She knows she can't be in the room with them while they are out. After letting her in, she started heading towards the kitchen, but that room is connected to the room where my birds were out. So I firmly said, "Priscilla, go to the bathroom." She immediately turned back and went into the bathroom, which is in a different area of our apartment. I was floored because I'd never trained her to do that. I'd been distracted when I'd mistakingly let her in before securing the birds. I usually make her stay outside while they're out, which she's used to. So her following that instruction, was evidence to me that she understood the things I told her.

Obviously an adult should be capable of getting themselves out of a burning building and can figure out they need to stick around close enough to find any other family members and regroup. A pet could get themselves out possibly if all fors or windows were open since they can't usually unlock and open all doors but would panic and leave making it difficult to find them after the fact and could lead to much worse injuries or death even after they left. So you leave selfish girlfriends who want to ask you such questions or significant others to fend for themselves and rescue the pets and small children who actually may need help

I've always had German Shepherd's. A month ago someone dumped a tiny kitten at my barn. I kept him long enough to find him a good home. Didn't keep because I'm just retired and will be traveling soon. This cat was so cool and a complete joy. When I get back a German Shepherd puppy and a kitten will be the 1st thing I do .
