The nitro deck plus reminds me of the button layouts of the nintendo Wii U game pad.

The older one is a pain in the ass too. Unless u play nothing but 2d type games.
If you get one, put something soft over the panel where the switch sits, that rough hard plastic scratches your switch like crazy
I really like those sidekick buttons. I've had controllers with backbuttons that I didn't like, nor use...but this has the sidekick buttons i think i could use and the back buttons look comfortable.
Seems cool I’ve never used anything besides just standard joy cons handheld so it would interesting to try one of these

You can update the firmware on the old Nitro Deck controller to reduce rumble, New Nitro Deck has Bluetooth built-in to update firmware using the Nitro Deck App on your phone.
I agree with what you day at the end of the video, it would be good to have the option to buy either button layout on the +.
I want the + for the docked mode but then I would prefer the right thumbstick lower down which is native to switch and xbox gamepad which is what I use

Better than the stick on the original Nitro Deck? It's still better than the joycons or that miserable D-pad on the Switch Lite, but "better" is a relative term.
I really like the look of this, and I miss the dual high stick placements from the wii u pro controller. I'll see if I can pick one up but yeah they should have made a version with the xbox stick layout. That or make one unit where both sides can detach both sides of the face so we can flip their stick/button positions.
For the rumble, I turn off the left side off and have the right one at low rumble. It balances out the aggressive rumble
I always like the WiiU layout, should have named them "Nitro Deck U" lol

Uh...yes it does😂😂😂. The damn hori pads are better...and those are like just above joy cons. If ur using joy cons while playing ur switch ur insane...or a kid. Regardless of the grip.

Dude, I LOVE mine. It's been glued to my Lite for like two years now, inside the matching fitted case. It's so comfortable. I have many different grips and controllers for both Switch types.
Mobapad M6HD with the hd rumble handedly beats it and nitrodeck products.
I love my white one but I’ll probably sell it for this new updated one. You’re the first person I’ve seen reviewing the clear purple and it does look good!
You coulda used the dpad in Mario as well, it doesn't require analog movement or anything. It plays well with an arcade controller even.
I like the sticks being symmetrical, but it's hard to tell if the ergonomics are good. Looking at a Wii U GamePad, they've got the face buttons up closer to the right stick and they're not horizontally aligned, the face buttons are a bit left of the stick. Same deal with the dpad but mirrored, it's right a bit. I think having them closer together so it's closer to where your thumb fully extends is probably the way to go, and having them offset a bit horizontally lets you do more of a natural arcing motion to go between them instead of going straight down, which might require a regrip to get comfortable. They could apply the same design here, but they'd have to make it a bit wider, I guess. I also like the Steam Deck layout of having everything kind of in a row near the top, but without something like the Deck's trackpads that'd leave them with a bunch of empty space at the bottom.
I tried this and personally prefer the hori split pad compact edition. They’re much more comfortable and have cases on Amazon for travel too.
I was one that wanted the stick changed… then I got my plus and almost regretted it. lol. HOWEVER I got used to it. It’s now a non issue for me.

The four buttons on the back are mapped to ABXY, my thumb doesn't even leave the right stick.

So my complaint was wanting the dpad on top, I’m a retro centered gamer. I am actually okay with this layout, I do like the dpad to be aligned with the buttons. Then when I’m playing shooters and things with the analog sticks, I’m gonna be using those programmable buttons so my thumbs don’t have to stray far from the sticks. I’m glad someone had a video out about it besides the company themselves, I’m excited to receive my preorder soon.
Hey I just let everyone know unfortunately I'm broke so I can't buy it but it's on sale for 60 bucks right now through a lightning deal on Amazon. Which is only temporarily as I'm sure most you know because normal price I think it said it was 80 or 90 so 60 ant horrible.
Yeah I ordered one today - couldn’t pass on that price. Especially since it comes with the case, extra thumb sticks and usb-c. I noticed the company addressed the issues with an update and on their CZcams channel. They show you how to change some settings & install that update (Home button light, vibration settings, etc). I’ve only played my lite handheld - now I can enjoy that Oled screen now with my Clear Green Nitro Deck. 💚

No offense but you're kinda using the new one wrong. You never need to take your right thumb off the right stick. You can use all 4 back paddles as A B X Y. I know it takes time to get used to but it ends up being better

How did you get one of the new ones if they're not out yet? Was there a first run we missed out on or something? On their site you can only preorder. I may go for one of the older ones as I dont know what the heck they were thinking putting the face buttons down on the bottom. That's awkward for sure.

Yea any usb c to HDMI adapter should work.
@@metalliholic operative word is should, but some adapters don't work with some devices, this could be one of them.

I think I also prefer the original placement. I did boot up that Star Wars f2p game and played with a shooter character and it was pretty nice.
You know what? Once you get the back paddles set. The + is really good. The sticks are comfy and you don’t really need to reach for the face buttons

Thanks for the great review. I am glad you are not annoyed at the redesign because to me people's reactions didn't make sense. I saw the original, really wanted it, but decided that the stick placement was a deal breaker. Surely people who bought the original were happy with the layout? Otherwise they were forced to buy it. Buying it of your own free will, then complaining that you feel cheated because this is the version you really wanted just seemed like a super odd take to me.
I was going to get one, till I saw that retroflag had a similar type of product and was cheaper.
This is the first time in all the nintendo systems, I'm only using 3rd party controllers with them and none are first party. I use the 8bitdo ultimate controller for when it's docked.

I bought the hori split pad pro but I kinda think this nitro deck is better
I didn't see the plus on amazon,just regualer, so not interested, was slightly interested in the plus, cause it's also a dock, would be great fir travaling
The plus will be on Amazon. Asked them on Twitter and they said maybe a month or 2 after release
I'm not 100 percent sure, but the button placement is a deal breaker for me to buy without trying
People that complained about the placement feel the need to bend their thumb to put the tip of it on the right stick, making it awkward, personally I’m fine with it I rotate the stick with the middle of my thumb, and it’s not uncomfortable at all, tip goes on the buttons while I rotate towards the middle.
I don't know about swapping the right stick and face buttons, so I'm with you on that. I'm used to the buttons and sticks being where they are. That's not something they needed to change. Looks great otherwise though.
It definitely needed to change. Using that right thumbstick on the original was just awful. And you have grip buttons so the face button placement doesn't matter

Okay, I'm not the only one that didn't like the new placement of the right stick and buttons. I have big hands and have to hold it weird to play games that prioritize the left stick like Mario Odyssey.
I turned off the rumble in switch settings, cause I hate rumble on switch ganes, don't feel natural

Thank u! I love mine. I will say the 1st nexigo the dpad was so stiff, but I got the 3rd generation or 2nd ..not sure but it was way better. These decks are so nice with some massive bone headed button placements...it is unacceptable how bad they screwd the button placement up on the 1st...then completely goofed again with this one. It's unbelievable
The KMD Clutch is a far better deal. I like analog sticks on top but not at that price.
The stick placement is awkward for anything outside of twin sticks and first person shooter which has me actually using the back buttons unlike the original nitro deck. This is gonna take getting used to.
I like Clear shells but I like White PCBs. black is ugly. But I do like the look and features of this...but first i need to get a switch lol
Oddly placing the analog stick on top on the right side, above the buttons, will ruin your open-world games and first-person shooter experience immensely. How do they expect you to run and jump while controlling camera angle or switching weapons?
The side and back buttons actually make it work pretty dang well ngl.
Just picked one up last night and ooooooh BotW and Sploon are much more comfy and it’s nice to not have to move my thumb anywhere else besides the sticks.

The Nitro Deck is not what I thought it'd be but almost. Was excited for the Nitro Deck Plus. Ads were all over the place, however. After careful deliberation and research unfortunately it's STILL not what it's supposed to be🤦🏽. Oh well. Onto the Nitro Deck Plus Pro lol 😭🏳️🥺
Original one is better if it had the new updated things on it the new one has. Like the design but the button placement and joycon placement on the new one is awful. Should have just kept it the same as the switches layout!
I bought the older one, to me it felt very plasticky, kinda cheap, and it scratched up the back of my switch. Why did they just leave the switch insert section as rough textured hard plastic instead of felt or similar? Too overpriced as well.
This is why listening to ppl who have platforms is a terrible dev model. You and a bunch of other reviewers said the same thing. Move the sticks, now you're like I didn't like them. Lol it's typical in business. When you try to cater to everyone you cater to no one. Just like with gaming, most of these suggestions aren't thought out at all and have little to no research to back them up.
The NYXI Hyperion Pro for me is the best joycon/controller I have ever come across and I've gone through a lot of them but they are the best for me I've been using mine for over a year
Who was complaining about the button placement? Seems like a fail to me. Making it an option would be good but I can't imagine a majority of people want both sticks up top.
There were quite a few who more so were complaining about the analog stick placement on the right side being awkward, seen it in a few written reviews. So now they moved it and I think it makes the button placement feel more awkward now.
People wanted the stick more inward and up like a pro controller. With this + setup they haven't solved anything as it's now uncomfortable for the face buttons.
Depends on the type of game you are playing.
Have yet to find joycon replacements with comfortable placement of the right stick. Switch lite with a grip is the best I could do. I'm no engineer, but it's something about my thumb not extending as much as I want when resting on the stick.
I for one will admit I prefer the upper stick positions over the xbox stick placement.

I’ve got mine. The sticks and back buttons are great and it’s fantastic for Zelda and shooters for example but it’s awful for a classic game like mega man as the d pad and face buttons position is god awful. So yet again it’s another third party controller that isn’t good at doing everything. 🤦🏼😣 I’ve never had to buy and try so many controllers for a system in my life. Just shows how bad the joy cons are that we keep buying this stuff to rectify the problem. I can go back to every system Nintendo has ever made and have no issues but the switch and the joycons are a joke.
I would like to say that it’s great that you can easily re map the buttons in the app it’s really quick and easy so it’s got that going for it. I had to do that for mega man because the face buttons are so in unusable.
I wasn't a fan.. still too small... cramped my hands. Nothing beats the satisfye for me.

That’s also how I felt but since I have been playing hollow night, I got used to using the thumb stick instead of the deep pad. It’s actually quite nice. It probably depends on the game you’re playing for example when I used to play MegaMan battle network on the game when I was small, I use the deep pad obviously because that’s all they had but now that I can use my analog stick that’s what I use now.
This Controller is One of the worst Controller for Nintendo Switch so Uncomfortable. you get cramp after ten minutes Nasty.
The analog stick being on the top is a complete fail. Like it’s made for shooters which is great but that’s not the Switch library.
