  • We leave Zihuatanejo and head for the lovely little island of Ixtapa where we find a delightful turtle sanctuary.
    Plenty of sailing and searching for a safe anchorage, leads us to the beautiful bay of Manzanillo where the movie Ten was filmed back in 1979.
    More boat jobs and a few hairy Peanut landings too.
    Thanks for watching and following along with our adventure.

    That outboard motor sounds like a cross between a model aeroplane engine and an out of control singer sewing machine

    With the splicing Wendy......with short splicing you won't get any extra strength in your splice after 3 or 4 tucks. Don't forget to roll the splice between your foot and the deck to settle the splice down as you finish.

    The fly away drone shot from the beach to the sunset is one of the nicest video sequences I’ve seen. Nice job!

    Looks like you are having a good time, even fighting the waves looked like you were having fun. I like that Marlin spike that Wendy was using to make the splice, I was taught with a spike that was just a round point that you used to unlay the rope, or I would just unlay the rope by reverse twisting. I have to say that for a first ever eye splice that one looks really nice. It looks like you have mastered the secret of the eye splice already, the secret being take your time and double check your braiding.

    Another great vlog guys. I am amazed how much Ixtapa had changed. We were down there in the early 90's. We stayed in the white and brown brick hotel @1:53 nothing but swamp north of there then. We also snorkel around Ixtapa island. What a fun trip.

    Cheers! I can see from Wendy's face that you are not enjoying yourselves like the U.K. trips down the icy canals in January. :-) I Don't know why I feel the need to help you with pronouncing Manzanillo, when you have so many there to help you if you really wanted to know. But, from my high school Spanish, the "ll" is a 'y'. So, man-zan-nee-yo. Now, forge on an cheer up. Larry

    Great fun attempting to pronounce the Mexican ports names! Having been brought up on Southern California, learning the pronunciation was an absolute must if you were to survive! You kids did fairly well considering you are from down under where they speak funny too! Kidding! BTW, who is that traveling with you?

      @LifeinaNutshell  Před 5 lety +1

      We use the mizzen more than any other sail. We even use it at anchor to smooth out the rolling.
