As a disabled person this effectively opens up the 3ds to me since through my computer I have accessible controllers. Thanks for sharing.
I would love to use this with a Wii U controller and have the 2nd screen in my hands. To me this would be the ultimate way to play ocarina of time.
One thing I found is that on a New 3DS System, the Artic Base application switches to the „old“ clocks. This causes issues in larger games like MK7 or Pokémon. But, if you start the server for the game you want to play, then open the Rosalina menu (L + Dpad down + Select), go to New 3DS settings and change it to enable L2 cache and set it to the higher clock speeds, it doesn't stop the server and I get a higher network connection speed, and no audio stutters like I did before.
I noticed a big improvement in Pokémon Y, the load times are faster, and the music doesn't cut out at all.

Is there a reason why the New 3DS menu setting doesnt pop up when I open Rosalina Menu? I only get Take screenshot, Change screen brightness, Cheats, etc.

You’re welcome to do whatever in the comfort of your own home. Nintendo is welcome to do whatever they can to stop their IPs from getting to people’s hands for free. Now you’ll say, “They don’t sell it anymore so we’re able to get it whichever way we can.” Except they might sell you those “abandonware” games sometime down the future. Whether it’s through NSO or remakes/remasters. Then when N does resell those oldies, pirates will bash N saying “I’ve played those games already.”

wow this is awesome, I bought a new 3dsxl from eBay awhile back, I didn't even realize it was hacked at first, i was just buying it so i could play actual carts! i was glad it was actual hacked! i just had to load some of the software to finish the job.
yeah its crazy, I bought a 3ds for really cheap bidding on it on ebay not long ago and not listed as hacked and it wound up being all set up ready to go. Maybe people don't want to list them as hacked in the title or description, but usually they would show in screenshots they are hacked.. but the one I bought didn't show anything.

While this quite good indeed, the New 3DS has allowed for a while to stream from the console to a PC, the downside being that you get the same resolution of the console and it's not that reliable, but it indeed existed
@@Madlittlepixel i grabbed one in 2020 for like 60 bucks to mod and i use it more then switch i love it the ds library has so many great games and remakes
Thanks for sharing this. It works way better than I expected it to, and because it is just streaming the rom rather than the gameplay there is no added input lag beyond any that the emulator has, just increased loading times/small loading hitches. I can definitely see myself using this a lot.

Just be advised. Make sure to use checkpoint to backup your saves. I tried to play A Link Between Worlds and it deleted my current saves. I had a backup so I was good but this is still being developed so be careful
I had the same for A Link Between Worlds, and saves for it don't persist after shutdown 🫤. Other games i've tried are fine though, Pokemon Sun, Super Mario 3D Land
It's now fixed the latest PabloMK7/citra build is needed

This is really neat. I have a loopy capture New 3DS XL and I still might use this just so I can easily up the graphical fidelity through emulation when I record. I know I could *already* do that, but a major concern for me in doing this is starting a series on emulator only for it to run fine at first but have major boo boo issues at some point. But with this, I could just go back to recording right off the 3DS itself if I did run into that scenario and then swap back once I get past the point that's emulated badly.
This is pretty neat! How does it handle spotpass features though? Like the Guild Cards in Etrian Odyssey games? Would the other spotpassed people’s data still show up in your game? Would your spotpass data be updated on switching back to the handheld?

like you say, this is amazing and groundbreaking for things like streaming. Like hardware modifications are expensive, and snickerstream has *several* problems (no native sound capture, only works on the "new" generation, etc). This is huge!

So my guess the way this works is it temporarily dumps the game and save file onto the emulator, and when you’re done, it pushes the game save back to the 3ds.

I just tried this out and I am pretty impressed. Never tried Citra before. 3D works very well on my passive 4K 3D TV. I tested it out with Starfox 64. Occasional little stutter. When I tried to resume Starfox 64 on the 3DS, it crashed. After a power cycle, to loaded up fine and the progress I had done on Citra was there. Hopefully the quirks get ironed out.

Also, can you also use the 3ds as the controller while playing through citra on the PC (wasn't sure if that's how you were playing mario kart...) Thanks again! Used a bluetooth controller syncd to my pc, not sure if there is a way to use the 3DS as a controller while doing this as the buttons etc close out Artic Base or put the system to sleep.

Ngl the main reason I ever want to use an emulator is for recording footage, getting capture cards for a 3DS are super pricey. That said, I still love how the 3DS feels to hold and control, plus it's a lot easier to use the actual console for touchscreen games than trying to use a mouse on an emulator. I really hope a future verison of Arctic Base allows for us to play these games on emulator while still using the 3DS as a controller and reading touch screen inputs from the 3DS, that would be ABSURDLY helpful for me as a content creator.
It's like they made the Smash 3DS controller but its an actual app to use on your PC!

not gonna lie. this is a huge godsend for many people. one disadvantage though is that when we are on the go, if we want to capture our 3ds footage for example, hotel, we wouldn't be able to because of the security stuff especially. only one way to mitigate that is to buy a pocket router. i'm on a mission to buy pocket routers that has wep since i want to play ds games. do i need it just for 3ds? nope. but since i want to connect my psp to the internet in case someone made a private server for the games, i got it covered
also, maybe cemu team would learn a thing from this video? then again, i'm more worried on how to capture the gamepad in aroma

i used VR mode + VR box on Citra android, it nice but not for long session.. its hurt my eyes sometimes..
It works on my 4K 3D screen, pretty amazing!
I thought this would be actually sharing the 3DS screens, but from what I understood all it does is share the ROM and save file while the game is actually being emulated by citra the same way it would if you just loaded a ROM, definitely convenient for anyone who wants to go back and forth and not have to deal with save backups, but anyone who's just interested in playing on PC should just dump the ROMs and play it straight from Citra

Considering the age of the 3DS family, yes we would like a fresh new updated tutorial. It would just be better having less software taking up space and possibly cause issues later.

Curious, does DLC and updates work? To load DLC or updates in Citra, you sometime need to install them in Citra as they are separate files.
If the game has been updated on the 3ds, then it will work fine.

This does look exciting and all but my major hang up is emulator optimization for the not so powerful PCs. This has always been my problem with Citra. The slowdown and lag were horrible and I could never rectify it.
The Laptop I used had so much struggle with it I couldn't even start the game
¿What about DLC? I read those doesn't transfer to citra, and that they have to be installed in citra.

Was the audio dsync durring the mario showcase just your recording or was it citra?
I honestly didn't notice any dsyncing while doing this, but i will double check. It is possible that since I was recording with 2 camera's and mics and I didn't have those 100% perfectly sync'd to one another that the audio got mixed up slightly.
Ok, found out the issue. I accidently moved the audio track incorrectly while editing and didn't catch it so it made it out of sync. The audio was fine IRL.

Is this streaming a video feed from your 3ds or loading the assets from the rom to run natively on the emulator?
Not a video feed or stream, its emulating the game from the 3DS, so its loading in the assets and game code etc, which is why the loading takes a little longer than normal.

You have FBI and Luma updated to the latest versions? Also double check the ip address thing shown on the Artic Base server on the 3DS and make sure you type it exactly the same in Citra.
@@Madlittlepixel I don’t have any issues with the cia more so citra I’m on Mac so I do not have a connect, file or anything tab I can not figure out how to connect it
I tried playing Ocarina of Time and Planet Robobot but I couldn't even have the game started. It didn't Register any Button Press and it ran at 3FPS or something
Make sure you configure the controls in Citra before playing, as far as performance this could be due to any number of things. I don't know you PC specs obviously, but Citra on PC requires a GPU that supports OpenGL 4.3 or higher, or Vulkan 1.1. Check to see if your GPU needs an update. With Artic Base things take a little longer to load then normal, so initial performance hiccups could be present but should smooth out after a moment as it is streaming the game info to Citra.
I know I am late but if this developer can pull licenses like McDonalds and Nike.. imagine a new cool spot game.. a new dominoes gizmo game… make official sequels to actual games with major licenses from back in the day and limited run them.
I follow every step, Luma up to date and 3ds firmware but after launching software on 3ds through arctic base and then attempting to connect through the latest version of Citra by entering the IP address displayed on the 3ds i just keep getting the following message... An error has occurred whilst communicating with the arctic base server. Anyone got any ideas where i'm going wrong? I have made sure to add exception to windows firewall for Citra so not sure what the problem is???
FBI is up to date as well? I ran into this issue only once, but I disconnected everything and restarted the 3ds. Reopened Artic Base, selected my game then connected in Citra and it worked fine.

My only problem with the 3DS is that it’s so low in resolution. I’m spoiled by the Nintendo Switch.
What resolution does the switch have?
@@8bit_billy Not sure, but it looked blurry to me. I played the Earthbound (SNES) on 3DS then I played the same game on Switch and the pixels on Switch look so sharp and crisp.
Switch is 720p handheld and 1080p (HD) docked

Broadcasting from your 3DS to Citra will be slower than loading the games directly in Citra as Artic Base on 3DS will be uploading game data from your 3DS to Citra.

Now I've been waiting for weeks because the seller was a scammer, gave me tracking for an order shipped to a totally different state, and AliExpress is hemming and hawing about having to enforce the protections and guarantees they supposedly have for buyers. You actually didn't have to censor that IP. Anything that stars with 192.168. is inside your network. The only thing this would allow is for someone who is literally physically logged into your Wifi in your home to connect to your 3DS.

At this time I dont think so, since Artic Base looks for inputs to close it out etc. But maybe they will come up with something in the future.
