This is why the year 2017 meant so much to him. 3 GS finals and 2 slams. You would have never guessed it from watching him in 2016
Because Djokovic wasn't going well in 2017
@@NaveenSinghcricketerbraindead comment
@@NaveenSinghcricketer I dont think Djokovic will do well even if he played in 2017.
that's the same time Novak's elbow started to bother him, missed a year and a half eventually undergoing surgery on his elbow during that time, funny you don't mention that....
When it was 6 all I just knew Nadal had it. Wow Pouille shocked everyone.
it was 6 what? your sentence doesn't make sense!
@@airkuna 6-6 in the tie-break
He dumped that forehand into the net and never recovered.
2015-2016, the darkest times for us Nadal fans...
irwin yeong bashed everyone by fucking unlimited times to be the best tennis player in the world by fucking unlimited times
red lining fognini is so pure it is ridiculous. i can't match him on fucking xbox
@@Tesla_Death_Ray Red Lining Fognini is only seen once every 5 years. Similar to god-mode Nalbandian from Madrid/Paris 2007. LOL
@@jollyjames30Same with Dustin and Verdasco lmao
2013 & 2016, the darkest times for us Fed fans. 2017, the darkest times for Nole fans. Even the greatest players ever have dark times
That was a difficult time for Rafa but he still fought like the warrior he is.
.
Greatest fighter in all of tennis
Definitely near the end of a sour patch. You can even hear it in the commentary: they thought Nadal's days were numbered. Still, Rafa had opportunities. Just lacked the belief. Thankfully some needed tweaks were around the corner to help him back to the top. Good match either way. Pouille played well. Honestly thought he'd become more of a force in tennis going forward but seems to have flammed out somewhat.
He never lacks belief.
What's up with this "full match" missing the end of the 4th set, from 4 (Rafa) - 3 (Pouille)?
When that commentator says ‘oh i think he is done playing for fans here bla bla’ so confidently - dude if i were you i would not talk about tennis again go talk about baseball 😂😂😂
Even In one of his worst years, he still had the goat smash
Amazing match. I watched every point, riveted.
I know it was killer wasn't it.....very enjoyable.
This is my sanity during Covid ....Thank you for these matches! This is one of the best I have seen....and I was rooting for Pouille the underdog so it was even sweeter.
I could not agree with you more.
3:11:32 Like couple weeks before against del potro olympia 2016 by the match point. The same easy forehand mistake
Amazing scenes, how did he miss that..
@@Rumblingbelly Because he got tight- he did a Fed choke, it happens!
Novak will do an overhead smash better than him.
Amazing game by Lucas 👏❤️
It was 4-3 in the 4th set next I'm watching the 5th set. I want to see every point . This was the best match of the week so far.>>>>>
I thought Pouille was going to go somewhere. He showed a lot of promise initially but it was not to be
They both fought like warrior !!!!
THIS WAS A GOOD MATCH
AME ESTE PARTIDO. VAMOSS RAFA. BIEN POR TI LUCAS.
2017 4 round del potro v thiem
2008 SF nadal v murray please
Delpo Thiem will be posted soon
@@victorlupas4875 are you sure?
On parle beaucoup de nadal mais lucas pouille a fait ce que peu de gens in reussit en grand chelem.
Rafael's forehand error at 6-6 5th set tiebreak in this match is akin to Lucas Pouille's forehand error at match point in 2nd set tie break at Beijing 2017 against Rafael. Only difference is their left and right hand respectively.
3:11:15
2017 Del Potro vs thiem please
please, pretty please Karolina Pliskova vs. Venus Williams US open 2016. That was a perfect battle.
Apart from the fact it was women
@Dandy Lengyel That match was so good, even better than the one between Serena and Karolina in semi finals that year. She became only the 8th or 9th player to beat both Williams sisters in the same tournament in past 22 years
Hope Pliskova won that because i don't see the point otherwise
Nadal vs del potro 2017 please

41:45 great S/V action from Nadal, over the years he was attacking the net behind the serve just on ad-court out-wide (like in this case), but in the past few years he's been doing that in different directions
i thought after this match surely Nadal would really only be a threat at the French ever again. hard to believe he's won this 2 of the past 3 years.
He improved his serve so much since then, and other aspects as well
His run in 2019 was truly heroic, would have liked to see medvedev win tho
He somehow had one of the easiest draw ever in a Grandslam , never in GS history had a player won a major without facing a top 20 player , he played ok but any big 4 would won too if they had that draw
Cakewalk draws at the US open
Farhat K both 2017 and 2019, two pathetic draws
So many takeaways from this match for the weekend player.
1992 Edberg vs Chang please
Make no mistake as sensational as this match was, this was one of the biggest chokes in Rafa's career. He simply HAD to win that 5th set. He was the better player, he created more chances, he was in control, but that day luck just wasn't at his side in the 5th set.
Nadals game overall feels subpar from 2017-2019 seasons. Its astonishing that at his age he can still improve aspects of his game
what? His game 2017-2019 has been extremely complete and ideal.
What I mean was, his performance in this video is way below the level compared to succeeding years after. Hence I pointed the improvement he had achieved after the loss.
@@djblackwing737 What you said is, Nadal's game from 2017-2019 is subpar. Do you not see that?
@@TheRafaelBond :D
I mean subpar doesn't get you 6 more slams and however many masters
DelPo vs thiem 2017
Pouille couldn't buy a first serve but he held his nerve every 2nd serve in crucial moments.
Purée c'est ça qu'on veut voir bordelo!
1:42:07 OH MY GOD THAT IS SOOO GOOD
Feel sad for Rafa. Whole family was watching, he must be disappointed to lose this match
Pouille trainings with Federer where productive.
lucas got that scarecrow look going on.
In a reference to Nadal's service (from the Stadium Reviews) 'A foot fault in tennis happen when the player’s serving is positioned incorrectly for the serve.
In a example, when a player prepare to serve, the front foot can only touch the ground behind the baseline, between the extension of the center line and the sideline. Also, per ATP rules, players must remain in the same position when serving; they can not build momentum through the feet before serving.'
Venus vs Hingis 2000 SF, Venus vs Mauresmo 2002 SF, Davenport vs Clijsters 2003 SF or the semis from 2004 with Capriati and the russians would be awesome! :)
Lucas Pouille at his prime level.
Wow
41:46 WOOOOOW
3:11:31
Amazing scenes, how did he miss that..
@@Rumblingbelly i think he is really confident but sometimes a bit clumsy when he hit an easy shot during crucial pts.
Why is the ball sound so low and the commentating so damn high??????? Had to turn it off!
Only match I’ve seen Nadal live
Nadal has put on some muscle since 2016.
Del Potro vs Federer 2017 QF and Williams vs Vinci 2015 SF please!!!
the thumbnail reveals it bruh-
This is during Nadal slump with lower back injury, slamless period between 2014 and 2017 French Open.
@Don't Give up slamless ~3 years between 2014 french open to 2017 french open.
Pouille had a lot of trouble controlling his service toss.
Why are the commentators so loud!!
DESTROYED THE FAMILY REUNION
Nadal has made a point of never to lose to any french player... They simply can't against him.
just saw the thumb, and rafa not buff/skinny at a time?? really?
37:42 WHAT DA HECK
First time I see weak Rafa's mental. Weird feeling. Love him no matter what. Vamos
the battle of the big butts
Too many commercial my god

Is there a 3 hour, 16 minute, 4 second time limit for US Open uploads or what? There was two games left in that 4th set and the official channel for US Open tennis just skips past them. Kind of a shitty thing to do, guys.
why does rafa have to be so good
3:12:59
da fuq?
Every dog has their day that one day
En el minuto 33:43 Rafael Nadal dise "puta madre" del enojo buen partido primera vez que le veo tan enojado
😊👏👏👏👏
nadal loose against pouille= Djokovic destroy pouille by the australian open 2019...
Djokovic loose against chung by the AO2018 = Nadal destroy chung by the US OPEN 2019...
;)
Any other Nadal besides 2015-16 would've won this in maximum four setter. With all due respect to Poullie who on a good day is solid, but Nadal was so bad during that time.
I think this match destroyed Pouille's career definitely. He has never been the same afterwards.
Chill out
Tbh pouille is semi finalist in AO 2019 and lost to djokovic the eventual champion.
Gg
Nadal was not in his best form
Andyurielakepech
Both choked- but Nadole choked harder- only difference! Still, much better than what Medvedev did last year, after 5 sets, choked so badly, Nadal didn't even get a chance, to choke!
@DS Medvedev should have won in straight sets! Medvedev choked badly, even when he could have won, in 5!
@@pauljohnson6019 it's amazing how intelligent people like you can use the word choke as per your will . Nadal destroyed Medvedev at Rogers Cup . And as per your wisdom he should have won it in straight sets , amazing man just amazing
@@pauljohnson6019 Get a life!
Qué mal jugaron... Lo peor fue el saque de Nadal.
First time a french man resist to the pressure.
I would not call this a massive shock Nadal had not won a slam in two years and not gone beyond the QF was a bad patch for him Wimbledon 2012 Rosol will always be the biggest shock in tennis coming into that match Nadal had reached the last five slam finals and just won the French had reach 5 wimbledon finals in a row that he played.

Claydal...😂😂😂
Nadal professional version of a pusher.
A pusher can't win 19 GS 🤔
More like counter puncher or aggressive baseliner
A pusher with 22 slams?Get a life, Robert Hurley
Rafael and Jokeabitch have been around too long...boring to watch...i like the womens matches especially Osaka
ok

Omg this commentator, I just can’t listen to him, he’s always so bad and annoying, man, you have one job.
