    Damn, i must say that i'm genuinely impressed by this video. Now, about 90% of videos on YT about guns are all over the place with bad video and audio quality; but this video is engaging, the placement and angle of shooters AND placed revolvers are on point, the text is short and to the point but still relevant, and the choice of music is fitting without being "too much". GREAT work on this!

      Hello and WOW!, what a great compliment! Thank you so much! I’ve never claimed to be a gun expert or even a gun reviewer. My start-up intent was just to offer some various views and looks of guns I enjoy owning and shooting. Sometimes when I’m considering a new gun, after all the “research”, I like to just look at different images to try and get the overall “vibe” of it. Plenty of experts and reviewers here on CZcams. Hopefully people can get some entertainment and maybe a little info from my versions. Thanks again!

    I always had a couple of thoughts on the spur, but admit to not researching, yet. One, that it helped for carriers when they used winter gloves. Two, when intended for mounted personnel, this would be a stronger control grip on the piece while moving and loading.

    Wow!!! Beautifully filmic as always! And, Brilliant re the idea of the spur as sash holder accessory!! I've never heard this theory before, but looks like it works well for this and makes sense. Does it sit steady in the sash as you walk around etc? This could be a major new insight!
    Also, great choice of music, as always... part of making you one of the top channels on youtube for this genre.
    Your two handed grip using the spur looked very comfortable and accurate. Do you prefer this over two-handing without the spur? Again, I have never heard this discussed before, so another amazing insight potentially. I've never been attracted to the Russian model because of the spur. It just looked like it would get in the way. Now I'm thinking of getting one. I have one of the S&W made Schofields made around 2000 ish. I share your thinking that the model 3 may be my favourite western '6 gun', especially for the quick unload/reload. Used by many famous gunslingers, likely for this reason. I guess it was not as popular as the Colt SAA as more expensive and more difficult to maintain, and keep running in the rugged rough and tumble life of a cowboy on the range.
    God's Love, Western Wilderness!

    • @gunsmackamigos1159
      @gunsmackamigos1159  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello. I’ve never found out the true reason for the spur. Just guesses, such as the sash or extra finger rest. Could it be a weapon/shield against sabers? I find it very elegant and intriguing looking and have even held it one handed with my middle finger on the spur, just for a different feel. Two handed tho, your off hand fingers do want to naturally fall across it. The only downside to it I could imagine is maybe being an obstacle during a “panic draw”. Thank you for your nice compliments!

      @Ken Kaneki Hello. I cannot answer that for you. I’d ask Uberti. I shoot HSM Cowboy Action loads of 200 gr 44 Russian and 240 gr 44 Special in mine. I’d think these pistols can handle any standard factory load just fine or they’d probably include a warning. Thanks.

    Man...you've got great taste in firearms. I'm pretty sure I've already told you that. That Russian is sweet. Bonus points for it being in .44 Russian, too.
    I've been thinking a little on a 5" No.3 New model American when Cimarron finally starts shipping them. I think that 5" would make a nice crossdraw companion to the Schofield. BUT...you've got me thinking Russian, now.
    I just A-L-M-O-S-T came home with a new Spencer carbine in .45 Colt the other day. My local dealer has one on the wall that's calling my name, but $1999+ is hard to swallow, right now. I brought home a new case hardened(color)/blued Cimarron (Pietta) 4-3/4" SAA clone in .45 Colt, instead.
    I sold my old Cherokee after just one day on Craigslist, but we've also bought a (relatively) low mile F250 Super Duty 4x4 7.3 Powerstroke yesterday. I broke down and ordered some hp and torque goodies for it today instead of buying a $2000 rifle.

    Question. For someone who prefers modern grips (S&W TRR8) on revolvers as opposed to "cowboy" style grips (58 Remington and such), would you recommend the Russian style grip or the more American style when it comes to the Model 3 reproduction?

    • @gunsmackamigos1159
      @gunsmackamigos1159  Před 3 lety +2

      Hello! Here’s my longwinded, over-analytical response: The Grip profile is very similar on both, but the Russian is a bit longer. My pinkie finger rests on the edge of the American, but has room to spare on the Russian. The backstrap “hump” at the top has the same feel for each, altho the Russian’s is more pronounced. The American is a little wider in the middle of the palm, and it’s rear profile is VERY slightly more rounded. I prefer the (here we go again) slightly more thicker profile of the American for my tastes. But without having a thin Hogue finger grip to compare to, I’d think the Russian would be closer to that general feel. Thanks!
