- Me and some friends testing my recently aquired Federal Signal STL-10 siren. This siren is a three phase model, and we had the piece of sheetmetal over the intake to make it easier for the generator to start.

Now the thunderbolt that the panel belonged to now has one hell of a hickey on it.

I had one of those sirens next to my old elementary school it was yellow, but then taken down for no reason at all. It was in really good shape too
I always wondered if you could take something like a funnel and stick it on an air intake like that, and put a vacuum hose on the funnel and see how much suction it pulls in...
I can easily say that this man is in heaven.

How can the siren be already spinning (At low speed) even before the generator is started at the beginning of the video ?
They could have already attempted it, say the generator stalled, and they cut that portion of the footage. These take a minute to spin down.
how much force did it take to pull the sheet metal off? like how many pounds?

@AngusTheCow95 Blocking the air intake causes less strain on the generator due to less resistance.
The guy with the glasses looks angry in almost all of the videos I have seen with sirens...it is sort of humorous.

ikr. I think it would be really scary to hear an aca allertor or an aca p50 at night. And even scarier to see one at night.
I think it would be scary to hear an HOR sirex siren at night I would hide under my blankets. Especially if it's doing attack mode 😱. Than god were I live we have Whelens.

This one's got a GE motor. I'd wager it's 15 HP since the motor is taller than a 10 HP valley motor.

put the horn on the intake and a hood cover and youll have a 7 port sirex
there is an STL 10 siren in downtown on the town hall in Green Bay WI :)
it has 7 ports and sound like a french air raid siren(like the Clio Michigan STL-10)
The DS Pakita (A.K.A French air raid siren) is actually 8 port
You should stick this in a P-15 shroud and see how it compares to a real P-15 at a distance.
