- Winter is here and more piglets are coming! Brownie the sow is nearing her due date and I have to get her farrowing pen ready. Farrowing piglets in cold weather can be tricky, and I want to make sure everything is ready. Also, I visit with Red's three week-old piglets and the pigs in the field, and talk about an alternative feeding approach I've started with our cull heifers.

I've been watching you for a while now. My husband doesn't watch the farm videos. My husband loves to watch people redoing old houses. He can in and said...honey you need to watch this man redo his old farm house. I started to laugh and said honey that's Pete. He's the man I watch working on his farm.
Haha!
Deep Purple on a banjo. That was hilarious Pete! Enjoy your winter of fiddling with equipment. And choresssssssssssssssssssss
I had to come back after several hours to see if anyone else heard "Smoke On The Water". Glad I'm not the only one.
The most legendary thing I've ever seen. Smoke on the water on the banjo intro...
Pete, I don't know how you do your chores without carrying tools. I carry a 6-in-1 screwdriver, pliers, flashlight, small screwdriver with a magnet and a pencil. Always a piece of paper on me to make a note. I'd be lost without my tools at my side. I'm a little jealous.
You crack me up! The banjo solo! 😂🤣😂
I never get bored watching the repetitive chores! I find it relaxing and therapeutic. And somehow I always learn something. Thanks to all of you making my life a little better everyday.
Smoke on the water on a banjo!? Never a shortage of clever irony with your channel! ♡
Deck screws, the greatest invention of the late 20 century. I haven't used a nail in 20 years!
After watching deliverance I have a hard time listening to my banjo without getting nervous lol
Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow. Just a couple of months ago it was hay cutting.... How time flies!!
I have an idea: once your sweet-feed heifers are cut and packed, have your dad over for a side-by-side taste test to compare against the 100% grass fed ones. It would be neat to see an “outside” opinion.
It definitely looks cold there, but it was very peaceful watching you do chores with the snow coming down, and forking hay to the steers in the latter part of the video. Looking forward to the mechanical videos Pete!! Stay warm!!
I love it when you find them in a pile and startle them. it's hilarious.
I Love that you like to try different ways of doing things!! I Hope you have a Wonderful Weekend!! 😀❤⚘
Your what I call : The Mr. Roger's of the farm! ( So mild mannered)
Pete, you should do a compilation video of the the Dad Jokes you’ve told. 😂❤️ It sure would be fun to watch with my kid.
Another fine vid. I guess its coming up toward one of two "bad days" on the farm, at least for those male piglets. Hopefully Brownie produces a good litter for you. I'm looking forward to the comparison vid on the grain supplemented cows vs the straight grass fed, not only weight, but meat and how they do at the market. The Bearded Butchers did one on how the two types come out from their perspective and I thought it was quite interesting.
We love the banjo prelude .LOVE IT
Blistering version of Smoke on the Water! Made my day.
Thanks for your willingness to do a video today even if the weather wasn't exactly "temperate". I've noticed recently (and esp. in this vid - but I assume the snow and low temp. today played a role) how very quiet and serene it is on your farm. Excluding your narration, the only other sounds today were from the livestock. In other words, no sounds such as the "delights" of the constant rumble of traffic, periodic car alarms, and other types of man-made noise pollution. Coming from the suburbs, this tranquility you and your family have is really poignant - and rare in 21st Century America. It's how most rural people lived before widespread mechanization. You're a lucky guy, Pete.
The little roaches are beautiful with their different color palettes 🎨
I miss my piggies and can't wait until spring to get more. Thanks for lending yours for a bit.

a joke doesn't become a dad joke until its full groan
Keep on living the farm dream we all enjoy your wise earthly words.
Those little piglets sure are growing fast,so cute.
You sounded pretty good on that banjo. Hope you have a great day, thanks for sharing. I love watching you guys taking care of things around the farm🙋
Pete, what a great guy. You take care of your animals so well. It’s like they are part of the family. Enjoy the rest of weekend.
I enjoy your farm scenes no matter the weather. I lived next to a farm as a child, and helped out whenever they needed me for pin money. I’m curious about what other people and farmers do in the winter ❄️.
You're piglets look great !
So uniformed in size
Just want to say Pete Your Grave explaining stuff with my past construction history it would have been interesting to listen to you as an architect
Man, i love this life.
My folks had animals at their country side property, back in the day..
I’m ready to hear the first run, run , run , run for the piglets 😀 I hope you and your family had a great thanksgiving Pete!!!
The rooting instinct is strong - even at three weeks they root in the wood shavings.
Smoke on the water on the 5 string, a man of many talents
Piglets are so much fun to watch run and play
Pete, your eyes are a beautiful, piercing blue
Pete somehow we all enjoy watching you do the chores maybe because we're not doing them at the time I don't know why. I do enjoy little pigs been at it almost 50 years and still never get tired of little pigs. Butcher size hogs on the other hand bring out a new vocabulary lol. Keep up the good work and God bless you all
You sure bring back a life a lot of memories even your bad jokes remind me of my dad
Unbelievable!! Lol Love it. You are such a good owner of animals. You take such great care of them. ❣️🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼❣️
My local Walmart sells grain fed steaks and grass fed steaks and I've tried them both often. There is no doubt in my mind that the grain fed are the most tender. Twice the marbling. Period. Thank you. Love your vlogs.
These piglets are adorable.
A good video always has a “dad joke”
Smoke on the water on a banjo genius simply genius.
Barley, ive found works well with pork... Ive also enjoyed corn fed beef rather well. Personal opinion. Sweet feed and crack corn were a staple for the horses when i was growing up. Pretty cheap at the silos to get the bed of the truck filled with cracked corn. Lay a tarp in the bed before filling, easy to unload as i recall.
Hi Pete, I like watching you do chores makes me feel like I'm right there and helps me through my day
I love seeing your animals, its so cool the way u show them , also hiw u explain all yr chores and problem solve. I want to pitch in to help often ,lol
Thank you for sharing...your "routine" is my entertainment.....thank you👨🌾👍😎
why did the snowman have a smile---------He herd the snow blower was coming
Another great video Pete, well you faired better with this storm than we did!. we got a good 10inches of new snow. fact i just came in from shoveling the porches, the shed, the car, and getting it started to clear off the snow. got the mower started to keep it limber and batt. charged. windy gusty 24F so we share a lot of the same chores. except my live stock went the way of the traveler years ago. Too old to mess with that stuff anymore. so I sit and watch you younger guys have all the fun! Can't wait for those tractor parts to get here and the MD coming into the garage. thanks so much for taking the time. and for sharing. ECF
Pete u r so smart those little guys sure have the colors
Loved the opening smoke on the water riff. Haha. That was unbeeleaveable. Video idea for winter - new pig shelter above grade to keep it dry
Pete, I poppdon’t know that I’ve ever sent this to you but I think you have as nice looking Sows and pigs as I have ever seen. So many cells are real long and tall but they’re not filled out nice and lean like yours are❣️❣️😊Truly, also, is Your Red sow♥️♥️t is such a beautiful sow!!!!
Cute pigs come From beautiful Mom’s I really admire how kind you are to your animals and I think that reflects in their temperament around you as well
It was nice to see you and Hillary together again on a video and again she’s wearing red and looking really nice. I vote it’s her best color for sure
I’m with Hillary when it gets cold do it you have to do and then get a good book and read!! I think it’s more of us retake on the attitude of the important it is to rest during the winter months because you work so hard the other nine months of the year we would be better off.
Happy Thanks Giving to You, Hilary and the kids. Looking forward to any video you put out.......just take us with ya!!!
*HI PETE AND HILLARY AND PIGGLETS* 👋
UnBEElievable...OK keep going! Tnx Pete you keep us warm in winter. Take care
Meat taste depends a lot on what your raised with. Some like the grain as I do. Others grass fed. My daughter had some grass feed and did not like it. Those little pigs are sure growing. I'm ready for the MD build again Pete. Thanks for sharing Iowa is watching :)
Grass feed pork is the best in my opinion.
I hope you have a BETTER day! 💙
I'm 59 yrs old and still love the first snow every year. I've tried some grass-fed beef and have difficulty getting used to the flavor. I think many people are so used to the taste of beef from the grocery store. I live near where there are several feed lots in New Mexico and west Texas.
The first time I had it I thought it had gone bad. The smell was very different and so was the taste. Since I can’t afford it in a regular basis I’ve never gotten used to the taste but hopefully someday I can buy it more.
Thank you for honest presentation of small farm life.
Thank you for your videos your intros are always lively
Feeding the girls the grain will make it easier to load them in the trailer when the time comes.
Well put Pete! These issues highlight some of the decisions that farmers make when determining what to cull, and what to keep. Great explanation, thanks for sharing. I hope you and your family had a safe and joyful Thanksgiving! I also hope the same for today, Sunday and the week ahead.
I'm not tired of watching you feed the cows and pigs. These images give me so much peace! Thank you for sharing.
I never get tired of your videos Pete. Thank you.
Smoke on the water off a banjo just hurts my ears😂😂🤣🤣👍👍Looking forward to the tractor video's.
Kicking those bales in the pig pens looks so satisfying!
Hope you folks had a very nice Thanksgiving Day all together at home. Always enjoy the tasks at hand you share with us. Thank you for what you do.
Mom hollers, kids head for the hills. Lol
Thanks, Pete.
Thanks Pete for an awesome video! I really enjoyed it!
That Bee joke was intense Pete!
Things are looking good on the farm and slowing down for winter. It's good to slow down and kick back for awhile. You'll be out cutting firewood soon enough.
Pete another good video. Thank you.
Thanks again for sharing. Farm fresh is the best

Keep the great work up and please keep the great videos coming friend from Scotland 👍😀
love watching your channel-- so inspiring on so many levels faith in humanity is always found by watching you and your family keeping on keeping on---
You are an interesting fellow. Good to watch. I liked that you let us see the pigs for a lengthy period. Please continue. Best, Liz in Canada
Been following you since 60k subscribers, Pete, and I just now realized that you have two barns. Oof! Would you consider, if you haven’t already and I missed it, doing a drone flyover video of the property so we can mentally map out where the various buildings are, relative to each other and the fields?
Those are some great sows, and nice piglets!
Always good to watch your videos
I love those dad jokes 🤣
I love your channel Pete. Thanks a bunch
Another great video Pete. The piglets are so cute!
Thanks for another very informative video.
The old school farmers here in North Central Florida used to finish off the hogs by releasing them in peanut fields grown for that purpose. They said the meat
Had a wonderful flavor.
Carol H
I don't know how true it is, I heard a story some time ago, that in order to produce Virginia hams the pigs were fed 75% peanuts and 25% corn to get the correct lean to fat, flavor ratio.
The piglets are growing so fast. You sure are a great caregiver to your animals. 🐖 🐖 🐄 🐄 🐓 🐓
So cute to watch. Those little piglets.
I really enjoy your videos as well as your disposition.
We are in the midst of buying a 77.6 acre plot here in the Ozarks in Arkansas and many are like refresher courses from when I farm handed as a young man.
I also love that you haven't "sold out", even a little bit. I am sure you get hit with all kinds of offers to promote things on your channel and you don't promote the consumerist attitude in the world today, but a fiscally conservative way of living simple. It is refreshing, educational, entertaining and encouraging.
Thank you.
Great video thank you for sharing your day
The black mottled piglet is beautiful. All of their different colors are awesome.
Good morning Pete I feed crack corn roasted flakes soybeans to the cattle and I find them to finish out quite nicely .Have good day 🇨🇦
Hello Pete thank you for another great video I laughed so hard probley harder than I should have when ylu called the piglets "roaches" I thought that was a good one but your right they run & scatter just like roaches do when that light comes on I hope you & the family have a great Sunday 💜
