Samsung Ice Maker Freezing up [FIX]

  • I spent months trying to DIY fix my Samsung freezer issue. I tried all of the tricks found online but only had temporary success.
    I finally fixed my issue by just calling customer support. I figured that I would be out of warranty as my unit was from 2016. However, I explained to customer service all of the issues we've had and my efforts to fix, and they agreed to send a tech out a no cost to fix.
    So don't try to DIY this one, just call Samsung and get it done.

    Glad you were able to get yours fixed. I called and since they do not have a service program in the area they will not fix it.

      That sounds odd since they usually use 3rd party service folks as well. I'd try again and see if you get different results with a different rep.

      I am in the U.S. Samsung does not have an authorized 3rd party to repair their appliances in my area. The reason is that Samsung did not treat the local authorized 3rd party fairly with time and rate and would not negotiate with them to correct. I was given a voucher coupon for 50% off of any appliance purchase from the Samsung website. However, they never have the item in stock for purchase and/or will not deliver to my area. I have given up on Samsung and will not purchase any of their appliances again. The refrigerator I have was also a 2016 and part of a class action lawsuit that Samsung does not honor.
      In My area if you purchase a new Samsung appliance and it fails under warranty the only thing that can be done with it is replacement. The issue with that is they my not have a replacement to send you anytime soon.

    Congratulations, you got lucky. I just received $640.00 refund. I'm still have problems with the ice maker, and now the digital is blinking code 33 C, and they said it's $120.00 just for the technician to show up here.

    Remodeled my kitchen 3 years ago and bought all Samsung appliances. The heater element on the stove has been changed twice, the dishwasher pump is broken and now the ice maker doesn’t make ice. I will never buy Samsung again.

    I made four calls spoke to for Representative walk-through with one of the Representative fire video did everything. She said she looked direct me. Everything still not working and this morning I was told because it’s over one year it’s not under warranty and I will have to pay for it to be repaired, I bought the refrigerator and the late December 1922 or January 2023 so please tell me who you spoke to that really worked with you

      Yes, our unit was out of warranty as well. I'm not sure what is going on. Maybe they've changed their policy at this point. I called the number in the video, so that is the only contact I have.
      Perhaps you can call them back and mention all of the issues you are having, and indicate that you're aware of a known issue and it should be covered by them.

    the worst refrigerator we’ve ever owned it’s a constant problem… never again, i tell everyone i know how bad it sux

      This fridge we have is what has sworn me off of samsung anything ever again. Bought a new oled tv and went with LG.

    However if you are out of warranty it will cost $400-600 to fix...but of course they'll offer you 10% off on a new fridge...

      I was out of warranty and they still fixed for free. I think they know the design is flawed and they are trying to avoid a huge lawsuit.

    Samsung did the same for me. They came out twice already in a span of a few yrs. Still having issues years later

      Ugh, that stinks. Luckily my issues are resolved and I haven't had trouble again.

    Called yesterday, they never heard of the issue they told me and gave me a number for my closest service centre.

      Ug, I'd say keep calling them and reference the other tickets where they came out and you are still having issues.

      No, just a guy that inherited one of these units when we purchased the house. It seems like Samsung is acutely aware that this is an issue and are more willing to look past the warranty end date.

      I'm glad this worked for OP, however, its probably because Samsung has had to refund so many for the cost of the whole fridge and damage to their property because of this design flaw. I got refunded for both. Also shortly after a tech came out and did the work the OP is describing along with sealing it with caulk. It worked.... for a while. I'm currently in a forced defrost mode to get the ice maker unstuck. 😅 Bottom line, either avoid Samsung fridges or get one without an ice maker, at least this type of ice maker.

      They told me it’s only between certain years that they will fix it. Mine was out of the time frame but 3 years

      No, the fridge was purchased in 2016/2017. I think this is such a huge issue for them they are making exceptions for the warranty.

      Fridge was purchased in 2016, so out of warranty. No BS, I was shocked. They know the crap is defective.

      @@Hieysk I just found out samsung lost the class action lawsuit and they are replacing them as "extended warranty" ice maker only. I just called and they are setting me up for a tech to come and repair it . 9/18/2023 I baught mine in 2015. 👍 Thanks
