As we enter the month of June, scorching temperatures are already making deadly heat waves around the world. Data confirmed last month was the hottest May on record, putting the Earth on a 12-month streak of record-breaking temperatures. On Wednesday, the World Meteorological Organization announced there is an 80% chance the average global temperature will exceed 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels for at least one of the next five years. "We're going to see a more chaotic planet as the climate heats up," says Jeff Goodell, a journalist covering the climate crisis. Goodell describes "the heat wave scenario that keeps climate scientists up at night": a major power outage that could cut off air conditioning and cause thousands of deaths from extreme temperatures.
In Mexico, it's already so hot that howler monkeys and parrots are falling dead from the trees. "What we're experiencing right now goes beyond what is normal," says Ruth Cerezo-Mota, climate researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. "We have been saying this for many years now."

It's the producers or rather the capitalist owners of the means of production of goods and services. Creating a disposible economy is most profitable and looks best on the quarterly report.

@@Silks- They (we) shouldn't take any blame. The USA does supply-side economics, and our system is deeply plutocratic. Demand is created here not answered to. It's not about what a country and it's people need. It's about how much the capitalists in that country can sell you and extract from you. So US capitalists created an unsustainable and coersive system that prioritizes quarterly profits above all. The disposable culture we find ourselves in wasn't of our own making. It was manufactured by people trying to get more of our money and labor just like the rest of our system.

Great question! Imagine for a moment that no human being had to make 'money' to access basic needs to survive. That would be a universal human right society where no business or rich person could coerce another group of humans to submit to dangerous labor in exchange for often low wages and barely scraping by to meet basic needs and pay bills. That's the type of freedom capitalist society and the defenders of capitalism have pushed away from for over 100 years!
But the type of freedom that we need is also the society we need to build for ourselves, because corporation aren't coming to save us.

This means using air conditioner adds more ghg's to the atmosphere. And that adds the overall heating leading needs for more air conditioners, electricity and ghg's... Worsening loop is ready.
Also burning fossil fuels adds aerosols, that are globally killing 6-10 million people per year. And during heatwaves the air is dry, so hardly any rain washes the impuries from the air, so harmful aerosol amounts peaks too.
Also during the heatwave the electricity demand peaks, mainly because of air conditioning. And this means we use most pollutive energy sources to get enough electricity. So if the electric company has diesel generators as backups, they are using them during heatwaves.

A/C creates additional consumption and its wide usage is peaking at certain conditions like heatwaves. This forces to use even most pollutive power plants in the network.
When EV amount rises and energy usage rises at more predictable ways, we can just add renewable energy that is needed all the time. But we has to change to zero fossil fuels, so EV's and A/C can be much cleaner in the future.
Fossil fuel cars needs constant supply of oil/gas. This means huge mining, processing, transportation and storing operations. Far more than EV's and renewable energy with storages needs. Daily needs for fossil fuel industry is just enourmously overconsumptive.
Renewables with autonomous community owned EV's is even far better alternative. Mass transport is bit better than that. But even better would be cities where gaining needed items and working does not need any vehicles (specially inside the city).
