It's sad how the "Don't ask me. I'm just a girl" line fits for Q5 Jeanine. As for the Junior Ghostbusters, I am shocked that they didn't take off. They were such fun and interesting characters and 1 of the many ideas thatQ5 had for fixing the show. . .from being good.

Fun fact: one of the writers mentions that q5 had ties to the RAND corporation, which developed the theory of mutual destruction and other nuclear war related studies. So in a way, q5 really was the end of the world

Yeah, I've never understood why shows decided to add kids. NOBODY wanted that, I wanted to be Egon! I had friends who wanted to be Peter, Ray and Winston!

I felt the Jr. Ghostbusters were used properly in The Bogeyman Is Back episode since it was really an episode about Egon's fears and how he progressed from fright to fight.

Ugh! Their utter failure to actually say that IN UNISON makes it even more painful to listen to.
There were things they could have done to fix it like cut the lines down so they'd sync better or even better, re-record their lines! I don't care if it would hurt the kid's feelings, this is voice acting. Sometimes retakes are required. But this was when they were clearly out of shits to give and the end result is an embarrassment for everyone involved.
Okay I had to pause it 3 minutes to talk about how much I laughed at that last Winston joke, that was a gem of a joke, man it sucks they ruined Winston, he has some amazing lines.

This is a stupid theory, what if the Junior Ghostbusters ended up being the team for Ghostbusters Xtreme. Either way, good that the Junior Ghostsbusters were never overused, especially compared to Slimer.

With all the changes made to Janine, it would have been better if the creators simply wrote her out of the show and replaced her with a different girl. She sounds and acts a lot younger than the original Janine, so she might as well be an 18 year old Ghostbuster trainee.

And I never really watched this show much as a kid but MY GOD the things you've shown me - Janine's transformation especially - so sad. Her character wasn't perfect, but she had actual personality in the original series. And Lorenzo Music is the narrator of the heart of my childhood. Enough said.

I can’t help but feel bad for Coulier with how often Phelous makes fun of the guy’s portrayal of Venkman. I get where he’s coming from, but I’m also not all that familiar with Coulier, so I don’t know if he deserves it or not.

They had to drop the barrier to bring the Junior Ghostbusters inside. If they hadn't gotten captured, the Real Ghostbusters wouldn't have been able to do... whatever it was they did.

This episode is... really painful. But like.. it has some really really nice animation and drawings in it too?? like 13:25 and 16:00. Those look REALLY nice! And that kinda upsets me that the content of the episode isn't better.
Also I'm pretty sure the inclusion of child characters and how girls were handled in shows like these is why I, a girl, grew up to dislike female characters in cartoons pretty intensely. Thanks to characters like Webby, that brat in Tale Spin, and basically ALL of this. THANKS Q5!!! YOU MADE ME DISLIKE MY OWN GENDER'S REPRESENTATION!!

What I find the most hilarious about this, is how exactly your comments in the first few minutes precisely match my own thoughts upon re-watching this episode yesterday for the first time in almost 30 years.
I had always remembered this as one of my favorite episodes, or at least one of the more memorable ones from what I considered the second half of the series. However, I could never remember how “sam hain” got out of the containment unit within the first few minutes of the show. Now I see why. I must have immediately completely mentally edited out the junior Ghostbusters and Slimer from this episode. I had no memory of them being in it at all, which basically eliminates the whole first 10 minutes. So in my mind, it jumped right to him getting out of the containment unit. LOL
Upon re-watching, this went from one of the episodes I thought that I remembered liking the most, to one I wish I had never seen ever.
Another major inconsistency-as if consistency mattered by this point-didn’t we learn in Mrs. Rogers’ Neighborhood, that the containment unit required the voice print of one of the main four guys in order to access the controls? I know they violated this numerous times throughout the series, but in an episode like this, it is even more glaringly a problem than usual. Plus I grew up loving containment unit episodes, as I watched the show initially and primarily because of the pseudoscience and was a huge Egon fan, so this one was particularly painful.
And yet, despite its flaws, it's still better than Rob Zombie's Halloween II.

to be fair 4Kids didn't really want to dub One Piece, Toei pretty much forced them into it as they wouldn't let them dub Ultimate Muscle and Magical DoReMei unless they also agreed to do One Piece.
The only episodes I remember are the Cthulhu one and the one where Slimer is lost in the Containment Unit.

20:18 Presumably with all the ghosts heading towards the Ghostbusters, Samhain's powers weakened enough for him to drop the shield. This is why he was sucked back into the containment unit so easily. He's pretty powerful on his own, bu having all those ghosts at his disposal makes him that much stronger.

It was sure nice to see the goblins finally get blasted after getting away clean in the first episode.

The cocaine part sounds exaggerated but I’ve heard Ramis and Ackroyd make mention of Slimer being somewhat based on Belushi

Certainly better than destroying The Real Ghostbusters and making that separate Slimer show, and it would mean having the Junior Ghostbusters as lead characters in their own right rather than aggressively intruding on the show that is supposed to be about the Ghostbusters.
It's kinda weird they _had_ to make the car body PVC piping. It's probably a better way to make it than with wooden boards (as long as the pipes are fastened properly and not just plugged together), and it looks better, too.
I Google Translated some of the Japanese on Egon's diagram of the tower, and it appears there's things like "I have a ghost" (I think labeling the entrance) and "It's good for pumpkin" (labeling the top, maybe where Sam Hain likes to be?) on the first set of labels, some things about colours in the second set of labels, including light blue, blue, dark brown, and red, and the last set of labels has the exclamations "Crazy...!", "YA AHH STOP", "Please!", and "A... I-- feel good!". The labels on the firehouse diagram just after the tower seems to have "I'm glad I'm wrinkled" (I'm guessing one of the words was perhaps spaced incorrectly or had phonetically-written English, because that can't be right, can it?), just "YAAHOOO !!", and "that's it" (queue crumpling paper?). These whimsical margin doodles don't seem like the kind of thing Egon would have written; maybe Ray drew the graphic for him.

Q5 were also the people behind "All-New Pound Puppies", the second season of the Pound Puppies that had various strange-ass changes. I remember them popping up on Boomerang mixed with the season 1 episodes and being confused as hell. I loved the show for some strange reason when I was little and even then I knew that the "All-New" episodes were quite inferior.

It seems the consultants the executives hired to "improve" just pulled their ideas out of their asses, with little or no supporting evidence. But of course the executives believed them, because these consultants had degrees in something, or maybe because they charged a lot of money so they must be good. Dumb.

Not sure if the writer's wrote the kids absolutely terrible on purpose since they were forced in (probably, but assuming not here), but why do the kids want to go out on adventures and catch ghosts with the Ghostbusters if at least one of them apparently hates doing it? And also doesn't believe that other supernatural things could exist?
Are you kidding? This episode had some fantastic ideas in it! Samhain's restructured firehouse fortress gained its power from the mystical configuration of its shape, people coating themselves with ectoplasm to temporarily allow themselves to ethereally travel through matter. I was 12 when this episode first aired and I loved it, and I still do. The Junior Ghostbusters never bothered me at all, because OF COURSE the Ghostbusters would have fanclubs of nerdy kids all over the place wanting to emulate them. That was true in real life! It wasn't like the Ghostbusters took them out on jobs with them, they were just a fanclub that was lucky enough to be local so the guys kind of adopted them as mascots.
But children wanted to like grow up to be Peter, Winston, Egon or Ray. Not a fan club of cartoon children. You’re probably in the minority with this take, mate
