- It's amazing what a little Fusion Mineral Paint can do!
When we moved into our new house, one of the things I liked the least was this dark, dated fireplace. I didn't have the $$ though to rip it out and start all over, so I decided to update it with paint.
Now it's a fresh, cottage style fireplace and mantle with a little vintage glam added in :)
I love working with Fusion Mineral Paint--no topcoat required, paints on nice and smooth, and no stinky odor so an easy project to do indoors :)
You can find the colors and products I used in my online shop here:

And here is the stencil I used, from Amazon:

The stencils are awesome!
I thought for sure you had re-tiled it. The paint was all beautiful!
The "tile" proves slow and steady wins the race 🐢🏁
I ❤️ it! Yes it does!
Great job love it!
So pretty!!! Wow what an improvement!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!! 😊
I remember when you did this project! Glad it all worked out. Looks great.
Thank you! Yes, I love how it turned out
Turned out beautiful!!!
THank you! I enjoy it so much
Wow, it really is so much better than the "before"! Love the colors you used. Thanks for the link, Melanie! Jan in MA
Looks great!
This really looks amazing Melanie! Paint is a miracle worker!!
Thanks so much! And yes, it's amazing what you can do with a jar of paint :)
Beautiful just beautiful,,,
Thank you so much!
You did a beautiful job and I love your color choices! I love, love those paintings on the mantle, so pretty!! Thank you for sharing, I might have enough guts to paint my own now. I have fair amount of brick though and I think I’ll paint that portion in milk paint and the mantle in regular Fusion.
Milk Paint is perfect for brick! Thanks for watching :)
That problem was from pledge probably. Mineral spirits and even acetone can get that off
I just discovered mineral paint! I can't wait to try this on my mantel and my kitchen cabinets.
Fusion is a great paint for cabinetry! Just to make sure to clean them really well (I use that same cleaner I showed in the photo). I’ve painted several sets and have more cabinet makeovers planned :)
@@LostFoundDecor thanks for the tips. I'm super excited 😁 I'm a big proponent of using what we have. My cabinets are in excellent condition. I'm looking for a warmer feel, and a pale gray or a navy just may do the trick!
Looks beautiful! What did you do with the hearth? I have an elevated off the floor massive marble one and not sure what to do with it...
Thank you! I don’t have a heart actually, the tile runs right down to the carpet. So I just taped back the carpet and stenciled the tile as far down as I could get it
Your fireplace looks great. What primer did you use prior to the ultr Grip? We have a fireplace that has small square bathroom tiles on the face( yes I said shiny small square bathroom tiles) I love the job ou did! How does the Amazon stencil quality wise compared to other options out there? You didn't topcoat the stencil work? Thanks!!
Thanks! I used a gray Zinsser primer I had on hand! And no, I didn’t topcoat bc Fusion is acrylic and doesn’t require one :) makes it super easy!
If you re did this would you have used ultra grip before the primer just to make sure? And on the tiles should ultra grip be used? Thank you it looks amazing xx
Hi Joanne! No need to use Ultra Grip and primer-they both are bonding agents so if you use one, you should use the other. The issue I was having with the mantel itself was just weird… definitely some sort of chemical build up on that wood that just didn’t want to accept any new paint!
Absolutely beautiful. I am also a lover of Fusion paint. And I have redone several pieces of furniture. Just wondered how many coats you used on the mantle? Thanks
Thanks so much! I believe it was 2 coats
Ok great thanks 😊
Beautiful! Don’t see how in the world you pieced in the part of the pattern to finish off the tile in the surround. How did you paint those without interfering with the paint on the complete squares. Artistic Talent I don’t possess!
That part was for sure the most challenging! I started with the full tiles, then worked my way down to the smallest pieces left. I kept trimming the stencils to fit, which is what you see in that big pile of stencil mess 😂 I did mess up a bit here and there, and so then I just went back with more paint and touched up the spot. Also, if I caught it quick enough, I could wipe off the messed up spot with a wet paper towel.
