  • Spoiler Free Reading Experience of the 12th book in The Wheel of Time.
I am nearing the end of reading The Wheel of Time. This took me more than a year. Yet in all that time I did only one dedicated video on this amazing series. Which is kind of strange, as this is the series that got me back into reading fantasy. So, it’s about time I give The Wheel of Time more attention. I’ll be reviewing the final three books in the series separately, starting today with The Gathering Storm.

@bjminton2698 I am curious if you’ve started reading Duncton Wood already. I just finished Duncton Quest (book 2) on audio. 36 years after my first read I’m still blown away!!

I just started it yesterday! It's a pretty big book, and I'm reading 4 others, so it may take a while. I'll keep you posted 🙂.
I'm not much of a re-reader, especially with books that I loved. It would not be good if I no longer liked it and lost that bright memory. Very glad you still loved it! Thanks for checking in 😊.

@@bjminton2698 Same here when it comes to rereading books. This was really me trying audio for the first time. I killed 2 birds with 1 stone here: revisiting some of my most favorite reads of all time, and finding out how wonderful an audio book can be. Enjoy your Horwood-ride.

This is the wheel of time book that never fails to make me cry. I’m curious, were you close to tears at any point? Did you actually cry or at least get choked up? SPOILERS for gathering storm below:
I cry when Rand tells Nyneave to feel the things he no longer can.😢

There are very emotional scenes and my heart did beat like wild at times. But cry or choked up, no, even though I cry easily. (During my reread of The Duncton Chronicles now I tear up all the time.)

Hi Ed. I haven’t commented recently but I’ve been watching all of your videos as they come out. I’m just finishing ACOS. It’s not bad at all, but for some reason I’m just fatigued from the series at this point.
I took about a 4 month break from WOT, between Fires of Heaven and Lord of Chaos. I found that returning after a significant break helped tremendously, meanwhile “binge” reading the books or reading each entry in direct succession drained my enjoyment/willingness to immerse myself in the books. I was just wondering if you felt this same way while reading through Wheel of Time. Do you think taking breaks between books improves your reading experience of WoT when you eventually return to it? Or do you prefer reading them in succession as you did early on? Do you notice a difference at all?
Just was curious about your opinion. I really can’t wait to get to the Sanderson books. I know for a fact Memory of Light will be just amazing. I coincidentally have your same rule of only reading one “big” fantasy series at a time. I’m going to have to throw this rule in the trash because I’m so excited to start Stormlight, and not so excited for the rest of WoT.
Anyway, thanks for indulging my long posts as always. I just finished a sci-fi book called Howling Dark and it was INCREDIBLE. Might be my new favorite book ever. Happy reading !

Hi Henry, yes I also experienced that a break from WoT helps to keep an appetite for the series. How long of a break it requires is personal. Your next 3 books proved to be ‘sloggish’ for me. Still, after each break beginning a new volume felt like coming home.
