    Definitely near the end of a sour patch. You can even hear it in the commentary: they thought Nadal's days were numbered. Still, Rafa had opportunities. Just lacked the belief. Thankfully some needed tweaks were around the corner to help him back to the top. Good match either way. Pouille played well. Honestly thought he'd become more of a force in tennis going forward but seems to have flammed out somewhat.

    Rafael's forehand error at 6-6 5th set tiebreak in this match is akin to Lucas Pouille's forehand error at match point in 2nd set tie break at Beijing 2017 against Rafael. Only difference is their left and right hand respectively.

    Make no mistake as sensational as this match was, this was one of the biggest chokes in Rafa's career. He simply HAD to win that 5th set. He was the better player, he created more chances, he was in control, but that day luck just wasn't at his side in the 5th set.

    In a reference to Nadal's service (from the Stadium Reviews) 'A foot fault in tennis happen when the player’s serving is positioned incorrectly for the serve.

    In a example, when a player prepare to serve, the front foot can only touch the ground behind the baseline, between the extension of the center line and the sideline. Also, per ATP rules, players must remain in the same position when serving; they can not build momentum through the feet before serving.'

    I would not call this a massive shock Nadal had not won a slam in two years and not gone beyond the QF was a bad patch for him Wimbledon 2012 Rosol will always be the biggest shock in tennis coming into that match Nadal had reached the last five slam finals and just won the French had reach 5 wimbledon finals in a row that he played.
