I really dig the PS Classic after modding. I only have PSX games on mine though.
But how good is the quality?
Would you recommend for dragon quest, final fantasy, and chronotrigger games?

Yes...America got the majority of the shiploads from China..we over in Europe hardly got a lookin...over in Britain...what little we did get were snatched up by the scalpers and marked up at 2 to 3x retail...just like the NES mini before it (twice)..while wincing that your Walmart chain couldn't give them away...we couldn't get new ones after a month for a 100...I had to bide my time like I did with the Nintendo and grab one second hand off eBay for about 51pounds about 70 dollars used 2 years later...we got the dregs...the leftovers...I heard on forums or blogs a few Brits imported some from the States...I missed out on any...eventually I won a bid and soon bought one of those USB plugins for added games..the sticks with the drug user brands..like overdose pack..there's alternative ways to add games now..as in this MLP vid..during the waiting time..I had my RaspberryPi's for emulation and I made my own fake Sony mini clone..a 17 dollar 500in1 Famiclone..I binned the PCB's and soldered my Pi in it..came out pretty good..I even used the USBs at the front from the 500in1..you have to make do when you can't get..the RPi sits in a NESPi case these days

@@cre8iveone699 Yeah, it got down to $20 for a brand new sealed PS Classic Mini on Amazon 🤦🏻♀️ It wasn't just one either, all most all of them were this price. After my post I noticed that someone else in the comments picked one up when they were $20. And now I'm trying to haggle with some guy on eBay for $85. 🙄

Oh geez, the PS classic haha. I remember I was working at Target at the time for a few years when SNES classic and Sony PSX classic came out, and I worked in electronics/games and toys. Let me tell ya the SNES classics we'd get 7-10 in they'd be sold out by the end of the day most of the time half way through the day they were all gone. We had to tell people one per customer lol. The PS Classic mini however collected dust for months, and had 3 price drops lol. I sold 2 in a matter of like 6 months no joke. Hacking all of them is great but stock, man the SNES mini wiped the floor with the PS mini.

@@pacsonic9000 Which one? Lol I have 2 snes minis one hacked the other stock. Had a ps mini but sold it. There's also the Sega one too but from what I understand those are a little trickier to hack.

Mine was new in the box until I came across some of your videos last year. I did the emulator and best thing I have ever done. So fun even got the 8bitdo wireless adapter and use the PS4 controller on the console.

8:43 Does this port implement a "run" button? For example, the directional buttons alone do the walking unless held with the Square button.

The PLaystation Classic can play arcade roms (FBNeo and MAME). It can play some Dreamcast games at good speed.
had one but kept running into limitations had to buy add ons to use PS4 controller to get full effects on games. Just bought a mini PC downloaded Duckstation for PS1 and all games work great with save features ETC. Plus have PS2 and PS3 Emulators on my Mini PC along with tons of other systems the PS Classic couldnt handle well Like PSP Saturn Dreamcast ETC.
Best mini console! one of the best thing is you can plug in a dual shock PS4 controller and it works fine!

Pico 8 is a fantasy console in 1:1 aspect ratio. Celeste on the pico 8 is very good! I think it started on there?
Grabbed this at a thrift store a few years back for $25 I believe. Haven't gotten around to modding this thing yet, but I remember I wanted to put Alundra on it for nostalgia(I ended up buying the game anyway lol). This mini console would have truly bombed harder if not for the ability to mod it.

I loved the PS Classic. I just swapped out the games that came with it for games that SHOULD have came with it (Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Tomba, etc.). The emulation was far from DuckStation, but it & the UI had that mid-90s charm

I use my classic to play Samurai Shodown rpg. It looks great.
For me the biggest deal breaker for the console was the fact that it didn’t include the dual analogue controller.
Best thing i bought, i knew some usb sticks would appear. Bought all true blue sticks. Exelente, played gta, resident evil, vagrant, nightmare creatures 👍👍 got games to last a lifetime 👍👍
I put Tenchu on mine this morning. I haven't played it since '98.
I bought my ps mini at the original price and playing on it since then. No regrets
Super RetroCade is one I softmodded, runs way better with the mod than stock. Seems the software originally shipped with these minis and the like were sometimes so unoptimised its unreal they got past quality.😎✌️
I shelved my super retrocarde when the controllers broke. Is that worth it to dig out instead of the PSC?

Is this thing powerful enough to 3x or 4x psx games? I bought one dirt cheap and never touched it. I have far more powerful emulation hardware, so I only see me using this as a dedicated psx device with like the top 100 games. If you can upscale the native res.
I do prefer just PlayStation games on my PS Classic as well and have done exactly that with my own build. You are limited in graphics improvement options but 2x is probably about it plus some other enhancements.

I did a 64GB USB hack on my PS Classic a long time ago, it’s sweet! But I can’t remember, does this 128GB USB hack require some sort of modification to the console in order to read it? I seem to recall something to that effect. Thanks, wouldn’t mind trying this build, it seems pretty awesome!
yes, he's using retroboot so you will need the autobleem kernel installed. if you used autobleem then maybe you won't need to do anything else.

You use etcher to write it on your USB and you are good to go

still my favorite little Emulation device that i will never sell. i beat many great games on this device.
I may have to get one of these for the living room lol.
Everyone still using the original controllers need to do the USB cable mod. I added 10' cables to mine and no more hauling the console around by the cable.
Back when this was a thing, Gamestop had those yok usb cable extenders marked down to 99 cents. Grabbed a couple then.

Super easy to hack , just copy and paste the files on your USB.
Only problem with the Playstation Classic is the input lag. However, funny fact, the USB controllers connected to a computer are one of the controllers with the least input lag, perfect for MisTer FPGA. It's really sad that Sony added filters and frame buffers that increased the latency like crazy.

Do you have a suggested build for just ps1 games? Or a way to make my own build? I prefer having just ps1 games on the ps1 classic.
If you just want PS1 you should roll your own build. Save you from scrolling through hundreds of games you don't want to play.

Just copy and paste the PS1 games in the "games" folder and boot autobleem. Can't be easyer then that

You need to get it yourself and then mod it. Some people have sold pre-modded ones. Realistically you are better off getting something else if you're not doing the DIY - RetroPie offers more functionality and many turn-key builds are available.
Hey, so I grabbed the IMG file. I'm curious as to why this has to be burned as an image and isn't just a ZIP full of files like it used to be. Also, once the image is burned, it won't mount on my laptop. I assume it'll mount on the PS1 Classic fine, but I can't try till later. Is there some sore of special file system here or something ?

@@sebastiankrauss9749 CZcams is weird about links. But if you google "back-ups me" with quotes, it's the first hit. Login, hit torrents, them playstation, then scroll down and it's the most recent build.
It's in ext4 Linux format that's why you can't read it on a windows PC.

I downloaded the .img file. I mounted it using Daemon tools but it gives me a corrupt error that its not windows format. I tried to use a different program to copy the image to my new sandisk 128 usb but it says my drive is too small. Having issues.
How are you getting the not windows format error? Once imaged the drive wont be accessible on Windows. So just confused by that part. But I use WindiskImager to write the image with no issues. The issue with the Sandisk is pretty common as not all storage devices wind up having the same exact amount of space, so may depend on the drive the original create created the image from on if it will fit on all drives of the same size. I used the Samsung USB drive I list in the description without issue, but with Sandisk you may have to use 256gb instead...

Can you add more games to this build?
If you have wifi setup yes , it's setup in ext4 Linux format so you can read it on a windows PC . You have to use winscp or file Zila to access the build to add games . For that you need to have the autobleem kernel and wifi setup to do that or else you use it at is or build your own
all the game didn't had a chance to go on ps1, now do and they run ok

So this is just basically turning the playstation mini into a raspberry pi, I think if I had a mini I'd stick to just the ps1 library on it, this is still pretty cool tho don't get me wrong

I found the build, it’s an img, put on card, but won’t boot up. Maybe add to video how to get it to boot?
Use a program like windisk32 imager and write the image to the drive. Its like burning a retropie image onto a sd card, but i stead onto a usb drive. Just make sure you select the correct drive letter for the usb drive then select the .img file and click write.
