      Did you do it? What was husbands reaction. I’d love to do mine, but I have a really difficult husband who trashes every idea I come up with. I currently have a nice lounge full of light oak furniture, soft grey furnishings and then this dark mahogany! fire surround that he won’t let me change! It’s so annoying as it doesn’t go with anything 😩

      I just found this video and I’m taking notes on all this and gotta see where to purchase the primer & paint as I have everything else and I’m gonna too paint it while hubby is away! 👀 I hope yours turned out great girl because we haven’t heard anything 😬 I’ll definitely get back with y’all on mine, just give me awhile to get the paint & primer as that’s important I get all the right stuff beforehand and let y’all know as soon as I get done! Wish this girl luck y’all 😉 Ha Ha

    • @Shabbyie

      No it's not a white white.... There are so MANY WHITES, the ones that seem whiter than white are actually not as nice on.

    Hi, I have a wood surround that was waxed, I covered it with Zinsser Bin but unfortunately it has bleed through so I have taken it all off sanded the wood and scrubbed it with detergent to get off as much as possible. I would love to paint it white but I’m worried that it will happen again! Could you advice me please. Is the product you used a stain blocker? Thank you.

    • @Shabbyie
      @Shabbyie  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes bloxx it is an oil based primer and blocker. There is alsdo the shellac version called Terminator... Both by fleetwood. If you think you see a bleed through the primer... Go ahead anyway... It usually doesn't come through to the paint once the primer is on.

    • @Shabbyie

      Yes of course . A good sander to remove all the paint and then re varnish or stain and varnish.

      Use a water based clear varnish . That will seal it and protect it and not change the colour.

      Shop around antique salvaged shops for 19th Century Victorian Cast Iron fireplace inserts, I found one for $1,450.00 just like this but look in around your area and flea markets, Oh and find a Habitat for Humanity Restores as they have great deals that are affordable. Hope this helps ya to find your beautiful fireplace insert. ♥️
