Superb in depth review mate. Good job!
I used this last week for the first time and was really impressed. Great video
Fantastically clear and precise video on the product and how to apply each one.
I have been trailing through so many CZcams video on the Auto-Glym products and so many just lose me within 3 or 4 mins with so much babbling.
Huge Thank You 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Peter, I'm glad it helped you! 👍
Thanks Specky for yet another fantastic review I’m going to give this process a go to see if it will speed up the cleaning process over the winter months. As I don’t like letting tasks over run and end up working in the dark which happed last week.
No worries Greg, hope it works for you.
Great demonstration of the product set. This is the first time I've watched the channel - I could not resist clicking on something named "Specky McSporran"! I'll check out the rest of your videos. Cheers
💗
Very useful video Specky , I'm looking at giving the Polar range a try while it's on for 3for2 at you know where 😉
Thanks for this, very detailed and a great watch.
Thank you! 🙏
Hi Specky, just found your videos and I do like your reviews. Have been wondering about using these products myself and thinking "to good to be true" but after watching this video I'm definately going to give it a go! Cheers.
Thank you, glad you found the video useful 👍
Thanks for that great review and demo video!! I went out last week and purchased all 3 of these products (20% off at halfords) very helpful indeed.
Glad you liked it 👌
They're good products, I'm sure you'll like them 👍
Excellent vid and well presented.
Just used the Autoglym polar range of products after watching your video and found them very good especially the polar seal, video was very informative thank you. I stuck to the amount of product to use as recommended by the manufacturer and still had some left so will adjust next time for the car (M235i).
Awesome, glad you found the video useful. 👍
Cracking vid fella, no bs .. just an honest video.. 👏👏
Thanks 👍
Great informative video. Cheers
The Polar Collection is one of my favourite products. Works well to top up the protection already on the paintwork. Good hydrophobic properties.
I happened to buy one of these kits from Halfords today. I came across your review when I was watching your review on the AVA pressure washer. That was a good to see it in action.
Thank you!
Thanks, very helpful!
I just have the polar wash and I love it for quicker jobs, I much prefer this method or doubling up this and a shampoo to make it super slick. Nice work Craig 👍
Thanks mate. I still enjoy using the snowfoam to this day, it's thick and smells nice 👍
Thanks for the video.
Hmmm interesting! I wash my vehicles exactly the same using the 2 bucket method, so it does seem a bit strange, but I'm all for saving a little bit of time. Thank you specky for the great video.
Thank you. It's not any better or worse than the 2 bucket method, just different. You could argue that it saves water as you don't use much to spray the shampoo onto the car.
Your channel name is fantastic!
Thank you!
Interesting. Hope you gain alot more subs, you're easy to watch.
Thank you!
Very nice video Specky well done.
Thanks! 😁
This is brilliant mate, cheers. Seen some other videos where people seem to be using 250ml of product with 250ml of water making up 500ml? That means you would get 10 washes out of a 2.5 L bottle of Polar Wash rather than 20!
Thanks Matey ! Very informative and enjoyable ! Now where’s my wash mitt ? 👍
Cheers Lee 👊
Great video. Loved it.
Thank you!
Great video, I'm a beginner and looking at this stuff to use.
I hope it's helpful to you 👍
Great vid. Thanks pal
Thank you! 👍
Great review and how much was left and covering the replacement at the end. Thanks.
I just purchased the polar series as this seemed a much easier method to wash the car especially during winter. I was really impressed with the ease of use and the final result. I do feel it’s quicker if you have two snow foam lances. Just to note Autoglym recommend not to apply the polar seal directly onto the windows. In your video you do! I am impressed with all three products!
Glad you like them. I don't always follow instructions as I like to try things they tell you not to do 😁
Specky McSporran Have you ever used any of maguire and auto finesse products? Any you recommend? I see them stocked in Halfords but unsure which one to try. Bilt hamber have the best snow foam and wheel cleaner in my opinion
Good info in here dude. Good vid as always.
Here are my thoughts on using the product for about 6 months now. I have tested 3 different cars with it over this period with the entire polar series. All cars are different ages and different manufacturers.
Polar Blast : Decent product, easy to work with, goes on thick, comes off clean. I found I needed to use warm to hot water when mixing to up the cleaning power of this product. Cleans as well as most snow foams out there, but there are better that I have used. The negative of this was that the spend foam can linger for a while on the ground/driveway and takes a day or two to fully break down.
Polar Wash : I liked the idea of using a one bucket wash method, or even a no bucket wash, and this was great for cold days/winter washes when you wanted a quick wash as the product just lingers on the paint without drying or running off the panel. It looked good and rinsed clean. It did a good job of cleaning the car, but ... I found in hot days that I "lost control" and had to get round the car quickly before the product dried, or go slower than a 2 bucket wash and do 1 panel at a time wash then rinse, which was a pain as changing the lance constantly slowed the wash process down. On hot days it was a lot slower than a 2 bucket wash.
Polar Seal : This did apply a clear barrier that lasted a 3-5 weeks on application. I have tried to use this in different concentrations over the test period, but no matter what, this just didn't do anything for the cars I used this on. What I mean by that is the product just sat there on the panel. The panel looked duller as well with the product applied. There was no surface tension on the product and the water beading behavior was non existent It was more of a sheeter than anything. I wrote to AG to ask them what I could do to improve the performance in this regard, but this is really meant to be a topper for any other LSPs or waxes (which I found odd because its claimed that this is a sealant?). I did however, try AG rapid detailer on top of this product, but it only masked the characteristics for a short while (a week to a few days). Even when I tried SRP/EGP (after a complete strip down of the car) and this on top it still it masked the waxes hydrophobic characteristics or the EGP. I did read the instructions carefully, and watched the Yts on AG channel on how to apply this stuff, but for me, this was a fail :(
Final thoughts, I would use the blast and wash again, but not the seal. Maybe I got a bad bottle of Polar Seal, but I wouldn't buy again, given that there are way better spray and rinse type products out there, that offer more desirable characteristics at the same price point and durability.
Like Meatloaf says "2 outta 3 aint bad" :)
That's quite a review!
I totally agree about blast, it's nice and thick but it does longer on the ground like most thick snowfoams.
I would use wash on one half of the car so it doesn't dry out but it can extend the wash time a little.
My experience with seal was different as you saw in the video and I've used it a few times since with the same good result. That makes me think you've got a bad batch for sure. There are many good alternatives as far as spray-on, rinse-off sealants as you say. Hopefully you find something you'll like. 👍
Interesting point about the Blast lingering. That's important to be as I have to wash my car on the street.
Cracking! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
I reckon I was a Polar Seal in a past life. Ended up being a hearty blubbery meal for a hungry polar bear😬. Great review on the product. I have just received my IK Foamer over the weekend, so will be getting this at some point at a Halfrauds near me. 👌
Have fun! It's a good bunch of products, they work well together 👍
This was a great demo of how to use Polar range, thank you for such a clear explanation. I am planning to use for the first time later this week when temperature cools down a bit. I have a couple of questions I wondered if you could help with. I have a Mercedes which has a manufacturing sealant on it so is it ok to use all 3 products? Also it is a convertible I assume I need to keep all 3 products off the cloth roof.
Thanks Jane. All of the products can be used over existing waxes, sealants or coatings so you shouldn't have any issues there. And yes, keep them off your cloth roof where possible and use a dedicated cleaner and protectant for it.
Really helpful video, I wanted to now if I could use the polar series on top of a car that had UHD wax applied. Question answered, many thanks!
Glad you found it useful! 👌🏻
Good review fella
Thank you, kind Sir.
Loved the video, really helpful. Quick question though, what phone mount do you use on your pressure washer?
Thanks. Just a GoPro handlebar clamp with a threaded adapter and a springy phone holder. Cheap and simple.
It’s a great product!,Just make sure suns not out!
You can't blow dry on application of this product. A drying towel helps level out any residual product and remove unwanted sealant.
Use the blower next wash however.
been looking forward to this and i must say really good informative video, thanks any chance of reviewing autobrite magifoam snow foam, heard alot of good things about this
Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I may include Magifoam in a comparison video with a few other snowfoams.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I may include Magifoam in a comparison video with a few other snowfoams.
Great video. You explain things very well. Are you using the auto nozzle for your Nilfisk, and what Nilfisk model do you have?
Thanks, and yes that was the Auto nozzle. My pressure washer is the C100.7 I think.
I used it easy to do...love it works top class
👌🏻
Hi Specky. Great video, I have been using this full system for a little while now on my car and have found it does a great job. One tip I would use is to purchase three snow foam bottles, they do not cost much from amazon, then you can have all products already mixed and ready to use. I found it a pain to keep rising out the one bottle and pouring the left over mix in a separate container. Cheers
Cheers Colin. Yes, I get what you mean about swapping out products and it's not a bad idea. 👍
Re the Snow foam, just confirming, was it 500ml water to 100ml product? I tried this today with a hand held pump gun, but had to use 1 litre and 200ml, but the 'foam' was too runny. I think the pump I am using hasn't been designed specifically for this job!
Great vid thank you, Im off to do mine now See ya
Enjoy! 👊
Hi, very helpful video which I’ve watched a few times now. I’ve tried the Polar series only twice. My question is, are you supposed to dry the car off before using the polar seal? The polar wash bottle says dry after the wash and rinse, but you appeared to apply the seal to a damp car? What would give better results. Does it matter? Thanks
You can use it wet or dry as it's a wet application product. Just make sure you dry after applying and rinsing polar seal so you don't get any water spots.
Thank you for this review I have just bought a pressure washer and some polar wash, my car doesn’t get dirty enough I don’t think for polar blast first, so a good jet wash before I start should see me right. I have a smart car so am guessing 75mls of both water and shampoo should be enough as I only have half a car 🚙 to wash 😛👍🏻
Haha yes good thinking on both counts 👍
Just bought some polar blast and the blaster to use it in, going to give it a go tomorrow, hopefully I’ll have a blast😂😂😂😂😂
It's thick but the dilution ratio is rich, and the lance is basically the same as Detailed Online which is good 👍
Found your vids really well done and have now watched quite a few, just for my own info - I'm going to need to use some tar spot remover and i suspect quite a bit of it - when in the wash cycle is it best to use it? I though at first it would be best to use it before pre-wash so when I've applied the seal or wax product at the end of the cycle the tar remover application won't spoil the finish but now i'm not so sure. When or at what stage do you use the tar remover for spot treatment? thanks and sorry for the random question..
No worries Allan, personally I'd use tar remover after the contact wash. If you've got an LSP (Last Step Protection) product on the car then the tar spot should come off quite easily but there's a risk that your tar remover will degrade that LSP. The good news is that LSP is fairly quick to apply in the form of spray sealants etc so you can always top up after a tar removal session.
@@SpeckyMcSporran that's makes sense re the contact wash. I have no wax or seal on the vsr paint at the moment and I suppose I had it in mind that I'd be using a fair amount of chemicals in the tar remover and it would make sense to wash it off after lifting the tar spots. Thanks for the advice, I'll follow your guidance.
wow that polar seal is good
Yep, impressive stuff
Thank you for the detail review im new to this polar range and im gonna try it out on my fiesta. just a quick question did you use hot water in your lance or cold water. after the polar seal can i use autoglym aqua seal?
I used warm water in the lance but I've used cold water too and didn't notice a difference. I assume you mean Aqua Wax? If so then I'm sure you can but the wax will behave differently to the polar seal. If you re-apply polar seal after every other wash then you'll be topping up the protection so no need for the Aqua Wax, just dry the car after. Hope that helps.
@@SpeckyMcSporran thank you for your advice I'm definitely going to try this out. 👍
Love the polar blast and polar seal is amazing product. But am not a fan of the polar wash. Prefere there HD Shampoo with 2 bucket method👍
That's fair, I've used in a bucket and it's fine 👍
Autoglym is my favourite products my dad used it before too I wonder have you ever reviewed the Mer brand I think that’s what’s it called. Take care specky
I've been tempted to revisit Mer but it wasn't as popular as AutoGlym, Sinoniz and T-Cut. I'm not saying i won't ever make a video on it though. 👍🏻
I like it, including the fact that each bottle will be emptied at the same time. Very convenient. Could you do it all without any contact with the mitt? I mean could you just spray on Polar Blast, let dwell, then rinse. Then spray on Polar Wash, let it dwell, then rinse. And finally spray on Polar Sealant, let it dwell, then rinse and blow dry. No contact at all which of course means NO chance for scratching. I like it!
Technically you could but the car wouldn't be properly clean. We don't yet have a 100% effective touchless wash product so unfortunately you'll still have to touch the paint. Follow a safe wash with a mitt and rinse bucket and you'll do well to keep the damage to a minimum.
Thanks
fyi they say not to put it on the windscreen cause it’s safer to use wipers instead of relying on hydrophobic properties 😉
I've used the Polar Seal for a while now, one thing i would say is it HAS to be dried off otherwise you get waterspotting like no tomorrow. Aside from that, super easy to use.
Thanks, I always dry the car so I've never given it a chance to dry naturally.
Do i have to dry it with a microfibre towel or can i just blow dry it using a car dryer?
That's up to you. You could blow the car to get most of the surface water off then use a towel to pick up any last bits. The blower will be great for getting water out of panel gaps, mirrors etc.
@@SpeckyMcSporran , okay, will do 👌
Very nice video, thank you. Can you wax after the seal?
Thanks Eric. You can but I'd say the polar seal would be more akin to a topper rather than a base sealant.
Hi, great video, just wondering if it can be used on pvc windows and doors? Personally I can't see why not, however you've tried and tested various products, so would have more experience to confirm or don't recommend, thank you
Technically yes however I can't say how long the sealant would last. I can't see it doing any harm to try it out.
Great explanatory review. The only problem I have with it is that must have been the cleanest car I've ever seen that's been used for a car wash review. I would have liked to seen a properly dirty car; like when you spend all week driving up and down the M6 then have to clean it when it's filthy at the weekend, especially if the roads have been wet. I know the colour of the car doesn't show the dirt so much as darker colours might, but the wheels looked like new before you even started cleaning them.
The car was dirtier than it looked but silver hides a multitude of sins. I might revisit the range again in the future.
@@SpeckyMcSporran Yes that's fair comment. My problem is when you're watching to find out if a product is any good, many of these videos only feature cars with about a day's worth of dirt on them. I guess most detailers don't let their cars get that dirty - it wouldn't be a very good advertisement - but it's not a real world situation.
Every car I've owned since then has been darker so it shows dirt and difference better. Also summer driving doesn't leave much dirt on the car so it's harder to demonstrate and you have to trust that the reviewer is being truthful. I will say that I was genuinely impressed with the Polar range as far as user friendliness and performance is concerned. I'm happy to recommend them. I appreciate your comments.
Thanks Bro
👊
Hi Specky, loved the vid, can you please tell me where you got the foam lance you use? , mine is usless and i wish to get one like yours. many thanks john.
Thanks John. That lance was a cheap one on eBay. If you want a better quality one then check out Detailed Online.
@@SpeckyMcSporran thank you so much for your reply, looking forward to the next review mate.
No probs, thanks for the support 👍
Hi mate great video, at which point in this process would you use auto Glyn intensive tar remover as my car has a lot of tar spots on the lower half, would it best to use after the snowfoam? Cheers Chris
Use it after the snowfoam and wash, get the car as clean as possible before you attack the tar. Might be a good idea to use an iron fallout remover at the same time. Then use polar seal to protect the paint.
Great review thank you 😊 one question, should I use plastic bumper restorer before spraying on the seal coat or can I use it afterwards please, oh and tyre shine should that go on before or after? Thank you 😊
Thanks Patrick. Ideally a plastic dressing/restorer should be used first to ensure a good bond. I'm not sure how much impact the sealant would have on tyres but if you want to get the best out of the tyre shine I'd try to keep it off the tyres so your dressing sticks better to clean rubber.
When would you recommend to put on a polish before or after the Polar seal?
If you want to use the polar range then I'd suggest the snowfoam and the shampoo to clean the car, then polish it to a high shine and protect it with Polar Seal. If you polish after polar seal then you'll remove the sealant.
You have started with a very clean car. With a dirtier car, should you pre-rinse before the foam?
It's a personal preference really. Some like to snowfoam a dry car to allow the foam to dwell for longer and others prefer to pre-rinse to allow the foam to get to the more stubborn dirt. Nowadays I always pre-rinse.
I've noticed in a lot of your videos you have a Nilfisk Pressure washer. Having owned 2 got pretty pissed off with Karcher as they forever break and cost a fortune to fix. I have just bought a Nilfisk on Amazon, and was wondering how you have found the operation and reliability with yours.
I haven't had a single problem with my Nilfisk. I heard others complaining about Karcher reliability (I think someone said they use plastic pumps but Nilfisk use metal pumps) so I went with Nilfisk as there were less complaints about them. However, Karcher are a massive company and probably outsell Nilfisk 2 - 1 so you're always likely to hear more about them. I know some people who swear by Karcher but I'm very happy with my little Nilfisk for now.
@@SpeckyMcSporran Your right I've had my Karchers open it's all plastic, and pretty straightforward to self repair, they just screw you on spares prices. I think Nilfisk are doing well and Karcher should bear this in mind. I really enjoy your reviews, keep up the good work.
Side note, have you ever tried or done a Rain X review?
Thanks man. I haven't made a review of Rain X but I've used it many times over the years.
Do you think that other shampoos can be used in the same way as the polar wash?
Yes there are many more, it's becoming quite popular to use shampoo through a foam lance nowadays. Sadly not many mention it.
Would or have you used the ceramic coating they do?
I haven't tried it as yet but I hear it's good.
Autogylm recommend not using polar seal more than once a month
And also to try to avoid getting it on glass
That's true, I didn't find any issues myself but you should always follow the instructions 👍
Would have preferred a review using a black car, silver/grey being the easiest colour to get clean, great review though.
You're right, but it's all I had to work with at the time 🤷🏻♂️. Glad you enjoyed it despite the colour 👊
@@SpeckyMcSporran ive been using this product for a few months didnt read the instructions and i was not putting water with it watched youre video and and hey presto better finish thanks for the info
Glad the video was useful for you 👌
Hi Specky, great video, how long does polar seal last?
I've seen a couple of months but it's so easy to apply that you can top it up regularly. It's not a long term protection but more suitable as a topper for a wax or sealant. 👍
I bought some polar blast and polar seal today (have plenty shampoo) so going to follow your guidance tomorrow as the weather's meant to be decent here (Cambuslang) thanks for the quick response and great video :)
Thanks mate, let me know how you get on 👌
Nice video, can you also use these on dirty cars?😄
The trouble with silver cars is you just don't easily see the dirt. I'll be revisiting the polar range soon so keep an eye out for that.
Hi mate, what model is your Nilfisk and did you buy your foam gun seperate?
It's a C100.7 and the snow foam lance was from eBay.
Thanks mate, looking at a Nilfisk Titan 120 and comparing to the Karcher K2. Not sure on which to go for!! Haha
@@jamessullivan8780 I prefer Nilfisk as a brand. They have fully metal pumps compared to the plastic pumps in Karchers.
Wonder how much per waah it works out as , think the bottles are 2.5 ltr?
They are but I didn't work out cost per use. Halfords sales mean the cost can rise or fall depending on the time of year haha
could you use the super resin polish after this system? or is it not required?
Ideally you should polish paint BEFORE coating. Super resin polish will leave a wax and resin fillers that the coating would bond to but are themselves non permanent. You'd be better to polish with a pure abrasive then wipe down before coating.
@@SpeckyMcSporran so you'd wash it and polish before? I guess if that's the case it wouldn't be worth it with this system. Is there anything recommended to use post washing or is the 3 stage system all you need?
Ideally... 1. Wash. 2. Decontaminate. 3. Polish. 4. Coat/protect.
How long does the polar blast last , how many washes ?
Depends on what you're washing it with, I've seen a couple of months but it's meant to be a regular application product so you wouldn't choose this if you want long term protection.
Silly? request for your future videos ... when you're talking, you're very quiet ... as soon as the music comes on it's really loud. Not too much of a problem with speakers, but if you're wearing headphones like I do, I get blasted every time your music comes on and I'm constantly trying to adjust the volume so I can hear you but not get deafened.
Yep, I've adjusted that for future videos. Sorry.
Washing the car twice with two snow foams seems excessive. Is it really necessary?
The first is a snowfoam for contactless pre-washing and the shampoo is for the contact. It's a good system for safe washing.
Can these products be used on caravans please
Yes, absolutely 👍🏻
Cheers will go and buy some to do both car n caravan
Must be a pain in the arse cleaning out the lance so many times before each product?
Not really, the snowfoam and shampoo are very similar so you don't need to fully clean it. A quick rinse before and after the sealant is all that's needed.
I thought it was necessary to spray the car down with water first?
Not necessary, but preferred.
So how many mls total did you use? 125 foam and 125 water?
For the snowfoam I filled the bottle with 100ml snowfoam to 600ml of water
@@SpeckyMcSporran thanks mate!I have a Karcher K4 where could I buy an adapter to fit a decent foam nozzle?
Most decent car care retailers have snow foam Lance's, just search karcher snowfoam lance and you'll find heaps.
Why do all these videos have loud music and then we have to turn up sound to hear the presenter?
My bad, made a mistake when editing the video but I've addressed it in future videos.
Why have music at all?
To either cover ambient sounds or to fill silence.
Specky McSporran Silence is golden.
Silence is boring. Each to their own I guess.
The sealant can only be used once a month as manufacturing guidance.
That's guidance, not a rule.
I USE A LEAF BLOWER TO dry car
I do that on occasion, just not on this video because I was filming at a friend's house.
You can't on first application of this product. A drying towel helps level out any residual product.
Use thr blower next wash.
You need 3 snow guns
You don't, just clean it out after each product
I'm referring to ease of use and not wasting any unused product still left in the gun.@@SpeckyMcSporran
First guy I’ve EVER seen start the rinse at the bottom … OMG!!! Aahahahaha
First EVER?! OMG!! Ahahaha where have you been?!
Shaun of the dead was good but Hot fuzz a bit shit.
I disagree, I thought Hot Fuzz was brilliant. The World's End on the other hand... 🤫
Volume levels all over the place. Button was up and down like a toilet seat.
Polar blast is a waste of money
Are you stating opinion or fact?
Two bucket is the biggest time waist. Get a half dozen of more mitts. Use it toss it move to the next one.
Awesome products but uses way too much water.
I disagree
