The Roundtable It's all very interesting to think about but in terms of her character I don't think it really matters. I don't think the revelations about her relationship with Pink Dimond negate her character growth throughout the rest of the show. Her growth from being almost aggressively reserved to being more open and understanding to other people is more interesting to me than the reason she decided to rebell against Homeworld to begin with.
Hmm, but what if our Pearl was actually White Diamond's Pearl at some point? I mean think about her personality. Even in the scene where she expresses her doubt that Pink's plan would work she's expressing her worrier's personality (as I call it). I don't remember if it was you Vox or if it was SliceofOtaku but one of you theorized at one point that White might end up playing the role of a grandmother (whereas Blue played the role of a mother and Yellow played the role of a father), and what do Grandmothers do but worry about their grandchildren and dote upon them, which is much like how we see our Pearl act with Steven

The way things lined up it seemed like Pink Pearl wasn't even made yet and that Pearl was there as a guide. How can I explain it....think about it like this after a Diamond successfully conquered a new world she would get her custom made Pearl but until that first conquest was done they were given our Pearl. You know how like Pearl makes Holo-Pearl as a training dummy?
I still strongly believe Pearl was originally made for White/served White, but was given to Pink later on. White is at the top of the chain, she can get any amount of Pearls she likes so it's probably not hard for her to give one away. Maybe she even has a harem of them, who knows? It's like marrying a harem girl to a prince/political figure in the court, as sultans with harems did from time to time.
I also LOVE the idea of White actually being colorful and prism-like, as in mostly white but with dashes of blue, yellow, pink, and maybe some other colors. Like Pearl herself. Peacock Mom, I NEED
Selin Naz Sur I really don't think she served White. People really need to take that theory to rest. Maybe atleast White made her as a gift for Pink. As Yellow Diamond and Blue Diamond gave her a colony (The Earth) then White gave her a special multi-functional Pearl.

Alex M Wells maybe they never met. The real question would be why nobody 'during the war' recognized Pearl. Even if they were the lowest tier gems one would recognize her overall design and gem placement, unless we're playing the Clark Kent/Superman game with her outfit change.
Well. There where at least 800+ pearls in total from what Peridot said. More than a few of those are bound to have it on their head. And they had all changed their look since the war.

Not maybe, Jasper didn't hide that she never meet Pink. Furthermore people commonly forget that Pearl join CG after assassination and get huge infamy despite that. I think soldiers on battlefront did know that Pear is a high profile traitor, but because most of them died information why didn't reach the top. When data for trial was collected Pear wasn't yet member of CG, so no one connect that fact.

+redholm-Yeah, it is likely that even the Crystal Gems assumed that Pink Diamond had a whole "harem" of Pearls at her disposal. It could even be that Rose made up a false origin story for even Pearl where Rose claimed that she liberated Pearl from a Diamond and everyone would be so impressed that a Rose Quartz freed a Pearl underneath the Diamond's noses, no one would ever really ask anymore questions about it. It's hard to say though since in The Answer, Garnet (and Ruby and Sapphire) originally referred to Pearl as a renegade, a "Pearl that belonged to no one." That seemed to be pretty common knowledge too, at least among Blue Diamond's court, that Rose's Crystal Gems contained a "renegade" Pearl that belonged to no one. Since Pearls are easily disposable and are among many and since no one claimed this Pearl for their own, it's likely that no one was able to recognize her. She certainly did shapeshift her clothing all the time to where she clearly didn't wear the same "royal attire" that she did when she served under Pink Diamond. Pearl could've even made her own origin story over how she came to meet Rose in the first place.
As for if Jasper ever knew Pink Diamond personally before Pink "died"/became Rose Quartz, it's hard to say. The only information she did give up was that she was fighting ever since she was created, because of what Rose did to her colony, because of what Rose did to her Diamond. And that could very well mean about anything at this point. Some people do believe that Jasper's crying is audible in A Pale Single Rose where Steven sees the flashback of Pearl/Rose "killing" Pink Diamond, but. . .that still wouldn't pinpoint exactly when Jasper was created or what relationship she did have with Pink. All that's established so far is that she is still clearly fond and loyal to the Diamond she was originally created for, she didn't ever have any idea Rose and Pink were one and the same and that revelation likely would've destroyed her, and her whole reason for coming to Earth was to take revenge against Rose Quartz for killing Pink Diamond.
I fully agree with this theory, and I believe Pearl was made specifically for Pink by White, Yellow and Blue. All three other Diamonds had a hand in making sure this new Pearl would be sensible, intelligent, etc. to actually be helpful to Pink. That's why she had all four colors in her palette. An even crazier idea (but possibly canon now) is that White Diamond HANDMADE Pearl. The Diamonds didn't incubate Pearl and let her sit for a while, White made her on the spot just like Pink created those gemshards. At this point we don't know if the other Diamonds can do that, especially since Pink has 'life' powers (creating gemstones, resurrection, healing, plants, etc etc). But White is without a doubt the most powerful Diamond, so who knows.

I think the Diamonds were the founders and creators of Home World, as well as all of the other gems.
That would make some sense if you consider real-life gem lore. Pearl's gemstone is misshapen compared to the other Pearl's we've seen. She could be a Freshwater Pearl which is typically heavily manipulated and only 10% of the untreated ones are not warped. Although, Freshwater Pearl make up most of the market, which I imagine isn't true on home-world if you comparing the process to a handmade gift. Who knows how much of this they incorporate into the show, anyways?

Look at how she freaked out going “oh I need to be replaced!” That trauma still haunts her it seems. Each diamond handed her off to the next. Going “oh god she’s defective! She has thoughts!” Lol so yeah white was like “ew no. Here yellow. Have my pearl as a gift!”

Pearl is extremely focused, determined, and smart. Peridot is a bit silly but she is smart enough to build a giant robot with foreign technology on her own. And White Diamond is head of Homeworld (pun intended)
Also, a diamond's pearl is very respected as we see them taking roles as bailiffs and courtroom recorders and other gems standing down to them such as Peridot in "It could've been great"
What if Yellow, Blue and White gave Pink a pearl who was smarter and could keep her on task. What if our Pearl was a gift from White who doesn't trust her goofy granddaughter to make her own decisions?
MissConstruct haha i love how you slyly promote that family structure of granma WD, parents YBD and their grand/child PD 😄 i adore that idea so much, especially since old peeps are more prone to stick to conservative ways (the way it has always been) and are less likely to embrace change in the running system whereas the younger, less experienced ones, are generally more open minded to change since they themselves just begun taking baby steps in actively shaping their identities, more likely to act rash but brave and progressive (or at least against whatever doesnt seem right from their sometimes more naive/emotionally influenced perspective). Personally the idea of YD and BD being 'parents' or like a 'couple' really disturbs me since I pretty much see Gems of the same kind as sisters after the episode where Amethyst met a bunch of other Amethysts at the zoo.
SapphireShield i dont know about others but for me these terms we use to describe generstional family structures have more of a figurative (?) meaning? You know, you can have a really good friend of the same or a similar age and still you can have somewhat of a "mother-child" relationship. One where A gives advice, cares a lot and is protective and B is in need of that - just as an example. What we call and understand to be e.g. a "typical grandma" is actually more of a role in society, among a group of people.. It's an understanding we share what a person is snd behaves like in relationship to others. It's a bit hard to put into a short explanation but what i personally meant was this, rather than any shipping fantasy or whatever you can find disturbing about that thought 🐣 which also doesnt have to be since gems have been shown not to always have the same kind of intimate but only friendshippy "sister" relationship. Or, well, depending on how you understand a "sister".
An easier parallel the diamonds share with that family structure thought: WD seems to be the oldest in line, the wisest, the most experirnced. BD and YD seem to have this "sistery" feeling of being the same "peer"/generation but also were shown to have a lot of parental traits in theit character dynamics with pink. Also the apparent absence of WD in PDs active upbringing (as far as not indicated otherwise by the show) can be similar to a grandparent being part of the family but not necessarily the one a child has the most contact with (ofc a lot of family structures are lived differently. "Family" doesnt mean nor is executed the same around the globe). In the end, it's just a bunch of thoughts :)
SapphireShield but interesting thought nonetheless, i never thought about the meaning of being of the same gem kind 👵 the show didnt give too many clues on how to understand those. It depends on what real life parallels you draw i guess. If you see parallels to it being sth like incest, i understand the worry. But seeing as rather the fusion of different kind of gems is seen as scandalous by homeworld instead of fusion of the same kind of gem (e.g. a bunch of rubies).. I think it's not to be understood incestuous. I guess homeworld has a problem with inefficient, impractical relationships driven by "nonsensical emotions" anyway 😆
My theory is, is that our Pearl wasn't properly assigned to anyone, or any Dimond for that matter. I believe her purpose was to take place of a Pearl that was poofed or shattered, until they could get a new Pearl for the Dimond, or until the old Pearl came back if she was poofed. And that's why she has all the Diamonds' colors. That's my theory though

Dancing Unicorn we still don’t know if our pearl was originally whites, though. all we know is that pink diamond had an original pink pearl, but something happened and she was replaced with our pearl and white took control of pink pearl. whether or not our pearl previously belonged to someone else is still up in the air

Honestly I think that the only Perfect diamond is White, since, Pink was selfish, Blue cant control her sadness, and Yellow has anger management problems. In real life, white diamons are classified as the most pure and valuable diamonds, so, I think that in the show, White might be the Perfect Diamond, and the other diamond just make the other gems think that they are perfect too

I'm pretty sure our Pearl was originally part of White's court. Telling gem placement and character design choices aside, the way Yellow and Blue Pearl acted at the question of "and where was her pearl?" in the trial was shock. They both clearly knew Pink Pearl and had some sort of relationship with her, similar to how they interact with each other. In Message Received, our Pearl shows zero signs that she has any past history with Yellow Pearl when Steven asks her "Who is that?" and she replies "Not all pearls know each other, Steven." We would have gotten some sort of tell if our Pearl had any connection to Yellow Pearl in that moment.
For a few days now I have thought about this topic and that's what I've come up with:
1) Pearl is a white pearl (not *the* white pearl, just a pearl made for White's gems) Scince Pink Diamond didn't have gems before she started the colony, there were no pink gems on homeworld (unless you count Rubies but they're more red than pink), so the Diamonds just gave her a Pearl, planning to replace her with a proper one when the colony is completed.
2) Pearl acts different from Pink because the Diamonds expected (or hoped) that Pink would mature and act like a Diamond, so they gave her a Pearl the is more responsible.
She might also not act like Pink because, as I mentioned before, Pearl was temporary, so not much thought was put into it as long as there was one to assist the starting colony.
3) Pearl questioned Pink's decisions because:
A) She knew Pink wouldn't mind
B) Pink was inexperienced (pearl might also have been like a mentor to her, to teach her how to lead)
C) faking a shattering is a horrible thing to do, even by homeworld standards
D) They *were* fighting for freedom after all, so Pearl had the right to say her opinion to Pink Diamond.
E) Pearl could've been rusty, scince the Diamonds didn't have time to check a temporary Pearl's loyalties and behaviour.
4) Pearl wore clothes with different colours because Pink wasn't as strict as the other Diamonds. We can see the the other Pearl's look very similar, so there might be some sort of dress code for them (just like all other gems except Diamonds) that Pink didn't follow.
5) As for the moon base, it's white and not pink because again, it was Pink's first colony, so there wasn't any Pink materials around. The other Diamonds probably has thousands of years to experiment with different materials and see which were best, but Pink didn't, so her first moon base was from White Diamond's materials.
(Probably White's because she is *the* Diamond and has the best materials.)
Well, I think it would be a fantastic way to establish White’s character if there was a true pearl origin story. To introduce Pink in the face of White giving her such a grand gift would open a lot of opportunity for her character. Perhaps Yellow and Blue didn’t know how to reason with her, therefore they asked White to give her guidance in the form of a pearl. To see Pink’s emotions whirling in the face of White Diamond...who could be a tyrant, would be fascinating. I’d really like to see White introduced to Pink in a flashback of sorts.
Also, maybe White hasn’t been seen because she’s grieving over Pink’s “death” in solitude? Maybe she detached herself from reality and just shut everyone out. Blue copes by reminiscing, Yellow copes by being angry, maybe White copes by shutting things out???

Miss Fedora That last part makes sense. The five stages of grief are experienced differently by everyone. Blue is depression, Yellow is Anger, White could represent denial by secluding herself or Bargaining by shutting away others and feeling it could give her some closure for Pink.

MY THEORY: Our Pearl was White Diamond’s pearl, but unfortunately was off-colored. She was going to be shattered. But Pink begged to keep her alive, make Pearl hers. Maybe that’s why Pearl was questioning Pink, having her own opinions and such because she’s off-colored!

I think the most interesting theory is that Pink Pearl hadn't been made right away, and Pink Diamond needed a pearl to help her mature. So White Diamond, agreeing to let Pink Diamond have a colony, did so on a condittion that there was a gem there to supervise and help Pink keep colonizing. That gem was White Peral, as in OUR Pearl.
This, in terms of character, actually keeps most of the important things about Pearl intact. Such as that she was a pearl that didnt belong to anyone, a renegade who rebelled. She was sent by White to supervise Pink, keep her on tract, but she fell in love with Pink, and helped her stop the colonization against White's orders. And the falling for Pink/Rose thing is less of a servant falling for their master, and more of a sort of inspector falling for the one they're meant to be observing.
As for Pink Pearl, she was probably being made as the rebellian was happening, to be presented to Pink after she had settled the rebellian as a sign the other diamonds thought that she was mature enough to run a colony on her own.

I disagree with this theory on two accounts. The first being that Pearl was referred to as defective by both Jasper and Garnet, and can be further supported by the oval shaped pearl vs the round pearl the other diamond pearls have. Another way she could be defective is the multiple color scheme. Along with these, maybe her gem placement was supposed to be on her naval, like pink, and instead it appeared on her head. My second reason for disagreeing is in response to one of your facts to support this theory. The fact that pearl questioned Pink Diamond's plan while other pearls never question their owners. This could easily be that the relationship between Pearl and Pink Diamond is much less formal then the relationship between the other Diamonds and their pearls (diamonds specifically cause we haven't seen any other pearls). Pearl felt close enough to be able to question her diamond's authority.
Jasper thinks any gem that defected from the Diamond authority defective and/or flawed though. As for Garnet considering the events of late she could've been lied to about the whole Pearl is defective because she joined Rose in a rebellion against Home-world.
Meep Meeps Don't forget, in that that scene, only Pearl was called defective, and as for garnet, it is true that it is possible she was lied too, but it's equally as possible that garnet wasn't lied to and that it's the truth. We've got proof stating otherwise

Yeah the fun of making theories. ^^ What I do hope is true about this one theory that's been going around and even I commented on a few vids is that Pearl was like a training Pearl for the Diamonds from White. Whereas Pink Pearl had never been made as this was like a trial run for Pink.
My thoughts exactly. I'm so tired of pearl is white diamond theories. Like why would white diamond shape-shifts herself into a defective Pearl? Also why would the diamonds want to give a defective Pearl if defective gems don't fit within the mold of gem Society
We still have yet to see *_her first original form_* that was briefly shown as a silhouette in "Steven the Sword Fighter" right before she regenerated back to her form we have to this day.

I think that Pearl(our pearl) was a gift from all of the other diamonds to Pink. I don’t think that Pearl was the original Pearl. Since pearls reflect their diamond, yellow, blue or white or even all of them got rid of Pinks original pearl because they wanted Pink to become like them. Pearl doesn’t exactly have the same traits as the diamonds but it kinda makes sense. Pink may have convinced Pearl that what she was doing was right, but since she was made and gifted by the other diamonds, she was hesitant to follow Pinks demands. That kinda what I think.
I think so too, look at Pearl's clothes, blue sleeves, yellow stripe, pink veil tutu, white skin, and white diamond's gem placement

That's just my opinion
I think Pearl was originally made for white. Since in real life it takes so long to make a pearl, it made be that way in the show. This means when Yellow, then Blue came along they would need a pearl until their's were made. White figured our Pearl would be fine doing so, making her change her color palette to match. From there Pearl could have train the other two pearls in their duties before going back to White. Then Pink came along, so did an incompetent pink pearl (or she didn't have one yet, those where just ideas being passed around). White had our Pearl fill in til a new Pink Pearl was made. The rest was history.

These are no contradicting observations you know. I think they are truly made to love/admire the diamonds in a naive way similar to a child adoring its mother/parents. That doesnt make the parents perfect and a child might grow up to question the former almighty righteousness of their parents 👶 gems might function similar. In a conformative system where you are asked to behave the way its expacted of you and not allowed to question the status quo - chances are just slimmer for individuals to protest or think "out of the box"/their bubble
Arjoona Along your line of thought, I tend to view Homeworld culture almost deifying the Diamonds. Since no contrary opinions or evidence last long enough to spread to the masses, they lack the healthy discourse needed to create free thought. Peridot, to her credit, starts critically thinking about her mission incredibly quickly after meeting Steven. So, the gems are “made” to love their diamonds by the closely controlled culture, but probably aren’t literally made to do so while incubating in the kindergartens.
The gems simply view the diamonds as gods in my opinion. Just hope Kratos doesn't learn about them

I mostly theorized Pearl was not originally Pink's because of the design of her outfit. She has a pink illustration resembling a diamond not far from where Pink's diamond actually is. There's also the fact that in that version especially, her appearance has white, pink, blue and yellow.

Ok, I have a theory (I don't normally have my own theory) so what if gems can grow and Blue and Yellow was also not mature once they popped out. White didnt have time to teach them so had her pearl, CG Pearl, to teach Yellow and Blue how to act like diamonds. This explains why her clothes were different colors, to show that she was with all the other dimaonds before she was passed down to Pink.

Are you going to update this theory with the new episode that came out with white pearl has similarities to Pink. Maybe White took the pearl and changed her for her personality being like the imperfect Diamond. And to help Pink grow, she intrusted her slowly becoming flawed Pearl to Pink. She would be getting a win win. Getting ride of a pearl she no longer wanted to a diamond that needed to grow and to not get involved to make her a better leader.
I'm still going out on a limb here and saying Pink Diamond's original Pink Pearl is locked away in the chest. Or maybe a corruption cure theory, or letters to Steven about her being a diamond and then a quarts. That chest has to have something in it that will be a gasping moment when revealed, or someone, I mean Pink Diamond's shards can't be in the chest anymore since Rose Is Pink Diamond! Tage Robin considering Eyeball said if she took down Rose she would get her own personal pearl, I bet only elite gems get pearls normally because they are high ranking and can afford "luxury" in the form of personal pearl servants. Peridot said Pearl looked fancy, so I'm guessing better made pearls also go to higher ranking gems. For lower ranking or mid tier gems, they likely have to show an extreme amount of usefulness. Example: Eyeball is a simple ruby, but if she captured/killed Rose, she would be considered a useful soldier who could be gifted a pearl as a reward for her service to Homeworld.

It does made you think through, how many pearls are made, since Peridot said there were disposable(forgot her actual words to that). Maybe they are as many pearls as there are Rubies, maybe even more so. Makes you wonder how the non owned pearls are and what they do, it'd be kinda sad to know that they just wait in a room or in their gem till someone claims their very own pearl for themselves.
Tage Robin I agree. How sad would it be to be fired as someone's pearl and have to practically wait to be reassigned because you're not allowed to be independent. I'm not sure either about Peridot's comment on pearls being disposable. I'd assume Homeworld has plenty of pearls, but since pearls are made organically in real life, I'm not sure how costly it is to grow/incubate a pearl for Homeworld. It's really sad but pearls are probably seen as a commodity considering Peridot didn't initially see Pearl as a person/gem and considered her a servant/ornament for other gems.
AxisTrio63 I'd wanna take them all away to earth! They really should explore more about the Pearls and the Rubies and the other "disposable" gems. I bet to many watching the show they see pearls and rubies as normal gems, yet homeworld sees them as paws and purses, I mean it would be a little saddening to see how they are treated if the pearls are treated very poorly, but we've only seen Yellow Pearl, Blue Pearl, and Pearl and yet Pearl(also Peridot) mentions(or feels inside) that pearls are just objects. So far I've only seen Yellow and Blue Pearl act more loyal and somewhat happy to be serving their Diamonds(well yes because they are serving THE DIAMONDS). So maybe there should be an episode where pearls owned by other gems are and pearls that aren't owned yet are(along with rubies and other gems low rank like them or corse).
I think that maybe white diamond thought that she didn't need a pearl because she was so perfect, therefore, when she saw how pink diamond acted, she came to the conclusion that her pearl was part of the problem, so her solution was to give pink diamond her unwanted pearl so that she would straighten out. The ORIGINS that was talked about may be referring to how pearl was changed after serving pink diamond in her own court, therefore not only leading her to change her ways, but also causing pink diamond to trust her with her secret that she was not only pink diamond but also Rose Quartz.

but Rebecca Sugar herself said that no one says "my pearl". The "my" is something you only say to your superiors (ex. "my Diamond"). So Rose saying "My Pearl" may have a whole other meaning.
And I could be wrong about this next point but I think you would say "my Diamond" to all the diamonds. (Like when Holly Blue Agate called both Blue and Yellow "My Diamonds"). There's no doubt that our Pearl WAS Pink's Pearl; the question is whether or not she was Pink's FIRST/ORIGINAL Pearl. Just a thought

What if pearl was a spear pearl in case one of the other diamond pearls are shattered, until a new pearl is made for the diamond in question. That would be why pearl has colors of all four diamond in her appearance.

What if our Pearl was originally White Diamond's pearl (her skin tone, gem color/placement support this), but she was given to Pink Diamond to guide her as she was a new/younger diamond. What if Pink Diamond never had her own pearl, because of her newness and instead was given our pearl to direct her. This would explain why our Pearl doubts Pink diamond. It is clear the other diamonds do not seem to trust Pink Diamond's capabilities, likely based on her potentially defective size and young mannerisms. It would make sense for the diamonds to give her a guide to help her.

I feel like pearl was made by all the diamonds to teach (would explain Pearls obsession with teaching Steven all the time about Gem-kind) all their characteristics of each court (I mean look at her clothes, all court colors) so when she was given to PD she was capable of teaching her values of all the diamonds to help her mature without the diamonds having to physically deal with her all the time (I mean oof look at Yellow's attitude on jungle moon), shes practically been the one who has explained pretty much most things we know about gems.

I think Pearl's line foreshadows something too. "Your status, *my purpose* none of it will matter..." She wouldn't say something like that prior to Pink faking her shattering if her 'purpose' is just to follow orders; If that was the case that purpose would still be fulfilled considering she'll still be following her around, but that isn't the case. It implies that her purpose is something more, something that has to do with Pink as an authority figure. I do agree that it could possibly be that Pearl's purpose is to help Pink mature and become a better leader. Our pearl could have been her advisor, mentor and babysitter all in one. Not just some Pearl to follow blindly.
Or a small theory of mine is that Pearl is a gift from White Diamond to Pink, and that she was Pink’s first Pearl. Something else I’d like to say is that the other Pearls’ pearls are a perfect circle while our Pearl’s pearl is an oval.

It is important to note that in The Answer, the first time pearl is seen she is almost completely white colored with no extra colors added in. I think it might be possible for gems to change the color palette of their physical forms due to it just being made up of light. This could explain why the Diamonds' pearls look so monochrome, and why pearl wasn't always multicolored.

I'm still holding out that Pearl was meant for the Diamond Authority fusion. Her palate is a mix of all 4 colors, her mentioning abandoning their purpose in SPR. I think PD tried to prove she was worthy with her 1st colony after complete rejection by WD for being off color, misshapen, and emotional...even worse than BD. The Diamond Authority symbol shows all parts perfectly the same, so I don't think WDs obsession with perfection is going to plan. We see in Steven that emotions arent bad as they are tied to his powers. I could go on...

This is one of the few theories I fully believe in. Other than what you just mentioned, our Pearl is a very mind-oriented gem. Even from the start, mental ability was her "thing," just like Yellow Pearl is very curt and precise, and Blue is more artistic and emotional.
This plus the mostly-accepted theory about White Diamond having mind powers (as her aspect of the corruption attack) points heavily to Pearl being originally White Diamond's pearl.
Also note in the episode when pearl reforms, we see a form that looks very much different than any outfit we have seen
I think pink made her gems to only love her, and not love the other diamond's the way they love her. I say this because Jasper, who was made by pink, adresses yellow and 'Yellow Diamond' since she probably doesnt respect yellow the way she loved pink.
I do love the idea that our Pearl was a gift from all the Diamonds to Pink, that's why she had all the colors. Pearl was made by White Diamond and the colors on her outfit resemble the care from Blue and Yellow.
I think that Pearl was meant to serve White Diamond but was considered off colour because of her gem being a bit more oval than other Pearls'. So, when Yellow and Blue found out about Pink's Pearl not being sensible (as AwestruckVox said), she was passed on to Pink Diamond as a replacement.

Here's something to wrap your head around. When a gem reforms, the last thing they remember is what happened right before they poofed. Like when Peridot reformed small and she continued what she was saying before she got poofed. "I'm the only one who knows about... ...about the cluster..!"
Now look at what happened when Bismoth reformed, she was a bit scared and got into a fighting stance before realizing where she was. So what exactly *did* Rose/Pink do?

I think our pearl was created with the reason of trying to help pink diamond to be perfect like the rest of the diamonds are. She questions her diamond to possibly introduce her to the opinions and strategies that the rest of the diamonds would have to take care of their colonies so that she does not make any nonsense.
