EDIT: I did my maths wrong and stated that the MSRP of the MSI RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X was $250 over the 4090 Founders Edition, when it's actually $150 over the FE's MSRP. Sorry for the error! Too bad GPU MSRP doesn't mean much these days :(
Jay did the same thing in his review lol.
Forgot one. It would be the fully liquid cooled gigabyte version. Hopefully you'll get that one to test soon
Lol its okay
MSRP never meant anything except for the price that Nvidia is charging for their model. It’s nothing new that partner cards cost more.
@@arclyte1859 must be that new math they teach in schools these days
These designs need to be more mainstream going forward, the sizes are getting out of hand
This is great man! Love your content. Will you do a video of the 4090 and your triple 4k monitor set up? Would love to see it.👌
Running this card in silent mode right now. It runs quiet and cool and I’ve barely seen in pull more than 300 watts. Usually a lot lower while gaming with everything turned up. Just sucks that I needed to download MSI software to control the RGB. Thankfully, once set, you can kill the software and won’t need to reload it again - or until you want to change the lighting.
How's the pump whine? That's the main thing that irritated me with my last AIO GPU - the pump just ran at 100% fixed even at idle and was the only audible part of my system at idle. I'd be very curious to hear that and also know if it runs at a fixed 100% load or if it's PWM and ramps down at idle (when you're most prone to hearing the pump over the fans).
@@Matt-gf4gd I don’t notice it. If you really try to hear something, there is a slight tick, but that is only if I place my face next to the card. I have it in a Phantex Evolve X with a 360 AIO in Push-Pull in the front and the Suprim mounted on top. With all the fans in the case, all I hear is a soft barely noticeable whoosh of air at idle. And my fan curve doesn’t get crazy under load. One thing I did have to adjust was the fan curve on the Suprim. The stock curve kept spinning the fans up and down which was annoying. I just had to keep it flat between 30 and 44 degrees C and the the card was whisper quiet.
There is some noticeable could whine at high FPS though. Hopefully that will eventually go away. After about a minute of gameplay though, I don’t notice it anymore.
Does. Your light go on an off. Mine runs good just not sure if thats how it is stock
@@sa1sa624 The RGB is set to white and pulses until you download the software and set it to what you want.
@@sa1sa624 yes it does that at default, u can change that with some application
A water cooled 4090 is not even overkill. I consider it necessary to be able to install the damn thing inside the average case. With the fan installed at the front where you would install one anyway, it makes perfect sense....in and of itself.
Yeah I get that I was about to say the radiator takes up space though but I think they should make the radiator have custom options so that you can use the same one and also hook up to CPU cooling
@@ChiquitaSpeaks this would be nice so that it doesn't limit your case choice but from what I heard the GPU will run hotter though as it would have to share the same stream as the CPU. You would have to go custom if you want to prevent this.
For me honestly I rather just pay less for the FE edition as it's cool enough for me and it's one less rad to deal with.
I wasn't looking into getting a 4090 until later this year so I missed out on the FE which probably won't see a restock at all this year. I was however able to secured this Suprim Liquid X recently at MSRP. I'm still thinking if I should build now or just wait for the next FE though. The two cases I'm looking at so far are the Y60 & O11D Evo. The case I really want is the Fractal North which is OOS at this time. Too bad I didn't notice this case until recently as again I wasn't looking to build late last year but instead wanted to wait until late this year.
@@volcalstone I was hoping one large rad two streams in and two streams out
6:20 Man, those 16-bit jams are killin' it.
hey, my friend met you in Vegas last night! “oh she’s doing portrait?” 😂😂😂
I got the surpim liquid amonth ago. Loving it. Its so quiet and an absolute beast. Paired with a 7800X3D it is fantastic
Read the title out loud walking in my University and 3 people looked at me weird
No you didn't
They are AMD GPU fan boys. They’ve been saying AMD is better since the beginning of time.
Understandably so 😉
Probably because you are reading random CZcams video titles out loud ?
@@rekx3497 lol i just read the notification I got unconsciously
I wouldn't expect much performance difference unless the FE were thermal limited. IMO should have just compared more important differences the liquid cooling potentially offers: better thermal headroom and better acoustics. The main reason I'd opt for the MSI liquid is if it runs significantly quieter at idle and load.
Exactly. 10 degrees cooler doesn't mean much when the reference card is already pretty chill. I would have preferred a noise normalized and thermal normalized test.
But I guess we have to rely on tech jesus Steve for that.
Always enjoy a good Bitwit™ video on a tuesday afternoon
Hi, I liked the video posted.
I have a question regarding the radiator.
Will it be possible to change the original 240mm radiator and apply a 360mm radiator?
Compliments
if you can get your hands on one could we perhaps see a Aorus Waterforce extreme 4090 review, I've been pinging off the MSI Liquid x and that one
I have the Liquid X and dang am I glad!!!!
OCing this is incredible!!!!
I don't suppose there would be any conceivable way to install this card into the NR200P Max case is there? I love the SUPRIM X air cooled version but want the quietest set-up possible.
Just received my 4090 Suprim Liquid X today and I cannot believe what this card can do. Been looking at benchmarks since the release but I really wasn't expecting something this big (I also came from a 3090ti)
Just got mine this week. Came from a 2080s. Life is good
Just got mine. Preparing for starfield

I've heard the same error in both Jay's video and this one. This card is not $250 over the MSRP is $150. If it was $250 it would be $1850
Ah! Good catch. Appreciate the heads up.
@@Bitwit Np! Been watching for a long a very long time it was kinda odd to see you also made the same mistake as Jay. Glad to see you posting again today, hope to see you streaming with Paul soon!
I think people just expect Aio GPU to be at least 200+ more so by instinct they don't think 150 more is possible. Serious amount of review that made the same mistake kinda interesting.
Nice and clear review! Sounds like that the MSI is an amazing card!
I am building my own pc and I like bit wit video they are so fun and are always nice to look forward to
How bendy are the tubes on the GPU side? Im strongly considering to get myself one of these GPUs, but I'm unsure whether the tubes would be bent too much because of the side panel
Generally this card would be vertically mounted. That said, it depends on your case.
@@OscyJack- I own a O11Dynamic XL. Im in the market for a thin 4090 with decent cooling performance, it will end up in a workstation for CUDA compute, alongside a 48GB quadro, when those come out in december. Memory bandwidth is extremely important for the application im developing, and I've heard that the suprim liquid has great memory bins, so I would really like to go for it, but if it doesn't fit it doesn't fit. The alternative would be the aorus waterforce, which has a larger rad, but idk about the memory binning
@@firstlast-qy6xn I will fit, though it will be a tight bend. On my xl, with a 2080 ti kingpin, I needed the vertical mount. Just due to the 011 having the Mobo section bulged out. Normal case it'll fit just fine
@@firstlast-qy6xn also, fyi. The aib cards have pretty stellar cooling. Mine goes under water soon but it games under 60 at all times
@@OscyJack- the problem is that a second GPU will be added to the system at some point, blocking airflow for the 4090 and the 4090 must be thin enough to not cover up the second PCIe slot
What up Kyle? Why the infrequent uploads? Is the new studio treating you well?
@bitwit would you be willing to do some comparisons if i loaned you my 3090ti kingpin VS the 4090
I'm so lucky I got one these days at 1900 euro price with a special discount on a local shop, probably it slipped through their system cause any other 4090 was 150+ euro more.
The only thing they need to water cool is that power connection to the motherboard.
Just wait till we get a 4 120m fan card with a 480m rad. That's overkill
I wanna change but what should i do with a 2070super barely 3 years old ?
Got the Suprim Liquid X 4090 and sold it for Retail + Tax as it doesn't fit my case so now I just wait on the 7900XT
The memory heats up to 80 degrees, is this normal? MSI RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid
6:29 So... If I remember correctly, AoS supports explicit multi-GPU mode? Non-SLI? So how about testing that with two 4090s?
I am running mine with (2) m40s.
Nice warlock shirt
I'm thinking to replace 2 original fans that came with Liquid X card with Noctua slim fans. Has anyone done a replacement before? Is it worth doing it, is there a noticeable difference?
Yep, I did this with my 3090 Suprim X. Made a difference, and since then incorporated a noctua custom vram gel fan config, replaced the rad with 360mm and now neither mem or core go beyond 40c no matter the load. Keeps clock speed over 2235mhz and mem +1750 without it changing
Here we goooooo!
But is there going to be a 4090 that comes with a complimentary fire extinguisher?
If you can only fit a 240mm rad, ok.
But there is a 360mm rad option that imo makes much more sense for this level of build. Together with a 360mm AIO for the CPU with some Noctua fans it would be a simples and very cool, powerful and quiet setup!
as an owner of the xtreme waterforce, go with the smaller msi liquid. the difference in the 360 is negligible, not worth the extra size.
@@UporaFilms smaller as in smaller rad? Coz I remember the water force is a smaller card since it purely liquid cooled without any fans.
@@RexZShadow Its virtually the same performance, both cards. the only slight difference is the fact that msi core clocks better, while the waterforce has better mem clock. The 360 rad has diminishing returns. Both perform very chill.
(edit) To add, my waterforce junction temp is around 66c, and hotspot @ 50-55c in Cyberpunk 4k Psycho.

oh God oh fu-
I would just about kill to put this in an air cooled build.
Got this card for MSRP yesterday from Microcenter. Hopefully, it's worth my hard-earned coin.
Been super happy with mine, had it since launch. I must say it runs a lot cooler and uses less wattage then my 3090. The 3090 under full load @2k averages on 1800-1900mhz at 58C @ 380w + compared to my new liquid X running 2565mhz @4k using 180w - 240w. My room is no longer a crack oven and now a usable space. Love the super efficiency of the 4090, oh yeah I can undervolt the 4090 to 40% power slider on msi and still enjoy Max fps!
Same here. Running it on an ultra wide (G9) and thought something was wrong since the power use was so low.
Undervolting has become super important lately
Then != than
Great to hear!
That's it I'm getting one and selling my 3070 FE
But can it cool the card when it catches fire form the 12 pin?
Unless you bend it like hell
I’m wondering if I can run this in a small PC case…

No wonder EVGA dropped them.
“An Ice Cold RTX 4090! MSI SUPRIM LIQUID X”
man it sucks seeing all these cards on youtube when their unobtainable. would be able to buy one right now if it wasnt for the scalpers. pair nicely with my 13900k
The three Unprecedented's: Unprecedented speeds, unprecedented wattages and unprecedented expenses. Maybe its worth it?
A 4090 is never going to be worth it unless you want bragging rights. The only real justification for buying a 4090 is that you want one and have to expendable income to comfortably afford one. If you think you need one because you do machine learning or visualization of large, complex datasets or something like that, you need a Quattro, not a 4090. If you wanna run 4k gaming, the most you need is a 4080, and really you’ll be perfectly fine with a 3080, 3090 (or the Ti of either) or a 6800xt or 6900/6950xt.
You might say you’re future proofing your build, but IMO next gen is gonna bring the same performance at a significantly lower price, and most people that buy a 4090 are doing it because it’s the fastest gaming card on the market. They won’t be satisfied with anything less than that, so as soon as something faster come out the 4090 goes on eBay
Yeah it's definitely worth it. I'm coming from a 3090 xtreme waterforce, which was flashed and oc'd to barely sustains 1800 - 2000mhz stable, without being thermally bottled at 65c which was about 400w +. However, my new liquid X runs natively at 2565mhz at 4k not even getting to 220-250w, with plenty of room left for OC. Sure, I could of easily sold the 3090 and used all of it to pay for the 4090, but I'd rather gift my circle of friends a GPU, this way we all stay gaming together. Asses your needs, I am a heavy flight sim user and need all the power I can get, without the heat associated with it, and to think the 4090 was cheaper then my 3090 and totally smashes the power and performance!?
@@abnormallynormal8823 absolutely worth it. I have both 4080 and 4090, there is a very noticeable advantage of 4090 even in older games like CS:GO. Fewer dips, way more smooth overall. 4080 is still a great card, but 4090 is definitely a better option.
do you have any interest in playing cod modern warfare II?
Hi Kyle! I’m looking for a second, slightly lower end rig for my second house. My main PC has a x570 prime, ryzen 7 5800x, and an RTX 3070. Any suggestions? I’m hoping to try out a ryzen 5 7000 series if possible. Thanks!
5600x would be a great pick if you're going for a lower end gaming rig. AMD currently has some of the best prices for budget cards right now. 6600/6600xt are both under 300 dollars currently.
@@supersolidsnake7772 the 6600 cards are that cheap? I’ll look into that thanks
The 6600 xt is worse than the 3070. If u want a upgrade get the 6900xt I believe is going for 650 on Newegg and is able to do 4k gaming and pairs nicely with a amd cpu
U can switch it for the one u have and use the 3070 on the low end build.
You shouldn't go any lower than your current rig if anything upgrade and use your current rig as the second one
Should I buy 4090 OC I'm thinking of buying it, and also can anyone tell me plz where can I buy ROG Maximus Z790 extreme motherboard in India?
Amazon, if not you screw
You should get the rog z790 apex, I got the rog z590 apex is a monster, a beast
it has similar design language as tesla cyber truck
MSI needs to stay gamer looking like the strix card.
I have one right now ready to go into my build (gigabyte OC) but I'm not installing it until this melting connector thing gets sorted out. I can't watch 1600 dollars go up in smoke, i worked my ass off all summer to afford this thing and I'm definitely not risking it until Nvidia give us an official solution.
Why not just buy a new PSU with the native pcie5 power connector and not worry about it? What's another $200 for a new PSU after $1800 on a GPU?
Or a $20 Corsair cable, or a $60 cablemod one.
Every msi adapter I've seen is fully rated cable wise. Mines been installed since launch with no issues. I even left the PC on for 2 straight days running benchmarks.
That said, cards under warranty. Might as well use it
@@OscyJack- great, if you lose your house in a pc fire make sure to claim it on the gpu manufacturer's warranty. what a brain dead take

Pffffftttt just gotta sell ma kidney 😒
unserviceable AIO cooling that will eventually fail on a $2000 video card is kinda sketchy thou.
I would buy it if I could afford it !

I've actually noticed that my 4090 draws less power (120-220w Max I've seen) compared to my 3090 which was pulling 380-420w constantly. Not to mention the heat difference.. So yeah smarter tech saving money for once!
Please don't show 1440p benchmarks it's depressing to see that
Funny that not a single Techtuber is mentioning any coil whine of the 4090 cards. 95% of all cards are affected with it. Watch out.
My 4090 Suprim L has some bad coil wine 😞. Capping my frames at 141 plus gsync does help reduce the noise a little bit. Oh well….

Super Suprim.

Dude... I feel scammed. I was under the impression that you put the radiator into a thing of ice. I saw none of that in this video. Why did you do that?
I'd prefer a 360mm or 280mm radiator.
Understandable, but the 240 does a great job of being cool and quiet on this card. It was really surprising. Just need to play with a custom fan curve to get it just right.
I am using a air cooled VW radiator.

The INNO3D RTX 4090 ICHILL Frostbite comes pre-installed with water blocks for a custom water loop, and even though it is only made with an untweaked reference board, it STILL outperforms EVERY other RTX4090 GPU on the market, so long as you give it enough radiator space, say a 420mm radiator. So, if you partner it with a decent PSU then it CONSTANTLY boosts with zero throttling! Also, EK waterblocks are releasing a founders edition FRONT & BACK active water cooling block, which should be amazing performance, as well as looking the nicest I have ever seen, with lovely RGB, and its called "EK-Quantum Vector² FE RTX 4090 D-RGB ABP Set - Nickel + Plexi"
Not really outperforming them. This is pretty misleading and dishonest. 4090s are so tightly locked down that its not even outside margin of error. Overclocking is even pretty locked down to the point where they all pretty much do about the same.
Also getting 1-2% more performance while paying way more then other cards its just fucking dumb. Sure it is really pretty, and you can do a lot since its a lot smaller and not 7 lbs of a cooler, but they did charge a ton (waterblocks are pretty expensive so i dont blame them) but then again most custom water cooling isnt about making sense so :P
@@ShimejiiGaming No, check out der8auer EN CZcams channel, the video called "Contradictory Marketing regarding the INNO3D RTX 4090 ICHILL Frostbite! Great Product - Weird Slogan". This card commanded HIGHER average FPS and clock speeds WITHOUT any overclocking!
