How else do u keep her distracted while you're working? I've been working from home since March 2020 and I could really use a companion since my parents work all morning and sisters still work in retail as essential employees. I've been wanting a dog since forever, but luckily I've been doing a lot of research on dachshunds and I'm sold! I'm looking for one to adopt but as of now, I'm still doing a lot of research on their health, what activities they like to do, and how I can keep them happy and how to train them. Thank you so much for your videos!! They've been really helpful and informative :)

I totally enjoyed the video my sister had a dachshund she rescued it just before Christmas of 2019 she was 10 years old blind ndiabetic and my sister is in her early 70s and she’s diabetic rescued the dog and we had to put her down just before Christmas so I seen your little cutey makes me happy because I really miss my sister’s dog

How long did it take Stella to be more independent? Does she suffer from separation anxiety?
❤ maybe take her a food allergy testing for most foods so that maybe one day she can eat soft simple cooked food like basic boiled chicken. Maybe do allergy test for salmon or any fish and also yogurt. Yogurt is great for gut health. Second opinions are nice in general but especially for dogs because not all vets believe or practice the same. Good luck. Hugs to your cute doggy. Take care❤

Do you have a local doggy daycare? On days when my boys are restless & i’m busy or can’t take them to the park i take them to daycare. It’s helped with their developmental socialization too!
Yes daycare has helped Stella so much! It’s really improved her reactivity with dogs

how worried are you with back injuries and playing with other dogs? we have a 1 year old corgi and we are getting a mini long haired dachshund to join our family, and my husband's number one fear is the dachshund getting a back injury while playing with other dogs and i'm trying to ease his mind a little

my mini is 5 months i adore her!! she’s such a picky eater tho, she won’t eat any dog food or really any table food except chicken sometimes. Such a struggle , she’s so picky 😂
It’s funny because everyone told me doxies were gluttons but Stella is the same! She’s such a picky eater we sometimes have to add treats to her meals haha
Holly Obee yes haha!! we have tried every brand possible, to the point we might hire a dog nutritionist!! She’s a pain but it’s worth it, stella is the sweetest btw :))
You really need to get another one. Dachshunds are best in vast numbers. I had 3 males at one time a 6lb, 11lb, and a 20 lb. all short haired red coat. The big one was scared of the two smaller ones but would attack any dog bigger than him including pitbulls. It was like running an asylum. I wish I could have those days back.

this may be offtopic but I love the fact that you decided not to wear make-up ... it's just I feel like the internet is a place for so many people to present themselves in a certain way and it's really refreshing to see someone being authentic and natural. It's a lot more relatable and I feel like I can make a better connection to the person then. Besides, you look absolutely gorgeous and don't need any make-up at all! :)

I’m no professional but what worked with Stella is everytime she wakes up from a nap, after she eats, or if she goes more than a few hours without going out!

I'm at the end of my wits!!! 😢 I take my dog out to teach her to do her duties and she doesn't. She comes in the house and poops and pees everywhere! We've been trying a pad and she does at times but than goes on floor. She's almost 4 months. Need help please!!! Thank you

how do you get your dachshund to eat the kibble? Mine is a little brat!
Oh it was a struggle! Mine was picky too. I went through about 8 different kibbles, tried adding wet food, adding treats, adding water, etc. Then finally consulted my vet and he said she was likely playing me to get special treats in her food (because she’d ignore the food when it was plain), and to put the food down for 10 mins twice a day and if she doesn’t eat then she doesn’t eat. He said if she went more than 6 meals without eating to go back, but she started eating after 5 missed meals and now she’s learned her lesson and eats her kibble at the proper times!

How long did it take for Stella to get potty trained?
Honestly almost a year 😅
Lol. Doxies are nortoriously difficult to house break. Our 1st doxie (when I was age 6-16) had a dogie door in that house and it helped a lot. (Not counting the time he whizzed on my Lego castle 😡...) 2nd dog was HARD to train.

I take her about every 2-3 hours! Unless she’s sleeping, if she’s sleeping or in her crate she can go longer
I feed my weiner dog hill science diet sensitive stomach and skin and it works amazing for her!
Do you crate stella?
Yes and I swear by it! She loves her crate and it’s saved me so many times

Once you learn what is in kibble you will never feed it to your pet again. Read "The Whole Pet Diet" by Andi Brown. I have made my Dachshund's food at home since i got him as a puppy. Our Vet says he is incredibly healthy. No doggie breath and his coat is silky soft.
Did Stella ever have biting/nipping issues? I have a 13 week old mini dachshund that loves to bite when he plays. It’s probably just because he’s teething but it’s annoyyying. We’ll get through it.
Also I know you’re not a vet but did Stella ever have diarrhea issues? Just trying to relate to someone with all of this going on... ha. I’m currently working with my vet now to try to figure everything out but yeah, he’s definitely had his fair share of puppy issues so far. He’s doing good, though. He’s a super happy, healthy, funny, red long haired-mini dachshund named Murphy. :)
Hey Lou, how old was your pup when you got him? We have quite a few dachshunds so hopefully I can help you.
As with the diarrhoea. He could have an intolerance to the kibble your giving him. Also make sure not to feed him any human food at all I know it’s dog owner 101 stuff but a lot of people tend to give cute dogs there food.
Because they’re so small it’s really hard for them to processes our food some Unseasoned chicken it’s all you should really be giving him unless he’s on a raw food diet.
