- Sup guys, heres a video of us fixing my friends malibu, has some play in the steering, turns out to be the steering shaft. Heres some tips on how to fix it. enjoy,

Did you take any precautions so that the steering wheel doesn't turn while you did this? I've always heard that if the wheel turns even just a bit you damage the clock spring and will need to disassembly the whole steering column to fix it at a hefty price.

Mine is popping when you turn the wheel left to right is this what causes it
Yeah I had the exact same issue. Everytime i turned it would clunk/pop. To double check, have someone turn the wheel while you look at the steering column, see if there is any play.

I can't tell I put my hand on steering rack right below and feel like it's the rack idk
….. or you can just buy new tie rod ends and install them easily and get an alignment that helps with the play too. I swear GM’s are the worst I’m already regretting taking my father-in-law‘s Malibu off his hands. Working on these is a headache and a half the only thing that is the easiest thing I’ve ever seen is changing the oil on these cars
