GRRM has written more than his fantasy epic, A Song of Ice and Fire adapted into Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon Contact ► whycreatevideos@gmail.com Twitter ► whycreator
I started reading the ASOIAF books 7 years ago when I thought the end was near... I even rushed them and finished them in about 6 months... and I´m still waiting for the Winds...
I did the same exact thing 😭😭 but I didn't read I got the books and audiobooks waited waited till after season 8. Listened slightly to audiobooks. Then properly in 2022 and now more recently and its still not out 😭😭
I thought the 2020 lockdowns would have been the perfect opportunity to finish the books because he literally had no choice but to stay home amd write books (2 of my favourite authors finished there books during this period) and yet not even that was enough so imo, the books will never release.
Preston Jacobs has an entire series talking about every non Ice and Fire book Martim ever wrote and how the themes carry over to the series. Very thoughtfully made
Fun Fact in regard to Dying of the Light is that its audiobook is narrated by Iain Glen, Jorah Mormont's actor from Game of Thrones. It's nice to know him and Viserys' actor Harry Lloyd have narrated books written by George R.R. Martin and these two had some scenes together. Oh, and if I don't mention it, someone will. Yes, the Pyromancer from Season 2 of Game of Thrones was played by the late Roy Dotrice who had narrated the first 5 books in A Song of Ice and Fire. EDIT: It recently came to my attention that Brienne's actress Gwendoline Christie also narrated audiobooks, one of which GRRM contributed to: Rogues by Neil Gaiman.
Please give Wild Cards a shot, those books are awesome in a very twisted way! GRRM has written some of the stories in there in fact and not just the prologue like you mentioned. There are so many great and unique characters in the series, it is incredible! You don't need to start from the very beginning either, I recommend starting with 'Inside Straight' (book 18) which can be considered a reboot after a longer break, it was what pulled me in instantly and it has a knight character written by GRRM himself. They are trying to get a show for Wild Cards based on 'Fort Freak' (book 21) but it has been shelved a few times already, even though it has great potential. Just keep in mind, that the early books haven't aged well at all, should you want to start there.
I love the ice dragon I loved that book when I read it as a kid... Hell I still remember getting the original Game of thrones novel when I was 16 and loved it. But I'm giving away my age at this point lol
I began reading ASOIAF right when season 6 of GOT had just ended and so got caught up to AFFC by season 7. During that time I also would take some breaks to read other books such as from Stephen King and the ATLA novels
Good thing I prepared enough space on my bookcase for George R.R. Martin's works other than A Song of Ice and Fire. I may have issues with Martin at times, but he's still one of my literary influences damn it. Still won't surpass the books I have by my other literary influence Tad Williams, which is currently 20 to Martin's 8. Tad Williams, by the way is the one whose fantasy trilogy Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, helped inspire Martin to write ASOIAF in the first place, so by all rights, Williams should be called the American Tolkien. Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn also inspired and influenced authors like Patrick Rothfuss, Christopher Paolini, and myself. Whycreate, please shed some light on Tad Williams, since you also shed some light on Frank Herbert and not just GRRM.
GRRM wrote more than just a prologue for Wild Cards. In the first book he also wrote the story "Shell Game" along with five Interludes, then 2 named chapters in the next book, the character Hiram Worchester in the third, another chapter in the fourth & fifth, one of the two characters in the seventh, two characters in the eleventh, a character in the fifteenth, and finally his last chapter was in the 18th published in 2008. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wild_Cards_books_and_short_stories
Im currently reading Seven Times Never Kill a Man and the bad guys wear chameleon clothing, which confirms to me that George has always liked transparent armor lmao
Some of his science fiction work are loosely apart of the same
"Thousand Worlds" universe. But looooosely.
Can you do branch houses in asociaf
Some of them are basically medieval worlds with weird seasons see check Bitterblooms

It wasn’t every non ice and fire book it was just the 27 stories from the thousand worlds universe

Roy is amazing in his narration. Like an old family member regaling us with tales of Westeros
