In nearly four hours of grueling congressional testimony before the Republican-led Committee on Education and the Workforce, the president of Columbia University, Nemat "Minouche" Shafik, said she had taken serious action against accusations of antisemitism on campus in recent months amid Israel's assault on Gaza, including dismissing or removing five faculty members from the classroom, suspending 15 students and suspending two student groups - Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace. Shafik's visit to Capitol Hill is the latest in a series of hearings on alleged antisemitism at elite U.S. private schools. In December, similar hearings led to the resignations of the presidents of Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania. Our guests Nara Milanich and Rebecca Jordan-Young, both professors at Barnard College and Columbia University, respond to the televised hearings. "What happened at those hearings yesterday should be of grave concern to everybody," warns Jordan-Young. "What we got was a live performance [of President Shafik] throwing the entire university system under the bus." Adds Milanich, "Antisemitism here is being used as a wedge. It's being used as a Trojan horse for a very different political agenda."

As an American and a veteran…. it is disgusting watching our politician’s hypocrisy, traitorous kowtowing, and doing the bidding for ANOTHER country. Since they’re more concerned with the wellbeing of Bibi’s country than they are for America and its citizens, they should all renounce their citizenship here and move over there.

No. This is a Christian nation. It is so regardless of a belief in Jesus as the Son of God. Nearly all,of our public and private institutions owe their existence to the Christian code: love your neighbor as yourself; forgive those who have offended you; love your enemies.
The amalgam of Greek thought and Christian morals built this country, perhaps in the main, because both the Christians and the Greeks had learned the hard lessons: do not trust state power, and all things in moderation.
No other civilization had such revolutionary ideas to guide them. No. The latter were all based on overweening state power, abject superstition, and in the beliefs that Man was God on this earth, that Man could achieve anything given enough, that his power to achieve was unlimited.
      This is a Christian nation.

@@BrendaHeeligan It’s founders”, or “our founders”? Just wondering. I didn’t say that the founders put Christianity ahead of other faiths, agnostics, or atheists. But is is unquestionable that, regardless of your religion, this country was founded with Christian principles. We, all of us, not just in the US, but in the West generally have been immersed in principles that arose and are maintained by Christian principles.
Quoted from Dinesh D’Souza, Imprimis, Hillsdale, and Dr. Donald Kagan, Yale Universty,
“But Christianity is largely responsible for many of the principles and institutions that even secular people cherish-chief among them equality and liberty.”
“This idea of the preciousness and equal worth of every human being is largely rooted in Christianity. Christians believe that God places infinite value on every human life. “
In non Western countries … China, Iran, Russia, The Congo, Somalia, Venezuela, Cuba, etc. … human life has no particular value in and of itself.” A Christian notion.
“Jesus broke the traditional taboos of his time when he scandalously permitted women of low social status to travel with him and be part of his circle of friends and confidantes.”
Treating men and women equally re adultery and subsequent divorce. Christianity.
“Christianity, from its very beginning, discouraged the enslavement of fellow Christians. We read in one of Paul’s letters that Paul himself interceded with a master named Philemon on behalf of his runaway slave, and encouraged Philemon to think of his slave as a brother instead. “
“politically active Christians were at the forefront of the modern anti-slavery movement. In England, William Wilberforce spearheaded a campaign that began with almost no support and was driven entirely by his Christian convictions-a story powerfully told in the recent film Amazing Grace. Eventually Wilberforce triumphed, and in 1833 slavery was outlawed in Britain. Pressed by religious groups at home, England then took the lead in repressing the slave trade abroad.” Christianity.
“Christianity has also lent force to the modern concept of individual freedom.”
“The second great strand in the history of the West is the Judeo-Christian tradition. Christianity’s main roots were in Judaism, a religion that worshiped a single, all-powerful deity who is sharply separated from human beings, makes great moral demands upon them, and judges them all, even kings and emperors. Christianity began as a persecuted religion that captured the Roman Empire only after centuries of hostility, and it never entirely lost its original character as an insurgent movement, independent of the state and hostile to it, making claims that challenged the secular authority.” Donald Kagan.

In Genesis 17 and 21 God promises his covenant with Ishmael will stand even though Abraham has abandoned him, God would not.
