823rd Tank Destroyer Battalion and 30th Infantry Division Cross the Rhine at Alpen; March 24, 1945

In this footage, you will see Army Engineer units and US Navy personnel prepare for Rhine crossing operations at Alpen, Germany. They are at the Rhine crossing point used by the 30th Infantry Division. You will see vehicles of the attached 823rd Tank Destroyer Battalion crossing the Rhine in landing craft. This footage was filmed March 24, 1945, as the official reports of the 30th ID and 823rd TD Bn list March 24 as the date of crossing the Rhine, but the original records date the footage as April 13, 1945.
