  • Today I want to find out what the difference is between my $1900 NOBL Carbon wheels and a set of moderately priced $328 wheels. Let’s take a closer look at these 2 Enduro Mountain Bikes and take them out on my test loop to see how these 2 very different MTBs ride on the same trails. In this video series, I’ll be Upgrading everything on the N7 with a $1000 budget to see how close I can get it to feel to a bike Twice the Price. Welcome to High vs Low!

Totally agree with you bro recently did the same thing upgrading the wheels on my colossus in nine and immediately noticed a difference just like you said, love my bike now.
Can you put on great content bro!

Spending just $328 for such a dramatic difference is way sweeter than 6× that for incrementally smaller improvements. Can't knock chasing the unobtainium though, just as guilty as anyone for it

Really looking forward to the rest of this series. In the market for some new rims for my T8. I’m impatiently waiting for some good Black Friday deals for rims and brakes. Would have been cool to see the comparison between the weight of the dream build versus the budget build. Also, kudos for giving Evan props. A

Definitely agree. Wheels and tires make a big improvement. Curious to see what you do with the brakes. I'm skeptical about that 4 piston/2 piston combo.

My answer is everything too. But no need to get an expensive rear derailleur. I have a expensive bike, yet I ride with a Shimano Deore M6100 SGS Rear derailleur.
Also you don't need wireless dropper post, and self adjusting suspension. Nor titanium cranks that cost as much as a decent entry level hardtail.
    Important things:
decent hub engagement, appropriate rim width, proper tyres, the tyres have to have a strong bead(not Maxxis it's weak), sidewall, nice compound and great thread. A proper tyre will make track stands, extreme cornering easier, more stable.
Oval chain ring is a must, no more knee pain, ride faster, easier and longer.
Bike must stay secure, no loosening of bolts and bearings pushed out, rd hanger bent on every ride. Yes that actually can happen on some bikes, I had a bike like that, was so flexy the sidewall had a constant line on the right side.
A secure stem is also important I found Race Face Atlas to be horrible, but Renthal Apex passed the test, as long as Loctite is used, torqued to spec it's secure and stays secure trough months, in fast changing temps, I've had it trough the winter, where I took it out in -10C from room temp. and riding when temps dropped fast or increased fast, both winter and summer.
I've had it hold trough whole winter, despite all of the tempo changes. eventually it loosens slightly as Loctite wears, but no need to check every single ride and ten mins out on the ride to prevent bar or stem from spinning.
Frame quality is important. faced brake mounts, bottom bracket, head tube and so on.
Suspension must have rebound adjustment as a minimum.
Bottom bracket must have angular contact bearings.
Of course No more resin only brake pads please, bike industry please stop this madness. proper steel rotors won't cost much more.
No creaking fork, so not a Fox, overpriced. I can get them cheap second hand for less than half of the retail price if I'm patient. If you want a great fork at a premium go for EXT ERA. If you want cheapest fork go second hand Rock Shox probably.
    I might have forgotten something.

Very cool! Imformative contents about upgrades. However one pain point that I would like to point out is that if you could give more recommendations/suggestions on other wheel options too at the end. Yes! definetly I enjoyed how you compared one wheel with other but hoped to see more wheels options. I know if would be long video but maybe cut down the demo part a bit and add few clips on other recommendations? sorry if it sounded selfish in anyway hah!
Anyway can't wait for the brake setup part. Hoping to see more options/recommendations on next episode. (what would be your next buget friendly wheels or brakes?) Cheers!!

  • @downhillupside
    @downhillupside Před 6 měsíci

I guess it really depends on how disparate the quality of components. I'd say an upgrade from a low-end, walmart-esque suspension system to fox factory front and rear will make a MUCH larger difference in ride quality compared to a low end wheel set upgrade to a set of carbon nobl hoops. If you're going from a bomber z2 to fox factory, definitely not the same change.
