    Great to see Reuben progressing, he has a great attitude and will go far. Too often electrical companies treat their apprentices like crap in my opinion, great to see a company like Artisan who are not like that at all. With all due respect to Cory I really like seeing Reuben work with other electricians like John as you see him relax a bit more knowing that his dad’s not watching over him 😄 Not that Cory is intimidating but you are naturally going to feel more uncomfortable when it is someone you know personally judging your work. That being said I would love to see the apprentice swap happen with Nick Bundy as it would be great to see how Reuben and Adam get on working with someone who works completely differently to what they’re used to. Keep up the great work

Also you might have had a bit of good luck getting the job, but it's your hard work, commitment, enthusiasm and your willingness to learn that keeps you in the job. Great Job Reuben, if there’s one thing I’d pick out, and maybe it’s just personal preference but I’d never run cables above the terminal and back, god forbid and water did get in, it’s just going to run down into the terminal.
    But other than great work, it’s amazing to see how far you’ve come!! Keep smashing it!

    • @JasperJanssen
      @JasperJanssen Před 2 lety +1

      Gotta leave some extra length though, when doing a first installation, to make life easier for the next bloke. And I don’t think there’s a neater way to do so, unless maybe a coil underneath.
      If there’s literal falling water dropping through the charger case and hitting those coils I don’t think a few drops on the terminals are ever going to be the main concern.

    Only one thing I noted when Reuben was wiring up the Zappy, and as it wasn't even live it's more of a nitpick than anything, I suppose, but I thought I'd mention it and see if other people follow this rule.
    I was always taught to connect the ground first, then the neutral, then the live, in that order, as that's the safest way to work. When disconnecting do the opposite, obviously - live first, then neutral, then ground.
    Does anyone else follow that rule? It seems like a little thing, but I suppose it really could save your life.
    Regardless, love to see Reuben developing and becoming more confident! Awesome job nurturing his skills Artisan.

      Yeah when I was an early days apprentice i terminated the active first to get it tucked away and then I was shown the way you do it by one of the best sparkys I’ve worked with and the way he explained why he does it that way made sense to me so I got into the habit, like you said if youre terminating the load end first not such a biggy but earth first so it’s earthed then the neutral because particularly these days some electronics, equipment etc must have that return path then the active last

    Brilliant job guys! So cool to see Reuben doing all this given the relatively short time he’s been on the team.
    Question: Is there a reg against running the cable fully behind or at least alongside the drain pipe? Just thinking it would be such an easy way to make it invisible all the way down, until it loops back up to the Zappi.

    Why arent you leaving the earth longer then L1 and N? Atleast in Finland we always leave earth a bit longer so if it wud happen that the capel get pulled, earth is the last one to get ripped out

    instead of climbing the wire all the way down on the outside why not make it come out where the charger be so to hide the cable completely?

  • @michaels8336
    @michaels8336 Před 2 lety

    Genuine question (not a sparky), why do you terminate in the charger when you need to carry out IR and R1+R2 tests first, does that not mean having to then remove them again and then refit after testing?

      @@heladas90 yeah it was just the case of pointless taking the time to terminate to then remove again.

      Remember, you’re seeing a highly edited video. Time, sequence, and performance are the interpretation of the editor. The Artisan teams have become very good at working as efficiently as possible while the raw footage is being recorded.

      You're not a sparky!!! You seem to be knowledgeable on dead tests. IR test the cable should be disconnected at the charger due to possible damage but R1 and R2 can be tested with the circuit fully connected mate.

    Allows interesting to watch your videos. Professional staff doing very professional work. However there are two things that I find unusual and also seem somewhat dangerous to me when I consider the manner services are wired up in most residences in New South Wales.
    Firstly, Is it standard for your consumer units to be placed inside the building, in positions that seem somewhat ridiculous and in inconvenient places to access for them to be worked on?
    Secondly, If the above is standard, How are you not driven insane by the apparent craziness and How do you disconnect the service in an emergency if you cannot gain access to the consumer unit?

      Awkward and ridiculous consumer unit placement is not only standard, it’s a requirement. 😜🇬🇧👍🏻
