    Yeah man. Awesome video. My brother is fixing this part as I write this on a 2007 Pontiac G5 steering wheel started getting stuck as I turned left and right. Making for fun highway driving. Thanks for the share.
    Update: Steering wheel is still hard to turn. I can feel like the gas pedal rattles a little bit when I press on it while driving. This past winter car slipped off icy rut on driveway and slammed onto icy driveway really hard. I suspect the rattling of the front center part of the car was due to this slam onto icy driveway.

    Thanks so much for this video! Saved me a bundle on my Silverado Hybrid - Thanks for saying the motors hardly ever go bad, I was so close to shelling out $600 for a new one! Cleaned and dielectric greased the connections and solved the problem!

    It was 10 degrees below zero tonight and my son calls to say steering on our 2012 Malibu was very hard to turn. I watched this video, grabbed both products, and went out into the ice cold to fix the car. When I arrived, all the codes read the same, and once I cleaned, and greased the connections, it worked immediately. Wild… Thanks for making this video. Hopefully this will get us by for a bit.

But i wanna buy the sensor off amazon but whats the exact thing is it the motor and sensor or is it just a sensor. Is the motor a part of the steering column or the sensor piece

    • @goldwolf0606
      @goldwolf0606 Před 3 lety +1

      The sensor is in between the motor and column. The part he showed in the video was the bottom of the column which holds the sensor. If you want to disassemble it, it’s going to be more work and maybe throws off the steering calibration. If you have the scan tool no problem. If you don’t, maybe it’s easier just to swap it out like he suggested. Good luck.

      My guy. I have an 09 Pontiac g6. Had it over 4 years. I’ve had sporadic traction control issues. The past year or so it’s said service ESC…about a week ago the power steering light will sporadically come on, only fix is to stop, turn car off, and restart. But it seems last couple days it’s getting worse. It’ll sometimes come right back on, other times it stays off quite a while. It reads power steering, and service ESC on my radio. My steering wheel does have a tiny shake. I also have noticed a slight pull to the left, and am not sure what’s going on with that. Also, my tire pressure light stays on, and always has. I’ve got brand new tires on my ride, nothing wrong with my pressure. Also, my temp gage sporadically will stop reading and my fan will run, but it will come back on like nothing was wrong. My check engine light does the same. It’ll come on and then I’ll notice it’s off again. Anyone got any ideas on what the hell is wrong here? I need some help.

      For certain VIN so they won’t fix it if you didn’t received the letter from the GM! You could check if the special coverage is still active. Special coverage coverage limited to certain models placed in 10 years of service or 150k miles.

    He forgets to say there's a recall on these vehicles any the manufacturer is obligated to fix it for free

      Not a Recall, an extended warranty for 10 years or 150,000 miles. most of these cars are out of that warranty.

      Not all cars within the recall period are covered. Depends on the part #. I just checked my Vin # on gm website and it's not covered

      No recall for certain VINs. There is a technical service bulletin, you can have it diagnose by Autozone/Oreilly’s then demand a Chevrolet dealer fix it. Otherwise, after a few attempts to demand a fix you can file a claim in small claims court to get them to fix it. Make sure to get proof(documents) that it is the issue listed on TSB(Technical Service Bulletin). The more people that file against them. They will have no choice but to fix these cars.

    I don't think putting dielectric grease on connections is a good idea. A lot of people seem to think dielectric grease conducts electricity. It doesn't, it does the opposite. It's an insulator. Your fix probably worked in spite of the grease getting in the way.

      addresses high resistance. There’s a service announcement for the 7th gen malibu involving adding di grease to the bcm connectors.

      @@1111comment can't tell you how many different brands have connector issues. Green pins on computer connections ruin alot of mechanics day.
