    Everything we hate about it, but are to lazy to fix! The swivel hook has got to be the first 👍

    The most useful mod is to get a hand crank winchand weld that to the top of the beam in the back. Then get a pulley and attach it to the chain end of the beam. Now you can set your beam height and be able to raise and lower loads without it bouncing, and without having to deal with the angle and effective length of the beam constantly changing.

    How much to make me a knob to lower my hoist?

      Funny you should ask, I'm actually working on a solution for that this week and hope to have some answers. Frankly, I'm struggling with the shipping aspect. It seems about the cheapest small box I can get from the post office costs $11 to ship. I was thinking I would offer them for $5 but it just seems crazy that shipping would cost twice that amount. I haven't done something like this before so I'm dealing with a learning curve. Please be patient with me and I hope to have a solution here shortly; when I do I'll respond to this message again. Thanks for stopping by!

    Great short! Do you have a way of converting the pumping action to lift on the up stroke too? I have the same hoist and it’s painfully slow. Thanks!

    How do you know how strong of a swiveling hook to buy. It seems scary if that breaks

    • @javosgarage
      @javosgarage  Před rokem +4

      Good question Ethan, you definitely don't want that to break! The engines I am working with are in the 400-600lb. range so the hook I purchased is rated for 1,000kg or 2,200 lbs. Gives me plenty of room between the capacity of the hook versus what I am lifting. You would need to know the weight of what you are lifting so you could make sure the hook could handle it safely. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for stopping by!

    I know you're probably not going to lift more than 1 ton with that hoist, but I don't think I would want a 1 ton hook on a 2 ton hoist.

    I love how you call that hoist a crane. Lol

      I hear ya Dane. I had a hard time with that too but that is the official name on Harbor Freight's website so I was just trying to stick with their wording. As long as I can remember they're an "engine hoist" but who am I to argue with the almighty Harbor Freight? LOL Thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to leave me a comment.
