Here's How to Think Like a Farmer

  • We've got lots of work today moving animals and loading hay, and here's how to think like a farmer: our farm contains storehouses of necessities to get us through the long term. Hay, firewood, animals, and food. Today we have a bunch of jobs to get done, including moving the turkeys and giving them their first "weigh-in." Our final delivery of hay comes, and of course theirs the daily chores to do.
    Note:
-We do not offer farm tours or accept visitors
-We do not sell from the farm
-We do not ship our farm's products
-We do not sell live animals

It’s so refreshing to see couples, such as yourselves, share equally in the work for your homestead. It’s a beautiful property, and the house is just wonderful. I know it’s a lot of hard work, but it’s so rewarding to be able to see what you’ve accomplished. Good job, you two!! 🙏🏼❣️♥️❣️🙏🏼

It's one of the last A's built before they switched to the Super A. When you crank by hand they all have that same sound. :) :)

I was the city girl who had no idea how much work went into farming. A farmer has to be a mechanic, meteorologist, chemist, carpenter, and one who understands animal husbandry, as well as a good spouse and parent.
We thank God for you and your very sweet family.

Pete, you reminded me of something that my uncle used to do. He had a few acres to maintain, but wasn't a farmer, so this probably wouldn't help you.
Since he had these acres to maintain, he decided that he was only going to have one battery for all his powered equipment. He had a homemade tractor, homemade mower (3 wheel hydrostatic), a riding mower (Cub Cadet), and a front end loader that he also plowed snow with. He got tired of going out to use something and finding the battery dead, so he would only have one battery that was always charged up, so if he wanted to mow, he would put the battery in the three wheel mower (he made this for mowing hillsides and banks, mow with it, put it away and put the battery on a float charge. The only machine he didn't change the battery into was the Cub Cadet as this used a smaller one. He did this for many years. In his younger days, he and my aunt would raise ponies, and he hand made sulkies and Pony carts to sell. He worked for a tanker manufacturer, so he would make stainless steel diamonds to embellish the carts, and his customers loved these.
He got scrap from work to use in building his projects.

Every time I came home from work and drove up to my gate to drive into the drive my chickens would see me and come running I would say at least 100 yards from the chicken yard to greet me and let me know how the day went. I really miss that time in my life but I got super down and couldn’t take care of my flock going through cancer treatments and my wife sold everything.

You exactly right about screwing the plug out of the touch control system slowly and waiting for the hiss...don't ask how I know... Usually during the winter, I will crank my tractor about every week and let it run for 30 minutes or so to keep the battery charged as I basically only used it then to scrape snow. Great video Mr. Pete as always!
