Toward the beginning of the film, Mjolnir is discovered by civilians in the New Mexico desert, and a crowd quickly gathers. The people realize that the hammer won’t budge, and something of a festival atmosphere is created as various people come to try to pry it loose, Excalibur-style. One of the people making the attempt is a trucker (listed as Stan the Man in the credits). Lee fails horribly in his attempt to move the hammer with the help of his truck, as the entire back end of his pickup is ripped off.

The guy who first tries to lift the hammer (right before this scene starts) is Joe M. Straczynski (famous for making Babylon 5). He wrote the Thor comics for a while, and one of the things he did was to have Asgard end up above the town of Broxton, Oklahoma, with a lot of jokes about Asgardians and Okies dealing with each other.

You could probably make this into a real-world thing. Just make a prop Thor’s hammer, then below the dirt surface, weld it to a massive chunk of steel buried below the dirt.
Then rake in the medical bills from people pulling muscles trying to lift it.
Check out the Man at Arms build. Despite using sheet metal, their version of Mjolnir weighed 20 lbs. If they had made it solid, it would have been over 200 lbs. Easy way to weed out those who are not worthy :D

one guy did something like that by putting an electromagnet in it so it would basically be glued to the ground until he pushed a button on a remote that turned it off and then it could just be easily pulled.

If it had been in the back of the Truck, the truck would have moved. But they were trying to drag it from where it had already been placed. In addition, the Truck was being driven by a man, and whilst we all know Stan Lee is worthy, he was trying to do it to impress a group of dudes, not because he was trying to do good. So the Hammer refused him.
