Great coverage! Glad I didn’t fall for the *many* bootleg CZcams channels purporting free live stream.

      I agree, so annoying to know I have missed it once more. At one time it would have been on the radio and the newspapers would be full of it. Such a shame as very much a part of the UK calendar.

      Oxford in 2003 - the closest race

      @@thomashutton1963 Oh thanks - just watched - quite exciting! I don't think Oxford ever got more than 1/2 boat behind. It seems to me that once a boat is a full boat length behind then it's almost an insoluble problem for them to overtake as the lead boat can always block them - irrespective of the umpire's instructions!

      @adrianwright8685 Před rokem

      @@Samester48 Yes that was close. But they were neck and neck all the way. My original question was a whether any team had ever got a full boat length behind and then come back and won. I don't think that is likely as once the lead boat is in front it would be next to impossible to overtake.

    A race that is historic and very old English. Enjoyed by people all over the world. Why do the bbc have to ruin it with metric crap. It was born in miles yards feet and inches. Please keep it that way.

    • @rachaeldixon5547
      @rachaeldixon5547 Před 2 lety +23

      Because we race internationally and everything in the rowing rule book is metric from weight restrictions to distances. Nothing to do with the BBC.
