    W.E. A.L.L. B.E. News interviewed The Honorable Mayor Johnny B. Thomas of Glendora, MS...Johnny B. Thomas is also the Executive Director of The Emmett Till Historic Intrepid Center... Johnny B. Thomas comes clean about his father's (Henry Lee Loggins) involvement in the murder of Emmett Till and the effect it has had on him and members of his family...He also talks about the ongoing efforts that he helped initiate to heal from one of the most tragic and traumatic events in our nation's history...Henry Lee Loggins was the right hand man of J.W. Milam who was the half brother of Roy Bryant whose wife, Carolyn Bryant, Emmett Till allegedly and infamously wolf whistled at...It is said that maybe as many as 10-14 people were involved in the actual kidnapping and murder of Emmett Till...Henry Lee Loggins was kept in several jails in the area under a different name for 2-3 weeks by the area's White power structure to keep him from testifying in the Emmett Till murder trail...Johnny B. Thomas is also a cousin of the legendary Bluesman Sonny Boy Williamson...This interview takes place in March 2012 near the Black Bayou Bridge where on August 28, 1955, Emmett Till's body was thrown into The Black Bayou which leads to the Tallahatchie River where it was discovered three days later on August 31, 1955.

    Where is his sense of shame? Wow, his father helped to torture and murder a Black child and he feels no shame.
    Are we totally lacking any sense of honor? Do we have any principles?

      His Father, Henry Lee Loggins, left Mississippi for Chicago in 1955. Thomas was just an infant. Thomas did not see his father again until he was 9 year old. As saw him very seldom after that.

      Of course. All parties involved are at fault. So much for “black unity and brotherly love”. Let this be a lesson people that look like you and share the same ancestry are not always your allies. You have to depend on yourself and your surroundings using your instincts. The world is a wasteland

      @@thadevilzadvocate Those black men involved in Emmet's kidnappings and murder were FORCED! A couple of them worked for J.W.Milam. They really didn't have much of a choice. It was either them or Emmett. There lives were absolutely ruined after that. They became estranged from their families, they all became alcoholics and a couple of them suffered from mental illness. They tried to live anonymous lives, but a couple of them were found, including this man's father, Henry Lee Loggins. Ed Bradley of 60 Minutes interviewed him and he vehemently denied any involvement with Emmett at all. To me, it seemed like he was lying. You could tell he was angry and bitter!! I cannot imagine what his life was like. Seeing Emmett brutalized, hearing his screams and his crying for his mother, or crying out, "Lord have mercy!!" No doubt he could see and hear Emmett in his dreams

      This man's father, Henry Lee Loggins, did indeed help kidnap and murder Emmett Till. After the trial, the black community ostracized him. His wife left him, and he became an alcoholic. He tried to live an anonymous life but he was tracked down by some people making a documentary.

  • @flintknudsen2155

    The Emmett Till case was reopened in 2004, and the supposed involvement of Henry Lee Loggins (the father of the man in the video) was examined. The court found no evidence that Loggins was involved. Also, if he had been involved, he would have been killed had he not followed whatever instructions the murderers had given him, and the man in this video (his son) may have been killed as well.

    • @LisaMitchellGD
      @LisaMitchellGD Před 3 lety +4

      Exactly. Thank you. So easy for people to judge Henry Lee Loggins if he was involved in the kidnapping and murder of Emmett Till but what choice did he have? He would have been tortured and killed as well..He had a Family to support and who wouldn't be terrified of being tortured by two armed and powerful white men in the South in the 1950's? That doesn't make him a coward, that makes him a victim and I am sure the entire experience disturbs and haunts him. I feel he deserves forgiveness and mercy. He did not ask to be involved. He was forced
