Air/lift just wasn’t there. Very narrow lift band anyway but then the wind dropped. Can soar Marina in my Gecko in 11-14 mph. Used to be able to do 9-11 mph back in the day and quite a few lbs ago. Got better shortly afterwards and had a nice long flight 👍
You crossed the gap, so why didn't you try to bench up on the south ridge? I haven't been there in decades, but it is where I did all my flying. Seems like the ramp is completely gone. That's a shame.
The air dropped. Would have just landed at the dirty gap had I kept going. Last two passes was barely level with ridge so going to lower ridge would have been worse. Waited a little and it got a lot better 👍. I learned at marina in 1989.
@@superdave3074 I was just a couple years ahead of you. Lack of patience is what ended my hang gliding at that very spot when I was simply testing a new glider on the beach and took a less optimal path when I got impatient for some people to clear my intended path. The result was an intentional downwind crash to avoid the ocean, and really tweaked my back, perhaps responsible for decades of pain.
@@MelindaGreen. I’m so sorry to hear that. I have thousands of hours at marina. It’s a very technical and challenging site. Can be underestimated by a lot of people. Really an advanced site most days. Hard to believe we used to sign H2 to fly there.

Sadly I don’t know of anywhere like that anymore. Marina was great for that back in the day. I think there is something similar in southern ca.
