We posted videos on this topic before, but this one warrants another one. Knowing how to tune your bands properly is possibly the most important thing you can learn in order to shoot slingshots well.
In this video, Nathan explains how to get the best possible performance out of your bands.
If your bands are not properly tuned, you will either experience lots of wasted energy and premature band wear or you will be underpowered and be completely underwhelmed by your slingshot performance.

I just received my SimpleShot Hammer Lt and adjusted the bands to 6", which works great. I'm amazed at how accurate I am with the LT compared to my old mini Wrist Rocket; it's night and day! I suppose it helps that I recently took up archery and learned how to establish a (cheek) anchor point and release techniques. I'm looking forward to receiving the Hammer XT next week and would've bought the SimpleShot Master Collection bundle, but they're still on backorder -oh, well! Thanks!

Im new in slingshot. What kind of band and ammo for my personal protection in my house or going out. In my country gun are not allowed. Thanks
I live in a metric world 😂 So one can say, I just measure the distance from the fork to my face in aiming position, or where my hand will be when aiming, divide it trough 5 and then I have the optimal band length?
Yes, it works exactly the same way.

How do you know the optimal elongation factor/percent of a band?
Most bands are between 5 and 6x. We usually start at 5 and keep moving up little by little until we find the sweet spot.
Why can't they just come already tuned to the average face anchor draw length? Then just have a special seperate listing for those who want to go butterfly draw length with these 10 inchers.
They need to be trimmed to ones draw length. Even people with the same draw length may have different active lengths. Example is like if one shooter is hunting and wanting more power vs. someone who is target shooting and wants better band life.

how do i know what % of elongation for my bands?
Start at 4 and work up from there. 4x is nice and conservative.

Dear Sir,kindly explain whether draw length of anyone's flatband will remain the same irrespective of thickness of the band or otherwise?
The draw length will be the same, but the bands active length will be different depending on latex brand, thickness, and max elongation capabilities.

@@simpleshot But the different thicknesses of the bands make them easier or harder to hold back... I think there should be a "thickness" factor involved in the forumula... :)
Your videos are awesome but I have a suggestion or a humble tip if you like. When you’re talking about length, you obviously use inches, if you could say metric as well would be great😁 so we the Metric guys don’t have to do the bloody math🧐😁👍
The more numbers put out there make it harder for the folks starting. The math is really simple these days with everyone having a cell phone with a calculator app. 25.4mm equal 1 inch.
What can we do? they measure in feet, yard, inch and what not 😂

I have the opposite problem with some videos. Lol . Also I grew up with standard measure/ I sure you prolly grew up with metric. Lol what a great world we live in. I do see some folks just putting both on the screen that does help alot ! Good day !
so what do i actually do to tune my bands, i feel like this just gives a list of measurements, i must not be very bright
Tuning them is trimming them. No problem; we are all here to learn!
Once you learn how LONG they need to be, tuning them is cutting the bands to the length. Measure carefully before you cut! You can't put it back! 👊
just watched this 3x and i still dont know how to tune my bands or what it even really means. so confused.
Jorg Sprave has a band calculator. Just need to know how big your ammo is and how much it weighs
