i just purchased the 56mm for my Z50... I am amazed at the quality of the build and the results... I work mostly with a model agency or portraits of women... I wanted something in a short tele that would match up to my Z50 APS-c format. I could not be happier with the results! Perfect for my needs and use!
Great to hear! Enjoy it. This reminds me, I have to go out and shoot more portraits of models . Missed doing that.
Many thanks for taking the time to make these videos Viltox has been successfully selling into the Fuji ecosystem for a while so it makes total sense for them to offer Z alternatives, the video form the 56mm looked wonderful I hope they bring out a wide prime sometime soon
You are very welcome tech. YES. A wide prime would be amazing, like a 14mm AF or a 16MM and maybe a 21MM. I love the 21MM focal length.
They have a 13mm f1.4 lens
I've been waiting on this review. Gotta say I'm impressed. Definitely buying the 56mm
Hi Darrin. glad to hear you enjoyed it. Glad it was some help for you. Rock n Roll!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Oh man, that video just made me go to the local shop and buy popcorn :D
Great video and (un)surprisingly good results for the mighty Z50 with Viltrox glass!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the positive comment. ViltROCKS🤘🏼🤘🏼 lenses are surprisingly great like you said and for the price, can not go wrong here. Prime AF lenses for Z50 and F fc all day with viltrox!
Great review. It is truly valuable to get thorough, unbiased product review information. The Viltrox lenses offer excellent value for the price. As hobbies go, photography with a system camera gets expensive in a hurry. When many people assess what a reasonably good set of zooms and fast primes cost (beyond what they have already invested in the body), they conclude it is too high a bar for their disposable income. Nikon’s own top quality 1.8 primes deliver a great value proposition for serious hobbyists and professionals. Viltrox makes it possible for less well-heeled enthusiasts to have a experience which approaches that OEM quality for hundreds (and ultimately thousands) less.
Thank you Greg. I always stay unbiased no matter what. If I see something I do not like I will point it out. No fake stuff here. In order to tell my viewers and stand beside a product. I have to be sure about it. Good point about the cost and how Viltrox gives users the ability to use and own at a fraction of cost.
Nice review of the Viltrox 33mm & 56mm f1.4 DX APS-C AF lens. I think the sharpness, bokeh and AF in the lens are very good for the price for the APS-C sensor camera. I also like that the lens have the ring for aperture and can be used manually. Great video Vahagn.
Thank you A L. Yes that aperture rings is great. When doing video the changes are smooth.
Amazing video, now i'm sold on the 56 mm,but i must say the 16-50 mm kit lens performance blew me away, almost sharper in some examples :)
V the viltrox lenses look good! I noticed they got their hands on some chips. I was impressed with the Z50 also. At that price I think they're going to be a viable option. Especially now with the current Financial climate. As always great job on the review!
Thank you Mike. Now with the Z50 and Z fc specially. people will really dig this 3rd party option. I really feel its a great option for many users. and the fact that there isn't any other AF lenses out there to compete with. thts a good thing for Viltrox.
I thought these lenses did a great job, you can't go wrong with them. I would get those for maybe travel or street photography when I don't want to carry my expensive lenses. Excellent review, thanks.. and love the soothing, smooth, background music.
Thank you Fel. and I agree. You get a fast DX option and a lens that has an aperture ring. and is 1.4. Prime lenses are no where to be seen for Nikon DX lineup.
@@Vahagraphy hopefully they will address this sooner than later.
I have a few question. Which produces a better image, viltrox 35mm 1.8 full frame or 33mm 1.4 apsc? I have nikon z50 and looking for an affordable prime lense. Is the 35mm full frame worth the extra $100 over the 33mm?
Great review! Just curious, all the reviews/samples I have seen of the Viltrox 33/56 I find them to have a slight yellow cast?
Thank you. Really. To be honest, I have to examine it a little closer. Thank you for pointing this out. This reminds me to use the viltrox lenses for street more often.
These lenses seems to be best budget friendly, so i will surely consider this and take a Viltrox 56mm fir my Nikon ZFC. Thanks for making it clear for me.
Where are you located. Im selling mine hehe
@@Vahagraphy I'm in India actually🥲
@@Vahagraphy Hey i wanna ask about its usage, some reviews are saying that the Camera gear doesen't recognize this lense and then they have to return it. So what about you, how well did it worl for you?
Just bought the 56 for my zfc. Excellent in all departments for the price
Great lens for the price like you said. I would re buy it again. Glad you enjoyed the review psysword.
The price is certainly right on these lenses! Plus the aperture ring is a nice option.
I agree. Good price. good results, smooth aperture ring. win win
I think for the price the performance is very good. I don't mind buying 3rd party lenses, especially if they address a specific dimension that OEMs do not offer. That said, and even though I own a Z fc, I am mostly interested in full frame glass because I have plans to invest in a full frame body once I see what's coming next from Nikon, so I actually save money on glass by buying the full frame versions.
Makes sense, but since you own a Z fc, this opens the door for you to try 1 or 2 out, good thing is , they don't cost much. :)
@@Vahagraphy I can't deny that I'm intrigued, but I'm trying very hard to rationalize my purchases because I'm in the market for some more expensive glass (like a 105mm Z micro, and a 50mm 1.2 Z) so every dollar saved counts :) The LAOWA 35mm 0.95 for example is something on my radar even though it is MF. But it offers something that Nikon will probably never think of and I don't currently have any lens with the same focal length :)
I have a Z50 myself, and my original thoughts to get lenses would be to just get some of the F-mount lenses with the FTZ. So I have the Nikon 17-55 f/2.8 and a Tamron 70-210 f/4.0. These lenses bring an interesting alternative to the F-mount primes. They're probably around twice the price of getting second hand F primes but with much better sharpness etc, but nearly half the price of new Z primes (not much in the second hand market where I am) even if the sharpness etc isn't quite to the same standard of the Z primes.
I'd probably only get zoom lenses if they produce them, e.g. if they do a fast wide angle zoom, or something as fast as the 17-55 but with better sharpness and less CA. It's getting interesting now.
Interesting points. I have a combo of F lenses , 3rd party, and Z lenses. I use them for different purposes. I've noticed aswell that the second hand market quantity has gone down allot. there is noting out there right now.
No IBIS or lens VR, but the z50 paired with those Viltrox lenses make for a great, inexpensive video kit. Just ordered both the 33mm and 56mm to toss on a gimbal mounted z50 to see what we can do. Guess I may need the 23mm also...bet I can shoot a wedding and the couple won't even realize it was with "budget" gear!
Nice, let me know what you think after a few shoots. i would love to know. thanks .
@@Vahagraphy the 56mm showed up and I'm blown away at the performance for the price. Bokeh wide open is wonderful and eyes are plenty sharp using eye autofocus. Focus seems faster than an adapted Nikkor nifty-fifty. Shot pets yesterday; will try it in my portrait studio and compare to my D780 with an 85mm f/1.8.
Hi Vahagan, I just did a home coming event on Friday and it went great, we used the Z6ll and Z50. I got a lot of amazing action shots, and for the most part the Z6ll did a good job. But I have to admit there where times the camera would not focus on where I wanted no matter what I did. I am not a Jared Polin fan, but I don’t think he’s completely wrong, I don’t think it’s as bad as he says, but it’s definitely not perfect. The problem I have is I can’t afford a Z9 (whenever that is released) and will have to wait for that new technology to trickle down to the Z6lll or whatever comes next, and that will be years away. This is not to say the Z6ll is unusable or can’t take action shots, it just can and should be better, especially when compared to the Sony or Canon auto focus systems. What are you thoughts?
Well. I use the Z6 and sure. the camera is not perfect. but what camera really is perfect. None. The Z6ii is much more advanced than my Z6 and I have used it for some shots. I was pleased with the results. Even using DSLRs when trying to focus on less contrasty scenes it has trouble. but here is my take. I would much rather have better glass than a camera system with a little better AF. The nikon Z glass is amazing, Nikon G glass is amazing, I guess you would just ask yourself, how many times will you be shooting in those types of situations, I would just take the good with the bad. and yes wait until the new AF trickles down. For me its glass all the way.
Hello, Many thanks for excellent video, was waiting for it.
One question, I have F mount 50m f1.8 G lens DX and also 18-140mm VR lens, Do you think I should buy Viltrox 56mm 1.4?
Or Just by FTZ adapter?
Awaiting for your reply. Thanks again
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Do you own a DSLR? if you sold your DSLR cameras, I would sell those 2 lenses and by the viltrox for sure. No adapter. great results. and you dont have to buy an ftz adapter anymore.
@@Vahagraphy Yes I have Nikon D5500 DSLR, I tried to sale it before but Noone was interested. I'll try it again or I'll keep D5500 with 18-140 with ND 10 for Landscape. Try to sell Nikon 50mm f 1.8 g and buy Viltrox 56mm.
ZfC with silver 16-50mm kit and Viltrox 56mm 1.4 is more than enough.
Many thanks again 🙏 keep up the good work. Best regards from Poland
@@Amitp0303 Thank you Amit. Best of luck to you as well. Try your local camera shops. see how much they can give you. maybe put it on ebay, Ebay is your best bet. Whatever you decide, take your time and make the right choice for you. patience is key when buying and selling camera stuff.
Why not include the 23mm as well?? I love the viltrox 23mm 1.4z .
Also there's a firmware updates for those lenses you talked about and also the 23mm 1.4Z
Viltroxxx send me the 23mm!!!! I want to review this lens. hehe
How does the viltrox 56mm compare to the nikon 58mm 1.4?
Well, the 56 in this video is an APS-C, about an 80mm FF equivalant. Hard to compare these two. The Nikon 58 1.4 is a special lens. Not known for sharpness as much as lens character. I sold allot of my G lenses this year but decided to keep the 58 1.4 . That tells you something about that lens. As far as the viltrox Z mount in this review on a Z50 or Zfc. great combo. I was very pleased with the results I was getting. For the price, can't go wrong.
What you recommend the lens between viltrox 56 or 33?? I think the 56mm is better!
Depends on what you are shooting. FOr more portrait work the 56.. the 56 is sharp and has nice bokeh. If you are looking for a mid range lens then the 33. both are almost equally ggood when it comes to sharpness and focus.
@@Vahagraphy Thanks for your comment!
@@user-iu2he1tt6w welcome. anytime. they are both good lenses. for the price they will work great. and the focus on video is good too. it doens't haunt like before.
Did you mentioned that they are not stabilized?
I think that's an important information and should not being withhold.
I agree. My bad. Thank you for pointing that out. Specially using it on a Z50. A camera that does not have IBIS. The Z6 , no problem. In the future, when reviewing viltrox again I will mention it.
I am looking for ultra wide lens for landscape for my Nikon z50 .I hope viltrox bring 10 to 20 mm for z
Thank would be great. An ultra wide from viltrox. Im guessing we will be seeing this lens in the future.
@@Vahagraphy I am mainly looking for landscape and street photography lens for Nikon z50 ..
@@krranjit there is a 23mm out , I dont have that one but I heard its the sharpest out of all of them, 35mm FX equivelent.
@@Vahagraphy I will check ,Thank you !
Hi.Viltrox 33mm apsc means 50 mm equivalent to full frame?
Yes around 50mm you are correct.
@@Vahagraphy tanks!
your audio so terrible,, make sure next time using good quality of recorder
Thanks for the input. Im upgrading my Mic system soon. Just doing some research on a good one.
@@Vahagraphy 👍👍🙂
@@lotharjoseph5040 Im liking the rode and shure mics.
I thought the opposite
@@lotharjoseph5040 That's a matter of opinion. In my opinion the word "terrible" is extremly exaggerated. For me the audio not so bad.
