    As Tesla matures, their build quality has improved. I got my Performance 3 last August and the panel alignment is excellent. Also, the white paint makes irregularities much more obvious.
    I love the same things you do about it and love the reaction I get from passengers when I step on the accelerator and pin them back in their seats.
    As for the profile issue, a recent software update allows you to tie it to your phone. So when you get in, the car uses your preferences and when your wife gets in, it sees her phone and sets up for her.
    In the case where you both are in the car, you can choose a preferred profile for the typical driver (assuming she lets you drive) 😋
    I love this car and believe that it's the most amazing vehicle I've ever driven.

    I have FSD Beta and it is amazing... I just returned to the US after 18 days in Italy. And even though I had no "Official" update the FSD has greatly improved. Tesla has major updates that you need to download, but they do tweeks inbetween without official updates. It does 4 Way Stops, Roundabouts, Light controlled intersections and more amazingly well.

    I'm in Hong Kong, returning for good to the UK end of June. I ordered my Model Y on the 10th of May and it's scheduled for delivery from September to November. I've got a problem with my right foot which means for the short term I'm going to have a hand control fitted. Found a great company online. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands "literally" on my new car. Great video Jordan. You can just see the admiration on your face.

    Things have improved significantly over the past few years. As a Tesla Model Y owner I have no panel gaps at all that are in any way noticeable and I carefully inspected the car for over an hour when collecting. Regarding the phone key - again improvements - I've got a 100% success rate with the phone key - it always unlocks when approached and a handle is tried.
    Regarding the profiles - I thought I had this issue too, BUT it was my fault for not setting things up correctly - in the driver profile screen there are various options to setup the key / profile match. My mistake was doing this while in Easy Entry mode. Since done correctly it again is 100% accurate.

    Battery preconditioning just means reaching an optimal temperature (40-ish Celsius?). While you drive, temperature builds up in the system anyway. Now, if you head for charging and the battery is already warm enough, it may just need few minutes to reach the temp, hence preconditioning starts close to the destination. What it does it redirects the heat from motors to battery pack, might also build more heat by intentionally running the motors in less efficient way

    • @omgitsZAN4
      @omgitsZAN4 Před 2 lety

      You are correct regarding battery temperature regulation enabled for pre condition prior to Fast charge. Untimely the battery will be either heated or cooled dependant on its temperature upon request to rapid charge.However, Tesla use Snake tubes with their HV voltage battery. Effectively coolant is stored within the Snake-tube which runs between all 4680 individual cells.

    • @7z9
      @7z9 Před 2 lety

      @@omgitsZAN4 right, collant flows to transfer the heat in and out of battery pack, though octovalve and radiator/motors depending on the need.
      Although there's only a handful of 4680 Model Ys. Jordan's M3 is 2170 based. Idea is pretty much the same though.

    • @omgitsZAN4
      @omgitsZAN4 Před 2 lety

    The profile switching can be setup by selecting the correct profile in car and then clicking the profile person alongside phone key in locks. Sounds like both profiles are associated with your phone. I had the same issue and this fixed it.

    Great review! The car was made in Tesla's Fremont Factory, an automobile manufacturing plant in Fremont, California. It was a very big building. Closer to my home it takes about 1 hour to drive there. Also your tires on the right side I think you hit the curb. It might cause alignment. The profile switching should be set up by selecting the correct profile in the car and then clicking the profile person alongside the phone key in the locks. Sounds like both profiles are associated with your phone idea. Thumbs up!! Cheers!! 🤟

    Precondition works on the cars ability to not only know how warm hothead battery already is as well as the cars ability to cary this out through your current and forecasted driving style ( maybe driving at high speed to the charger V in traffic towards it)

However, I now own at 22 Model 3 LR built in Shanghai, and the build quality has massively improved. Also the interior has updated and improved. I've had long range model 3 for 6 months and absolutely love it. I am from Australia. Car was made in China an d has no panel gap issues. Acceleration is slower than your unit (4s 0-100km/h) and tire wear seems OK. Phone key works 100% of time even when phone locked.
    My wife hates the acceleration so I have to drive sedately when she is in car. She still prefers her Toyota Prius so never drives it. Kids love it especially the acceleration and "Party time" app. Running costs are low and cost me

    The issue with the phone not unlocking the car is due to the phone stopping apps running when they are backgrounded. You can enable background app refresh on an iPhone which should fix this. I believe Android has a similar setting.

    I’d love to see DC home chargers become a thing, the Delta DC 25KW Wallbox would be perfect for homes here in the US, it’s the only single phase 240v charger with this much power I’ve seen on the DC side of things, the only little problem is that it needs about 134Amps with a 170Amp breaker, which is a lot considering the average US home only has a 100Amp service, so a call to the electric company, a new breaker panel and a rewire with larger gauge cables will likely be needed for many people wishing to install one…

      @@ashb8572 Can't disagree with you there, but this is where the craziness of car financing and company car lists come in. When we got ours 2 and a bit years ago, the list of EVs was Tesla, Audi e Tron SUV and Mercedes EQC. Didn't want an SUV and Teslas were the same price. Performance model was £30/month LESS than the Long Range and only £15/month more than the Standard Range. All of them were cheaper than a Skoda Fabia due to the questionable tax benefits available. Performance version is ridiculously overpriced compared to the other Model 3s and all of them look overpriced compared to the MGs, but they're still not on the list. Once the tax rules change to something more normal I'll probably join you. The one certainty is that I won't be going back to ICE.

    My March 22 LR from China is flawless. I hate to say that, because I try and avoid supporting the Chinese economy, with all the wrongs China is perpetrating in the world, but two of us spent a good hour inspecting the car before accepting it, and could find nothing wrong. No paint flaws, perfect panel gaps and alignment, etc. Just a muddy mark on the driver's door sill.
    No scuffed wheels, so far, in 1,000 miles, but it's only a matter of time.

      Took me about 2 hours to adapt, now I would say it's more annoying to look through a wheel, seems like silly idea. I rarely if at all touch the screen when driving, all the key features for driving are on the stalks and wheel controls, and for picking music and navigation there's voice recognition that works well enough.

    I’ve achieved 10000 miles with my M3LR. Excellent car overall.
    One thing that’s very bad: Spare Parts availability.
    It’s a reliable car. But I got a stone impact on the windscreen, result was a long crack. It can happen to any car. The bad news: no replacement windscreen due to global shortages! That’s been the case for the last two months. Autoglass say this is just a problem with Teslas, other brands are all in stock.
    Luckily the crack is on the passenger side, so I can keep going, but some drivers have had their car parked up for months!
    Tesla really need to match high reliability with low repair time. They don’t, and that will really hurt their brand if they don’t sort it out.

      Persevere! I have suggested I take the car direct to a Tesla Service Centre. I have had a quote from them now and awaiting Admiral approval to go ahead and pay it for myself, claim back from them less the glass excess as per the policy.
      Good luck.

    I’ve followed your reports on installing Tesla home chargers, and completely agree and understand your love of the vehicle, but one thing I don’t understand: why when explaining and executing the installation process do you make it so frigging complicated!? I at 76 installed my 220 volt charging system with the help of my neighbor and found it very easy and straightforward. Granted I don’t understand the British electrical system (and never will), but our US electrical system makes it SO much simpler and easier to understand and execute, following Tesla’s clear directions, that I wish you would explain why you don’t use their furnished charging equipment? It almost appears that your approach is designed to increase substantially the cost and complexity so an electrician HAS to be called.

    Agree with lots of things in the vid and hoping becuae there were some dislikes you don't feel the anger of the Tesla FBs. You did sort of contradict yourself a little when talking about the charging network. Saying you don't have to have downloaded an app and setup payment details but then charge the car using a system that you have had to previously setup and provide payment details to. If the super charger network is opened up in the UK like other parts of the EU it will be exactly like what you mentioned as a negative because the casual person wanting to charge will need download an app, setup and so on which is what EV drivers and commentators seam to moan about all the time. Now if it was opened up and had contactless payment bingo job done and Tesla could charge more per unit consumed.

    • @drcuffe
      @drcuffe Před 2 lety

      No, when you have a Tesla you have an account. All your details, where you can pay for services, upgrades etc. when you pull up to Tesla supercharge. It knows the car and automatically charges your account. For instance I pulled up same time as Audi at rugby services. I instantly started charging, he faffed around. Wallet out, phone out. He then moved his car, frustrated we up kern. Wallet out, phone out. Took 8 minutes for my car to add 85 miles. He had only just started charging as I drove out. Only some charge points are being opened to all charges and this is duty to corrupt politics.

    The thing with autopilot is it can react far faster than you can. This means when it gives up and passes back control to you there may be only be milliseconds until everything goes horribly wrong. I also believe it records video of your face when it is on. This is evidence to be used against you should the car crash. You fell asleep or were not paying attention. If you were paying full attention then there would not have been a crash therefore it is your fault. I wonder what the insurance companies will make of that.

  • @altypeRR
    @altypeRR Před 2 lety

    It is, in the U.K. completely illegal to use autopilot. Some lane keeping systems do allow you to legally take your hands off the wheel up to 37mph but certainly driving at motorway speed is illegal.
    My biggest issue with Tesla is you never really own the car. I mean you can physically own it but while over the air updates are great it also gives Tesla the ability to disable features which you have bought.

    • @anthonydyer3939
      @anthonydyer3939 Před 2 lety +1

      It’s not illegal to use autopilot. It’s a driver assist feature. However what is illegal is driving without due care and attention. A car wouldn’t be legal to have on the road, let alone drive, if it has functions that aren’t approved by the DVSA.
      As for disabling features. It’s is still a car, a piece of hardware, and a product that is subject to the sale of goods act. It must be as described, sufficiently durable, and fit for purpose. There is an 8 year warranty for the battery, which guarantees a minimum performance at the end of the period.
      That said, there are issues with transfer of ownership in relation to optional software enabled extras. For instance I have not seen terms and conditions governing whether / how full self driving is preserved when you sell the car. I have heard stories of 2nd hand owners having their FSD being switched off when Tesla discovered the car wasn’t owned by the original account holder. Therefore there’s a risk that Tesla could be somewhat whimsical on such matters. For that reason I’d never buy software extras if the ownership cannot be transferred to the new owner.
