In this video we react to funny British animal voiceovers. To make it extra fun we decided to make this video into a try not to laugh challenge. This was absolutely hilarious, so we failed the challenge! LOL I love this type of comedy. This type of British humour had us both laughing out loud. Brits have an awesome accent for funny animal voiceovers. :)
Thanks for watching. If you enjoyed this reaction please give this video a thumbs up, share your thoughts in the comments and click the subscribe button to follow my journey to learn about my British and Irish ancestry.

I think your wife reacting with you really brings out another side of you , she's an excellent addition to the channel
Thanks, yeah she definitely unleashes my sillier side :)
I completely agree! It's lovely to see both reactions, gives me more food for thought too!
This one however will be a giggle! Let's see if our "lighter humour" makes them laugh.
Our darker, not-for-the-thin-skinned humour, may not do so well with these lovely two... 😅
@CunningStunt017 gallows humour vs monty python!
Also, great name!
I love your videos. Keep doing it!
That "Alan" one has become notorious on the Music Festival scene here. Usually at about 1Am, when everyone is crashing out, some bright spark in the campsite calls out "Alan! Alan!" and then some other twat from the other side of the field calls back "Alan!" and then others join in. It's kind of the background music to being high or drunk in a tent at a festy in the dark of the night. Usually goes on till about 4AM.
and then add a Steve lol
at knebworth 1979 led zep the "alan" was "wally!!!"same result
Years ago it used to be Wally. Back in the 70s/80s at Reading (when it was a proper festival) the calls would go out around the campsite through the early hours.
Hmmm, are you sure you'e not confusing this with Alan Partridges 'Dan'??
😂 it's just so British 😂
After this was aired the British public adopted the joke of shouting ALAN in public and a stranger would automatically shout STEVE! Usually when drunk at music festivals. It’s become a nationally recognised joke between us all.
I was just about to put this. I remember it. Anywhere where there was a crowd, like a football match, the city centre on Friday or Saturday nights or even just in a crowded pub - someone would start shouting ALAN!!!
Oh that's great! haha
The English guy that shouts to his dog chasing Deer on some common land is kinda hilarious too 😅 It's on CZcams !
FENTON, JESUS CHRIST, FENTON@@99fruitbat94
@@99fruitbat94FENTON!!!!
You should look up "Creature Comforts", from the people who made "Chicken Run". They get the general public to talk about different subjects, and then put their voices to animated characters - hilarious!
I was just thinking of this earlier (reminded by something else), it was so good
Creature Comforts is a classic
Sounds right up our alley. Thanks :)
I would most strongly endorse that ~ but there are a lot of them, all very funny :-)
"Easily turn off and onable" classic.
If you are thinking to possibly looking into more British comedy, I would wholeheartedly suggest the Four Candles sketch by the Two Ronnies, which is pure linguistic comedy gold.
Definitely a big Yes.
Followed by a lot more of their sketches 😊
Has he not reacted to this before? If not that's a great shout! 🕯🕯🕯🕯🍴😂❤
@@arianaajbeaverhausen8175 After checking through his vid list, it looks like he's not reacted to the full sketch. Possibly part of it for a reaction to British Vs US Comedy.
@@stuartfaulds1580 fingers and toes crossed that he reads your comment then, that's a classic comedy clip that every Anglophile should see. ❤
@@arianaajbeaverhausen8175 very much agreed, as it is a CLASSIC comedy sketch
Yes it's BBC, it was on at teatime on Saturday evening - family time together.
British comedy is so good, humour is even more important in British culture than American on the whole
If its so good why do ye need so many irish comedians lol
@@gallowglass2630 I mean my family is Irish so not sure who you is. Irish comics tend to work over here because there’s more money in doing so, and most live in the UK too, and it’s not like Irish comedians and writers are the majority. I’m also not sure why it needs to be a competition when there’s a lot of crossover
@@gallowglass2630Get over yourself, i live in London and trust me Irish comedians are only here because they earn more, and I can only name a few, so sorry if facts annoy you
@gallowglass2630 Because Irish comedians are good at British humour 👍
@@c_n_b Its irish humour when they do it
Alan is my husband’s name, I did this yesterday to him as he had his headphones on, my daughter was in hysterics and then she started saying Steve to him 😂
😂😂😂
haha that's great! :)
When I was a kid, there used to be a program on TV called animal magic with a presenter called Johnny Morris (showing my age now). He used to do voice overs for animals in different situations, very funny.
I remember that too.
I used to love that show! Didn't he have that co presenter who was doing something with a seal or sealion called Gemini and it bit one of his fingers off?
I remember thinking that Animal Magic was very clever, but for some reason, I just couldn't stand it! 🤷♂️😆
used to be a staple of children's TV but then the complaints came in about making fun of animals and not giving them
respect, giving animals human responses
@@ianprince1698 really? I didn't know that! That's so silly! I posted a video on Facebook of my horse doing something stupid and looking like a fool. I got grief from a animal welfare group for embarrassing my horse 😂 When my horse gets a job, buys himself a phone and a phone contract, grows opposable thumbs and signs up for Facebook so he can see himself being ripped into on Facebook, THEN I'll start worrying about offending him
I just came home from a depressing hospital appointment and said, "Come on, CZcams, give me something happy to look at." and this was the first thing i saw. You two just make life happier for everyone.
So glad this cheered you up and I'm sorry your hospital appointment was depressing - I hope you have many happy, joy-filled days ahead.
That's such a nice thing to say after your horrible day. Hope you're feeling more uplifted now.
Sorry you had a bad appointment. ❤️ I'm glad we could bring some joy to your day in spite of the rough start, though. Wishing you well!
That was a bad time to be a man called Alan working 'on the tools'. Never a day went by without them being called 100 times, from different directions at once. Lindsey will LOVE 'Creature Comforts' too.
At the Glasto fesitival, if anyone called out for a friend a chorus of 'Alan, Alan, Al' arose
Love Creature Comforts 😂😂
That's hilarious! Yeah...I bet it got old for guys named Alan :)
Yes, Creature Comforts!
@@reactingtomyroots It did for the one I worked with/for hee hee hee hee. I was so annoying.
It was from a programme on bbc1 called Walk on the Wild Side, there were two series.
Yes, it was an actual BBC tv comedy show, called Walk on the Wild Side with nature footage being dubbed with voiceovers for the animals. There were 2 series made, for a total of 13 episodes. :)
The puffin sketch singing the 'Rabbit' song was taken from a UK band called Chas and Dave. They did tunes for the likes of Only Fools and Horses which is a British sitcom that everyone in Britain quote from. It is iconic.
If you're referring to the theme tune that wasn't chas n Dave it was John Sullivan, the writer, singing it. Absolutely agree about the series though. Best British sitcom ever!!. A reaction to that would be great.
@@markorollo. The Rabbit song was written by Chas and Dave.
I would highly recommend the Morcambe and Wise breakfast sketch. British Comedy genius at it's best
Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh yes please it is absolutely brilliant.
Oh yeh!
Or the Andre Previn sketch. Mr Preview and Grieg. 😂😂
This clip came from a BBC TV series called "Walk On The Wild Side" which ran between 2009-2013, with voiceovers by various comedians. The BBC nature documentary department has tons of great nature footage which can be used for this, I'm surprised it took them this long to come up with this idea!
"Alan" was an in joke about Steve Coogan constantly repeating his character's name when rehearsing to play Alan Partridge.
You want me to send you a telegram? Wait 'til you find out about these things called fax machines. It's gonna blow your mind.
This was a BBC Series called Walk On The Wild Side and the voices were some well known comedians, Jason Manford, Rhod Gilbert, Harriet Carmichael, Sarah Millican and Steve Edge to name a few. Really funny and clever series
Just wanted to say I've loved seeing Lyndsey on a few of your videos. Such a lovely lady and her smile just lights up the screen. More of Lyndsey, please.
❤️
Great to see your wife taking part again. You have a lovely family.
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the newer videos :)
There used to be a TV program on BBC in the 1960's and early 1970' called Animal Magic hosted by a guy named Johnny Morris that did a similar thing. Many people thought that Johnny Morris was an actual zoo keeper so effect was he with the animals. I think this program was the first of its kind.
He also used to narrate a program called 'Tales of the River Bank' it is in black and white but I think your daughter might find it captivating. czcams.com/video/-VTn6VlUXNA/video.html
Thanks we'll save that to check out!
This is why it's almost always better with multiple people reacting, multiple perspectives and a wider viewpoint. Take each other out of your comfort zone and we get to see a more entertaining and educational response... Because we're learning from you as much as you're learning from the material you select...
Very true! :)
I think what you mention at the beginning about the difference between your and Lindsey's interest in topics is a great way to introduce variety to your channel. Honestly I love hearing your thoughtful analysis on the deeper topics and I feel those videos would be better suited to you doing solo, but for the fun topics and things where Lindsey can offer a counter perspective to yours then it's great to see more of her 😊
Loving your wife joining you, that's not to say I don't love you, I do. You and the family are extremely wholesome and I'm loving it.
We really need to get you and your family over here exploring.
Thanks, appreciate you :) We're hoping to soon!
Can I just say… as much as I love you Steve it’s fabulous when Lindsay hops on too. You guys are much appreciated. Have a super lovely day guys❤
Thanks! Love to hear that :)
This was a very funny BBC TV Series called "Walk on the Wild Side" that ran from 2009 to 2013 and used the vocal talents of various British Comedians. Hope that helps.
i think im right in saying the last owl was voiced by Rhod Gilbert, Welsh comedian, very funny guy.
Lol @ Animals with British Voiceovers... "Steve, Steve, Steve"
I've watched various people doing reaction videos and I think you, Steve are one of the more intelligent & thoughtful reactors and bringing in Lindsey has made your videos even better.
Appreciate that! Thanks :)
You should check out the old PG Tips tea adverts with the chimpanzees. The chimps in the ads lived at Twycross Zoo. We also have many iconic and classic comedy series like On the Buses, Only Fools and Horses, Steptoe and Son, Fawty Towers, Some Mother's do 'ave 'em, 'Allo 'Allo.
For a second I got excited that it was going to be Creature Comforts, which you deffo should check out…
And it’s in handy 8 minutes clips, the whole family can watch, you get to hear lots of different regional accents too. Check ‘Animals in the ‘Hood’
Yes it was the BBC, the series was called `A Walk on the wild side', it used to be on a Saturday night around 6 pm.
Thanks for that , couldn't remember the name
When these first came out on TV here, People were shouting out ''STEVE'' in the street. Imagine what a tough time guys named Steve had, especially at work.
The Alan one was calling you STEVE! 😂😂😂😂
As soon as it starts and barely a second has passed 😂😂
The worst thing about this video is that you can’t see these animals ever again without thinking of these voices😂
That was the best hello ever 🤣👍
'Creature comforts' is very funny.
Lindsay, get him under control. Great as allways!!!!
I worked with the Royal Colledge of Nursing northern rep union guy a few years ago, his name was Alan. A nurse came looking for him in my theatre suite early one day, just myself and alan in the unit, so I started shouting Alan, Alan , Alan.... just like the groundhog... she looked mortified... Alan laughed!
Dude can sing! Wasn't ready. Cool!
Your wife brings another dimension to your channel, that video was innocent fun😅😅
this reminds of one of my favorite kids shows ANIMAL MAGIC hosted by the great Jonny Morris as the zoo keeper which ran from 1962 to 1983
That's my name Alan, I've heard it MILLIONS of times but it still gets me lol 😂
Alan, Alan, Al, Alan -- I have that as my ringtone and the number of times I reached for my mobile during this clip was basically the same number of times it appeared in the clip...
Great reaction by the two of you.
We do the ‘Alan’ skit in our house often 😂 I love it
It’s great to see you doing something different. Sorry to tell your wife that she has such a happy face that being serious doesn’t suit here lol
haha, very true!
It is the bbc, its from a short series called walk on the wildside from a few years back. They are all voiced by british comedians and theres quite a few more different ones
This was a show on BBC called “Walk on the Wild Side”. And it was pure brilliance
Thanks for putting a smile on my face, I've been struggling today, you both are just what I needed xx
So glad we could bring you a smile! Appreciate you watching :)
Tha Alan is my ringtone when the wife calls
😂
That was hilarious. I loved the groundhog (?) shouting at Alan then realising he'd got the wrong name so started shouting Steve. All the more funny as that actually happened to me once, lol. The air drummer really cracked me up though! Great stuff. :)
You two are so lovely together :)
My kids STILL make me mute animal shows to do the voice of the animals😂
At our dance class we have a guy called Alan and we’re always doing this to him, if he goes out to the bathroom when he comes back we all keep going Alan Alan Alan!
Stephen Merchant does the monkey voice over. He's also the voice over for the Robot in Portal 2.
@@Reactingtomyroots1... it’s beginning to smell a lot like…bullshit. This was a reaction to a scam comment, if anyone is confused.
I think Lindsey would love stand up comedian Sarah Millican she's really funny and her voice was used in this video , she was the female Giraffe .
Also Rhod Gilbert as the freaked out owl 😂
Sarah Millican is a bit "risqué" for the channel though, Lol. Sometimes she's rollicking along quite cleanly and then she lets a bomb drop!
Risque is putting it mildly lol , but she's funny with it . I've watched dozens of reactors reacting to her over the last few years and i find British women laugh coz they get it and American women blush & then laugh . But i still think SM is the best start for Lindsey to learn what the British sense of humour is all about from a female point of view lol . @@sharonmartin4036
Do you think they would understand her? Cos I can’t hardly!
Lynsey would love Sarah Millican I’m sure!!!
I have a dvd of this series, my favourite is the daytime, nighttime bird lol.
Aw we love Lindsey!(sp?) You are just such a beautiful couple it makes my heart smile 🥰 another great video I was laughing so hard 😂😂
It was a BBC One programme - the BBC does do comedy! A lot of it actually!!
Lovely to see Lindsay with you again.
Creature comforts should check, brilliant lol
Most folk here in UK know exactly what someone means when they start shouting Alan, Alan...Steve!!!!
David Attenborough narrating ' Portia the spider 🕷️ ' is excellent viewing . Not comedy, perfectly serious but beautifully done .And I speak as someone who is scared of spiders . The camera work and timing is something else 🎉
The beatbox squirrel has gotta be the best thing you could see 😂😂
I think you should watch Al Murray the pub landlord very funny
It was from the BBC actually. The voices are comedians. The mom with wolverine and sabertooth was Sarah Millican and one of the kids was Jason Manford. They were also the giraffes.
The voiceovers on ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ are British comedians, many of which work for the BBC.
I recognise the voices of Alan Davies, Rhod Gilbert, Jason Manford and Sarah Millican.
Jason Manford, Stephen Merchant, Ricky Gervais and Sarah Millican are some noteworthy names of the people behind the voices there.
Rhod Gilbert was another one I recognised.
These are so old but I never get tired of them!! 😂
My dad was called Alan, we used to say it to him like that all the time!
What was missing from the 'Alan' sketch was before he starts shouting he sees his friend walking toward an open manhole...
All the two Ronnie were gold, so brilliant. 😁
"Try not to laugh.."?... impossible!! 🤣. That video has me in tears I laugh soooo much! 😁. Just one request Steve, not important... could the volume on the video clip be raised? It may not be something you can do, as I've noticed the same problem (quiet video clip audio) on similar channels 😯. But I'm loving all your content anyway! 😍 ❤
From the BBC TV programme 'A Walk On the Wild Side'.
When I loose my husband in the supermarket (he flits along at the other end of aisles, I can never quite catch him); "Alan! Alan! Alan! Alan!" gets him very time :)
hahah that's great! :)
Tbf the beatboxing chipmunk is a french guy but thats why we take credit 😂
That was a BBC show called "walk on the wild side" the voices are all comedians. it had 3 series.
I saw the thumbnail and started saying "Alan, Alan"!!
I'm from England we're not good at a lot of things but comedy is one of them love the video 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great to see you and Lindsey on this funny video l look forward to seeing both of you together you are a lovely couple more please❤
Love seeing Lindsey with you! You’re a great team ❤
❤️
You should do a reaction to the Stephen Fry differences between American and British comedy... It's incredibly astute.
Never heard of that! I'll have to look it up
@@reactingtomyroots yes...in general, I imagine you would find Stephen Fry interesting 👍
@@nightowl5395Or even Quite Interesting.
i remember the pg tips teabag adverts when i was a child during the 80s an 90s featuring chimpanzees from twycross zoo tamworth
Also Billy Connely, he’s hilarious!
Alan & Dave are in the Special Air Service. The voice overs go back to a guy called Johnny Morris in the 60s/70s. He's passed now but his input into wildlife education for children was massive.
Re British standup, id definitely recommend Paul Smith but he’s definitely not safe for work! Billy Connolley is incredible too
There are whole tv programmes on these funny animals, used to on a 10 minutes or so.
Creature comforts is a guid watch
It was made for the BBC if not by the BBC
Not sure if this would be your thing but cracks me up every time I’ve seen it, its African animals eating fermented friut, worth checking out if you haven’t already seen it 😂
I think you may be thinking of a film from the 1970's called Beautiful People. It does have baboons and ( I think) elephants who eat fermented fruit and then get hangovers. However, there is a part of the film about flamingos who nest on a lake high in salt or soda. What happens to their babies made me upset when I saw this film at the cinema. There may be other video somewhere of animals getting drunk on fermented fruit. But this film is the one I remember seeing.
Alan, Alan, Alan...........
Steve, Steve 😂
American and British humour is so different only 2 American comedians make me laugh Robin Williams & Joan rivers brilliant 👏👏👏
Seen it before and it’s still funny 🤣🤣🌸
Shortly after this came out I was working abroad and frequented an Irish bar in the evenings after work. The Irish guys would do the Alan Alan thing every time I walked in ( you guessed it my name is Alan) my friend Steve also frequented the bar. So one night,I actually arrived about 2 minutes before Steve ( he normally finished earlier) it was perfectly timed. I got the usual Alan Alan for about 2 minutes as I died of thirst then Steve walked in to uproar from the staff. Needless to say we actually got a free drink after they picked themselves of the floor about 15 minutes later!
Brilliant thanks mate 👍
Billy Connelly is funny ,the one with the suicide bomber in glasgow, and the dwarf on the bus😂😂😂
We love Lindsay!!! X
Has someone been hiding a singing voice under a bushel? 🤔
I can't remember what century it was that I was last able to hit Jackson ee-hee 😆
1962 to 1983 there was a BBC kids program called Animal Magic hosted first by Johnny Morris and later Terry Nutkin, with him and various people doing the voices of the animals. It was in a similar vein to this video. Unfortunately the BBC in their wisdom got rid of most of the recordings in the early 1990’s.
