Don Bluth once said that he believed children were made of sterner stuff than most adults gave them credit for and that as long as they got a good ending, they could probably deal with the darker things as well. I recently showed my seven year old niece and nephew the first Land Before Time and they enjoyed it. Although they did ask why the T-Rex was hurting other dinosaurs. We explained they were a carnivore, which meant they only ate meat. They seemed to accept this fairly well.
I love that Peter sliming Slimer sequence, and how Welker delivers the line "Ugh. I have been, like, slimed.". It cracks me up.
It’s weird that even when it’s being drugged down, real Ghostbusters can do a better response to critics than Teen Titans Go

That's coming from the same ABC that said to Straczynski, when he wrote "Russian About", "You cannot reference The Necronomicon because it is a real occult book." Even after Straczynski proved to ABC multiple times that it wasn't a real book, ABC still said "No" to referencing it. Even though they were perfectly fine with referencing H.P. Lovecraft.

I really love it when you talk about 'The Real Ghostbusters' cartoon. I remember catching a few episodes when I was little, and even though they scared me a little sometimes, I still loved them! It just makes me mad the network actually thought to "dumb down" the cartoon for kids. We liked the show for being EDGY!

I binged the pre Q5 episodes recently, and as great as those are there are way more than 20 dumb moments so you could easily fill that list up
I really loved this episode. I was bopping to the music number the Ghostbusters put on.
My all time favorite RGB episode. This episode alone was why I was so defensive of Dave Coulier's Peter before re-watching your review of the bad episodes.

Well, I was blinded by nostalgia. I will still say this was his best performance in the series, though.
+ilikethecokev2 Ok I'll admit to being harsh, so I'll say this about Dave's version. He was just doing his job, he was asked to do his Murray impression and he did it (even if I think it sucks); that and a lot of the problems came from the Q5 morons changes.
I still don't like Dave's take on the character, but he was somewhere between uh and meh for me.
I felt Dave Coulier did well in "The Grundel". Especially when he gave that speech to the victim, just as he was about to fully turn into one.
I agree, The Grundel is one of my favorite Real Ghostbusters for that reason.
The Halloween door haves to be one of my most favorite episodes I'm sorry but I actually really love it because it's enjoyable, the songs are good, and the characters actually act the way they supposed to be and the ghosts and monsters are awesome.

Better ending would have been letting Samhein out of containment to 'deal' with the problem. After all, they did it with Stay-Puft on a few occasions, somehow, as he wasn't even IN the unit. He ended up splattered all over NYC streets. No capture.

Pretty sure the entire Q5 were a fraud, especially since they didn't actually consult any children. So no, I doubt they cared then and I doubt they care now.

Just think, there must be a parallel universe in which the cable of the elevator carrying the Q5 people up to that Ghostbusters meeting snapped and they died horribly, but not before experiencing a few seconds of horror as the elevator screeched down the shaft gaining ever more speed. Why couldn't we have lived in that wonderful universe?
Seriously, why did no one give Culier some proper direction? I mean, he was never gonna replace Lorenzo Music, but I have to think that someone could have gotten a better vocal performance from the guy!

Futurama has ruined me because I'm so familiar with Kath Soucie's voice I can't get around the fact that it's her and not some little kid talking.
And like I said before that voice she used for the little kid is the same she would use for Lil on "Rugrats", which premiered two years later after this episode.

Being that Hallowween is my all time favorite holiday, it saddens me to hear that te school I work for is one of those schools thatdon't allow students to dress up during that day. I use to dress up for Halloween on school days. My siblings and I, along with our cousins, would dress up, go to school and then after school our moms would pick us up to go trick or treating. Those were such great memories. Too bad kids today don't do these things any more, because Jehovah Witnesses took over. Jehovah Witnesses suck. Even Muslims let their kids dress up and go trick or treating. For them it is just something kids do in the US once a year. It is something fun. Nothing to do with devil worship or anything evil. Just fun times for everyone. Unfortunately, there is always one idiot out to ruin everything for everyone else. It's like fart jokes. They're funny, but there is always that one person who always offended of everything and needs to ruin the fun of farts. >_>

Hmm 🤔, I can’t be the only one that didn’t mind the voice changes when I was a kid. I was just happy to be watching Ghostbusters. Hell, I didn’t even notice until reviews on CZcams like this one. Now that I see that they redubbed Peter’s and Janine’s voices, something I didn’t notice as a kid, I prefer the old voices to the new voices especially in the older episodes before they were redubbed. But I still don’t mind them. I didn’t even realize that Slimer was being used more in the later seasons. Again, I didn’t notice until reviews on CZcams. I just thought they wanted to change the opening sequence. I did find it annoying that after the song ended in the opening sequence, Slimer came back into frame and said “and me and me”. I rolled my eyes at that every time. I did find The Slimer Show a little annoying. I couldn’t wait til it ended so I could watch more of The Real Ghostbusters since they ran back to back. I watched The Slimer Show but I never liked the character models in The Slimer Show, especially of the four Ghostbusters. What was up with their pretty boy looks and the no ghost logo on their arm...uhm, arms. That annoyed me to no end. I tried watching The Slimer Show recently and I couldn’t do it, it was like torcher. I like how I never noticed the changes apart from the new opening sequence. Since I didn’t notice, it didn’t ruin it for me. Now a days, I notice every little change a show or video game makes and I usually find it annoying.

Ehh, it depends. We sort of did in NJ, it was a bit harder not to be aware of him due to his casino in Atlantic City. I had a friend at the time who admired him simply on the basis he was rich. DT struck me as shady since that was around the time he was constantly in the news due to his scandal with Ivana and Marla. Mind you, we were like 9-10 yrs old. I think GB is set in NY, so I can kinda see the reference at least working for adults, kinda like how old Warner Bros cartoons would make jokes that went over children's heads.

And I hate to say this, but even if ABC didn't hire Q5, some of the changes would have still happened (Slimer getting more screentime and Dave Coulier for Lorenzo Music in particular).
I like this episode. And buster jones also voiced blaster from transformers so doesn't surprise me on the solos he did

''Halloween Door'' Because boogolo , and the episode is wayyy more graphic than almost any other episode.
I forgot which the episode is called, but its where they go into space, and some huge green monster is eating everyones soul, I remember it was also very scary for me when i was young bc ppl actually got killed(no spoilers).

Still a nice episode. Though I think they ruined Bugaloo a bit by making him "funny". He actually looks legitimately terryfying.
At the time, there was a lot of overlap. During the late 80s and early 90s, there was a big Satanism scare that led to lots of parents groups (many of which were specifically religious, but there were some less religious/secular ones too) opposing things like Halloween, Dungeons and Dragons, and anything that could be remotely interpreted as Satanist or Pagan. With non-religious groups, the concern was that these things would influence kids to do dangerous things, or cause them to be unable to tell fantasy from reality and going nuts. (like in Mazes and Monsters)
This was of course before people realized that it was the religious fundies who couldn't tell fantasy from reality.
You know, the kinda guys who make conspiracy theory videos about how they can't even look at a movie poster without seeing secret satanic symbolism heralding the end times or something.

I'd love to see that episode reviewed since it's actually proof that the "Good episodes" had some shit in them just as well. And my favorite is Standing Room Only which doesn't put too much focus on Slimer and Venkman is more the money-grrubing lazy ass he was in the movie.

I never really thought of giving any of the ghostbusters cartoons a try, but enough Phelous reviews has convinced me. Also, tho Lorenzo Music's voice is almost too silly to play a human (esp one played by Bill Murray), he was a demigod of intonation which is more important to me.
