I had my lower control arms replaced. Ever since , the steering is stiff. I did this described in the video. It helps a lot like your car. Later, I'll do it again to have more new power steering fluid than old fluid.
Thank you so much, steering was really difficult for sometime on my truck, Iâve watched your video and did exactly what you did and boom good as new. Thanks again!!
Really glad that this vid helped you out and that you were able to restore your steering back to new !
I canât find the Conditioner
Advanced auto should carry it

Thanks for the tip!! I will go to Wal-Mart tomorrow & pick up those tool cus I'm not trying to take it into the shop,.. especially if I can fix it my self! đ lol thanks!!
No problem, glad I could help you out, good luck !
Great video ! Very informative and well explained! Gonna do this one on my g soon and get fresh fluid in her ! Why didnât u use oem fluid?
Wanted to make a universal video that all people can try on any car. After I made video, I switched to oem fluid. Same feeling as what I demonstrated with in the video.
I got a question. So today I was turning and out of the nowhere the steering got so stiff to the point where I could turn back without a lot of force. Any idea what it could be. Power steer fluid is normal.
Thanks for the video boss hopefully thisâll clear things up for me Iâm in an Infiniti i35 04
Says for 03-04 I35 that it uses atf. You should pick up some dexron III and follow the steps in this video. Hope this helps !
It worked a treat. Cheers đ»
Glad you found my video helpful ! đ€
It could be power steering pump and or a stiff u joint that needs to be replaced
It will be very helpful , u please leave the links to the products used in the video!!!
Worked like a charm. Thank you! I only hope changing the suspension rods on my washing machine goes as smoothly . . . but I doubt it.
Really glad I could help you out, now go tackle that washing machine haha.
Im driving Mazda primacy it sure steering light cat the power off.. when turning light or overtaking plz help
Nice however you have to be careful about what you are putting in your specific car and u still need to check out the pressure switch đđâđ
Ive noticed how heavy mine is on my old 35 year old Mazda, compared to my civic, its bad, like you said, its like having no power steering. I doubt that its ever been changed in its life. I was going to crack the pipes off of the steering rack and drain it that way, will probably get most of it out the system, all that will be left is whats in the rack. Either way, its gonna be getting changed.
thanks in advance.
Thanks dude!
Glad I could help you out ! đ€
@@LuminaryCo really you did so , saving time and money đ
I have a trouble of my steering wheel is stiff while I'm driving and turning on the road. I got in to a parking lot and the steering wheel is not turning at all. It's not lock but it's stiff. I don't know what to do but I would like to try this...
Had the same problem with mine, and did this, then drove around and let the fluid mix in the power steering system for a few days and it went back to normal. If this doesnât solve, check for kinked power steering lines, suspension components, or power steering pump.
@@LuminaryCo I'll try. Thanks!
Try using wd 40 on the steering u joint, the grease drys out and gets hard on older cars and it makes the steering super stiff, some wd 40 on the joints or even taking them apart cleaning and re greasing them helps a ton
This is Not Russian cars
WD40 dries out. Use a lubricating spray likr crc 556
Can I use this product and process on my 2013 Subaru Outback?
Your 2013 outback has the preference of using ATF for there power steering system. So you can follow the instructions in this video using the preferred fluid for your vehicle.
i have a power steering flush video using a similar pump on our 2012 G37
I am pretty new to cars, but this seems pretty straight forward, except that 1/3rd of the fluid measurement. How did you measure 1/3rd fluid to be removed? and should I use the full new bottle - I mean is 1 full bottle = 1/3rd of the fluid removed? Does it work for Ford Explorer 2012 as well - my steering wheel feels really stiff.
What if you have an electric power steering my 2019 camry has a slight stiffness when turning
Steering system could be out of calibration. Should get it recalibrated and go from there.
Did you add the entire bottle of the Lucas stuff? Also what is one fluid? I have a crappy Hyundai lol
Yes entire bottle is fine to be added in increments. Just make sure you drive around and do necessary turning to mix the fluid throughout your power steering system. What model Hyundai haha ?
Help, I have a 06 Grand Prix gxp yesterday I heard a noise when I was driving put it in park noise went away then when I try to turn itâs hella hard so I check and i barely had any power steering fluid so I buy more then I added it and itâs still like that and when the car is in park I canât turn the steering wheel at all
I had the same problem.l did as was instructed and it worked wonderfully. I did not have any pump so I pull the cover off the reservoir and rev the engine, the oil came out, and then I throw new oil into the reservoir and cover it and it worked. Under the hood was messy though which I cleaned.
You forgot a bad power steering pump causes hard steering
even if you added fluid? and itâs still hard to turn
how do you purge any air after putting in fluid?
By leaving power steering fluid cap open and moving steering wheel from left to right.
So ii have a 96 infiniti i30... and what kind of power steering fluid shud ii use...
Becuz on the cap it just says fill to line and has Chinese words on it as well lol plz help me ....
Great looking car!

How is the steering now? Did you flush it again or replace any parts? I'm having the same issue
Steering feels great now after flushing this out one more time after the video. You have to let the fluid mix around for a few days of driving or so to feel the biggest difference.
@@LuminaryCo thanks manđ
Iâm
What about Acura tax electric steering?
Did you turn the steering back and fourth with the cap off the power steering?
đđŒđđŒ
Where you got the headlight from
Got the headlights off of redline360, theyâre the spec D headlights
Where I can get this pump how itâs called ?
Called a hand siphon pump. Got mine at Walmart for under the bucks probably.
I recommend after adding the new fluid turning the wheel back and forth with the wheel unlocked but the car OFF. If the pump was empty before you replaced fluid it can run dry for a moment which can damage it and also it will introduce tons of air bubbles into the steering system. I have more on this in my video:
czcams.com/video/IAPvrDRKfRw/video.htmlsi=v7T3F9RLHop7uRqE
Thank you for the additional advice!â€
I changed my steering box , but it is very stiff , is it normal?
Ayyyy, when I change my steering fluid, am I gonna get wet like this too?
Quick question bro does it also work for bmw?
Any car that has power steering. Google the type of fluid your car takes and then go from there and siphon and replace.
Would this work for a 2009 Hyundai Genesis?
As long as it doesnât have an electric power steering, method should work with vehicle designated P/S fluid.
One tip I will suggest to people is clean out around the wheels. DIrt and grime builds up and can actually slow your steering. Just get a power washer and give it a hose.
I notice when I drive in pool of water steering becomes very free. Could that be related?
What is the exact name for the thing you used to take out the fluid?
The fluid extractor I used is from Walmart. Itâs called âHyper Tough Multi-Use Siphon Pumpâ
Hope this helps !
Just to be clear, I leave the old fluid out and put the new fluid in at 1/3 of a time till full?
Yes sir, cuz thatâs all you can really take out at a time once the fluid mixes while you drive.
@@LuminaryCo you can do dynamic change but would need another person to help you with that
How many times did u do a flush and was this flush done all in one day
I did the flush a total of three times. Flush should be done once after every day or two of driving so that the new fluid added, has a chance to mix around. Do this up to three times so that the fluid can mix and disperse it self throughout the power steering system.
@@LuminaryCo okay will try this and see if it works.. I pray it does đđœ
Hope it works out !
For people who have electric rack you may have to change battery and make sure the battery is running good (check alternator too..)
WRONG!!!!
Alternator could function inefficiently due to old timing belt. Replace timing belt and see magic of steering.
you just saved me 90$ thanks! lol
Glad I could help ! đ€
Will this work for non power steering wheelđ
Do you mean electric steering ? Obviously not lol..
I need that stuff to remove the fluid
They sell fluid siphons at your local Walmart or auto store !
How many bottles did you use? 2?
I used 1 and then chased it with 2 regular p/s fluid after each flush I did.
@@LuminaryCo wym? Didnât see that in the video. Did u only show u adding conditioner ?
@@umana93 yes, I gave that a chance to mix around for a few days driving the car then siphoned out more and added p/s fluid for a total of 3 times.
Which ps fluid did u use bro ? It was the same routine just this time instead of Lucas you poured ps fluid ?
I did ATF along with the Lucas conditioner for the car in this video. Make a quick google search for your model and should tell you what PS fluid your car specifically needs if applicable.
I have a brand newwwww steering pump I gotta try this cuz I put cheap fluid lol
Definitely put the required fluid for your car. Quick Google search for your car model and make.
Works with Honda crv 2006?
Yess đđ»
thanks handsome
Wait, so after you take out 1/3 of the old powered steering fluid, do you just put the new power steering fluid that you put in, give the steering wheel a couple turns and that it and then never change it after a while!?
You will do the same procedure 3-4 times to get all of the old fluid out. It needs to mix in the system driving around and taking turns, then siphoned out again and replaced with new fluid.
It could be at least 6 other things that cause steering to be heavy mate
Well this is one common reason that a lot of people are able to diagnose there self.
does your have to be cold for this to work ?
Car can be cold or hot when extracting old fluid. To mix around, drive car for a few days then take out some more and replace with more new fluid and so on.
Bro this car doesnât use power steering fluid it uses ATF for the steering fluid đ
It says right on the resivoir cap
Anything along the line of PS fluid will work fine, I know that dexron III ATF is preferred. Made the video universal, for all car types. Dexron III was used for flush off camera.
@@LuminaryCo You should have stated that in the video.
Can u sell this g35?
nfs
I thought I heard a slight barking in the system. đź
Lol nahh my pumps out for sure. Your powered steering was fine the first time you rotated the wheelâ ïž
You fr talking like you were in the video feeling my steering đđđ.. Get that pump fixed tho lol.
@@LuminaryCo I mean as far as it being a heavier vehicle. Iâm staying in my car right now. Still working and what not. My pump never whined or anything just stopped working while I was driving lol. I didnât mean anything negative by my comments lol. I was laughing at myself honestly. Trying to justify maybe air in the lines or old fluid. But my stuffs practically locked up. I wish I could comment a video but itâs rough. You seriously cannot move the wheel with one hand on my Camry. But itâs a Camryâ ïžwhat more should I expect. Itâs like driving a super old truck with no powered steering. Sorry if I came off the wrong way. Much love đ thanks for the vid and response.
All good bro, my fault as well. Didnât know what way you were coming off. But mine was pretty bad as well before I did the steps in the video. It would take a lot of force to steer as if I had 10-20% power steering left lol. But geez, those Camrys last forever engine wise. Hit the yard, look for a pump and make more money with it đ€..
I can't believe I'm reading a friendly exchange in YT comments. Both of you are good people.
Dude itâs not the fluid, power steering pump motor bad
Can definitely be
This is confusing! You said take a 3rd out and then you said taking "everything out" 3:44
You have to mix the new fluid in with the old by driving and taking turns⊠then take out more to fully replace your whole systems fluid. Itâs really not that confusing.. canât take out all fluid in system at once. Have to keep mixing and taking fluid out until you feel thereâs more new fluid than old.
đ not always fluid . Could be air entering the system or bad pump
One thing to rule out ainât it ? đđ
Yours looks like it takes ATF . And you put regular PS fluid in it . Dude check what kind of fluid your car takes .
Video was made universal for most car makes and models .. ATF has been in the car since the making of this video. Thanks for your concern đ€Łđ..
even doh you change the fuel you will still have fuel in the power steering rack
don't be such a simpleton, take it to a shop, they know a guy lol
