  • SimpleShot Pro Tip: Know how to inspect your bandsets and when to say goodbye.
Pouches are incredibly resilient. SuperSure pouches (the original laminated pouch) are known to last years and years. Don't throw that pouch away when your bands break!
But bands . . . well, they fail. Age, ozone, holes, tears. Inspect your bands each time you use them to make sure they're up to the task!
We often receive inquiries from many slingshot enthusiasts about when it's time to replace their bands and pouches. Let's address this crucial question!
Starting with pouches, I have a Super Sure pouch that has been my loyal companion since 2011. It might look ragged, but the shooting experience it offers is still top-notch! The balls have formed the pocket over time, and it still works wonders for me. If you're someone who loves their pouch and feels an emotional connection to it, don't rush to toss it out!
However, if you're the kind of shooter who prefers a new pouch with every band set, go for it! One thing to keep in mind is leather pouches tend to stretch in odd ways, while microfiber ones being man-made, often do not. So, when do you replace your pouch? The answer is simple - whenever you feel like it! If it's close to breaking, then it's time to let it go. But if it's just stretched and stopped stretching further, feel free to keep using it!
Now let's discuss the heart of the matter - bands. Always inspect your bands before you start shooting. Look for nicks or holes at the attachment of the bands and pouch. This is where the bands usually start to wear out first. If you see the edge starting to get rough or find an actual hole, it's time to retire them. Also, double-check your bands at the attachment point to the slingshot. If there's a big tear, abandon it right away.
Remember, all latex degrades over time, whether it's being used or not. Common factors contributing to this degradation are ozone and UV exposure, so if you haven't shot your slingshot in a while, check it for UV damage.
To summarize, keep using your pouches until they show signs of breaking or until you feel it's time for a change. As for bands, always inspect them at the attachment points and everywhere in between. If you see any visible tears or damage, retire those bands immediately to avoid any slaps in the face!
So, get out there, shoot those slingshots, always check your equipment, and most importantly, have fun! Remember, every shot is an exhilarating experience with SimpleShot!

One question: exists a lubricant for flat bands? I mean latex.
To give manteinance and keep it in good shape.
    Greetings mr Masters.

How well would a scrap of nylon strap work as a pouch or should i just stick with leather?

So being I’ve bought a reserve amount of band material, say Thera band gold or black latex and keeping it in my plastic tub
stored in the bag it was sent in, Will it be prone to deteriorating? Thanks

The bag we send bands in is treated to preserve bands. They will make a big difference. Always give that inspection to make sure. There are lots of variables!

Do you vacuum seal extra latex for storage? Would that keep latex "fresh?"

Hey there . I was shooting very well last week. Had the same set of bands on after probably 150+ shots. No visible contortion in the bands noticed, but I was shooting way off track. Just to verify, time to change bands after continuous inaccuracies? P.S. - purchased the Scout and absolutely love it

If the bands shot well for 150 shots, the problem likely lies with you and your technique.

I'm pretty particular about my pouch too! Would love to know how to remedy stretch....

Unfortunately, the stretch will always happen over time. There is no way to avoid it.
