Another fantastic video, Kaity. Thank goodness that rock didn’t fall on your foot, and hit your car instead.
Thank you so much 😊 And yes, very true!! I didn't even think about that, that wouldn't be a nice time 😂
Paint your glass black . Brings the fish moore beauty
I'm in England but have family in Caboolture, Hervey Bay, Redcliffe (nice fish shop there I remember!), Burpengary and Deception Bay...I've been to Brisbane a few times and remember finding that man made beach in the city a strange thing to come across when you don't expect it haha!
Ohhhh that is so cool!! I'm familiar with all of those places 😄 And yes, we have a little beach in Brisbane City next to the river 🤣
looking Great !!
cant wait to start my tank
That is a Nice tank with awesome rockwork!! Keep the vids going

Thank you so much! 😄
Thanks for making such a nice video and I enjoyed watching it so much. You inspired me to place more rocks for my cichlids. Greetings from the US.
Love it.
Looks fabulous!! You see so many tanks now that have no rock work just fish and sand. Your tank has character. Love the content keep up the hard work.
Thank you so much 😊
Thats a great looking tank Kaity. Keep up the good work
Thank you Robert!! 😊
Wonderful work I enjoy watching your videos😇💖
Thank you!! I appreciate it 😊
WOW ... Kaity you were busy, busy in this video ... You could have made 3 separate videos ... Just love the calm in your tank and how they all watched together when you placed the new arrivals in ... You could make a new cave in the left side of your tank, one that you could view the smaller fish ... Great content as always... Thank You 👏👏👏
I do love to keep busy! 🤣 Thank you so much. I think that's a great idea and would look really nice too
Thanks Kaity the video is great!
Thank you so much 😊
@@Kaityscichlids have you got a Facebook page I'll post some videos of my African cichlids just started keeping them
Cool Video....nice to see fish stores other than in the USA. Looks like a great place.
Your tank is looking fantastic....glad I found your channel and subscribed! 👍

Awesome
Thank you!!
Amazing fish tank 😊😊
Thank you!! 😊
It is very Helpful...thanks a Lot..
From India
I'm so glad to hear that 😊 Thank you 🙏
Howdy from Texas !
I would just go out and collect you some Holey rock and send it to you , but I imagine shipping would be about as much as a new truck !
awesome cichlid tank Kaity.
Hahaha, yes it wouldn't be cheap!! Thank you so much :)
Hi Kaity, Nice fish store. Love the holy rock. Nice addition to your beautiful tank. Looks better all the time! I used fossilized coral I found on Amazon. Similar looking smaller holes. Almost looks like brains! Especially when algae grows on it. I’m torn to clean it or let it go. I like the look both ways.
Hi Brian! Thank you so much :) I really like the way green spot algae looks on rocks, but I didn't like it so much when they had black beard algae on them. If you don't mind the way it looks, I would let it go because the algae is good for keeping nitrates down and the fish like to eat it!
My new fav channel kaity. Love seeing your videos even though I don't have chiclids!! Haha
Cause it's girl power. Your aussie. And there's aquarium fish keeping in it! Yew!!
Hahaha, I love it!! Go Aussies 🇦🇺
Oh yes , n u looks great 👍 too.
good video kaity keep going
Thank you so much 😊
I have those types of rocks so the algae offsets the nitrite nice
Very beautiful tank. Holy Rock just look best for a cichlid tank. Dragon Rock would also be a good alternative.
Hi Kaity great video. You seem to have far more choice of fish than we do here in the UK especially with the Mbuna. I keep Central and South American Cichlids at the moment but would love to have a go at a set up like yours, maybe one day. Stay safe and take care. John.
Hi John, thank you so much 😊 I am getting a new tank which I'll hopefully be keeping some central and south American cichlids in myself
That's a lovely setup and the fish look great. What is the blue one with the white stripe on the dorsal fin that extends over it's head?
Thank you so much 😊 that is an electric blue Fryeri. It is the blue version of the White Knight hap that I have in quarantine
Love MAD aquariums…their fish are gorgeous. Good choice picking smaller rocks…the price of the big ones is scary. I use maple rock as it is lighter, therefore cheaper… and it breaks up well for extra detail…..👌🏽👍🏽
Thank you 😊 they're a great store, I love it there! Yes the rocks are pretty pricey, and super heavy too 😬
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautiful tank! I keep Bettas as well as my community tank, but I’d love to set up a cichlid aquarium one day.
Thank you 😊 And I'd love to have a community tank setup and keep Bettas at some point in the future! 🤣
Gud
Ah cool I was wondering where to get that rock from . I don't live to far from that store so I'll check it out 🙏
That's so handy!! They've got a great selection there 😊
u have a beautiful thank I love it ur number one biggest fan Big Roy lol 😆
Hey Big Roy!! 🤣
Protomelas steveni (Hap). I think you may be mixing it up with one of the afra type zebras referred in the aquarium trade as jalo reef. I enjoy your videos. Don't put too many rocks in, the mbuna will hassle the haps and peacocks as they continue to grow!
Thank you for the tips!
Hello from the states🙃 I think you have a beautiful tank and your fish are cool as well. I think your tank has a saltwater vibe to it. I loved your video on water testing it was very informative, I am thinking of getting a blood parrot as my first chiclid do you think that is a good choice for a first cichlid? Are you going to try to breed your fish? 👍🏻
Hello from Australia! Thank you so much for your kind words 😊 I really like blood parrots, they are beautiful fish and pretty hardy from what I've heard. I would love to get into breeding someday, it's definitely on the cards for the future
Great video . I used to have rocks in my tanks but I hate there r so much poops hiding so I remove it all
Thank you! I use my wavemaker to try blast the poop out of the rocks when I do a water change. But it is annoying how it all gets stuck in there
nice video :) +1
Thank you so much!! 😊
Nice fish tank I’m thinking have these kind of fish. Do I need to cover the top, won’t they jump out of the tank..?
Hi Suresh! 😄 Yes, they definitely do need a lid otherwise they are prone to jumping. I've got two netted lids from NVS Aquariums on mine
How do I get that shadow shimmer from the lights like that, is it specific lights, or height distance from the tank
I think having LEDs with some height above the tank and surface agitation creates it
Had a similar set up but ran into a lot of problems with the fish digging through the sand and causing the Holly rock 2 tip over , How do your fish not dig? No matter how I set up my Holly rock They always dig underneath it and have it Tip over even if it's a single piece.
Dont know What Holy Rock Cost there, but it’s not Cheap here…for the Fish I got” I dont think I need it.. The Aquarium looks great’ as Always..😀❤️✌🏾
Thank you 😊
I've got a predator hap tank all I have is a sand substrate nothing else for large haps I think it's the best way to go as they are open water swimmers
I totally agree! They love their swimming space and feel confident in open water since they're more predatory
Your tank is so neat. What kind of substrate did you use for your tank? Is that a sand or gravel?
Thank you! It's just pool filter sand
Hai kaity...nicely done aquscape but y ur rocks looks green is it because of light r water parameters.
Thank you so much :) They're green because of the algae, it is from bright light and nitrates in the tank
Tank looks awesome,, do you still have the pleco in the tank?
Thank you!! Yes, I've got the 3 bristle nose plecos in there. They're quite big now, but they're good at hiding in the holey rock!
Hi Kaity, hello from Adelaide!
I recently found your channel and am enjoying your vids. I've got a cichlid tank too.
I only discovered texas holey rock via these videos and picked a big piece up this week..it looks great in my tank and my fish love it.
Can I ask whether your fish are all male or are there some girls too?
Hey Mark! It's so nice to hear from another Aussie 😊 Texas holey rock is great, it's got so many benefits, I'm glad that you've found it now! My fish started off as a mix of males and females but I have fed them a colour food called Absolute Colour which impacts the hormones of the females and pretty much makes them males
@@Kaityscichlids Oh wow, that's really interesting re that colour food. My local fish shop said I should only get males so my tank is set up like that. They said that pretty much all Africsn cichlids can and will 'hybridise' (if that is a word) so I'm wondering whether you've seen anything like that?
Thanks for the reply too! I'm now off to try and find some of that special colour up food! :)
Merhaba arkadaşlar çok güzel olmuş bereket versin inşallah
I agree my Mbuna love to dig and hide...
They sure do!!
Nice Stone selection 👌👏. Your tank looks wonderful👌👍😊💯. How to avoid algal growth on glasses?
Thank you so much 😊 it's pretty difficult to avoid algae growth on the glass. Normally your best bet is having an algae eating crew like snails or bristlenose plecos, making sure the lights aren't too bright, and keeping nitrates down
Thanks for the reply. Is it OK to add plecos in cichlids tank? 🤔
@@sethupathysivasamy7499 yes, bristlenose plecos do quite well with them!
Great. Thank you 👍
🥰🥰👍
I'm from S'pore,is nice to watch your beautiful tank n fishes. If u could have more filter types of media it really helps you your tank super clean n clear n give good bacteria n keep fishes safe n peace. Check it up from CZcams more details n helps you alots. Take note.
Thank you so much 😊
👍
😊😊😊
magnifique le bac manque un peux de rock en hauteur sinon parfait
G'day, I think your mystery fish is a protomelas steveni taiwan reef.
That looks like it could be him!
Rather than move anything get 2 more rocks like the one u love. If possible+! U can always move things around again anyime x
😍😍😍😘👍❤️
Thank you 😊
Hallo Kaity, sehr schöne Steine, aber bald ist dein Aquarium zu klein 😲😊
Which lights are you using?
They are freshwater AI Primes 😊
I find the amount of detritus that gets caught under the rocks is too much. What are your thoughts?
I use my wavemaker to blast the detritus out from under the rocks and it has been manageable
@@Kaityscichlids I use a wave maker aswell for the same thing. It does work to a certain degree...
Curious if you have any plans to add a background? If no, is there a reason? Enjoy the vids, I plan to convert my freshwater tank back to cichlids in the future.
Thank you! I didn't put a background on it initially because I really like the low iron glass of the tank and didn't want to cover any part of it up. But I'm considering adding a frosted background to it when I move houses in October
@@Kaityscichlids That’s a big move, I know that tank is heavy. That’s one reason why I’m waiting, as we may be relocating from current US state to another and I want a larger tank before I go back to cichlids. Your tank and fish are beautiful. I think a frosted background or other would make the fish pop even more. Be well!
Have you ever tried plants like valis or Anubis with your cichlids.
I tried valis recently in the tank with no success. I haven't tried anubias but I've heard it work for others
Hi there, beautiful tank, how many gallons?
Thank you 😊 it is about 180 gallons
hi kaity how r u?you know after watching me also chang my cichlid tank rock seting.
I'll have to check it out!
@@Kaityscichlids thanks and u know i make my tank 3d back ground by my self and its take alot of time.plz also tell me how its look like.
How do you cater for the different diets? Mbuna being herbivores?
Hi Phil! I feed them an algae based pellet, as well as a protein/algae pellet, and avoid giving them frozen or live foods like brine shrimp or bloodworms. I did a video a little while back on their foods which I'll link incase you're interested czcams.com/video/i1mH-MR3Pz0/video.html
@@Kaityscichlids Doesn’t Peacocks have a different diet? Just intrigued how you would meet two diverse diet’s, especially as Mbuna will get bloat if they have high protein
@@stucody yes, that's right. I've found it works to use the mix of algae only and algae/protein based foods. Most Mbuna are omnivores so they can handle some protein in their diet, just not too much. Even then though, some like electric yellows, need more protein
Hello friends I am from India
Wonderful your decoration! I like it.
Friend please let me know how many sand used in your tank? And how many days after change the water and how many % of Water?
Hi Guha 😊 thank you so much! I have 100kgs of pool filter sand in the tank. For water changes I have upped it to 80% once per week. You want to try to keep your nitrates below 40ppm, but how quickly your tank gets to that point will depend on how many fish you have and how big the tank is
Thanks
80% 6fit tanks it's not possible for me. I am 63 years old
Can you advise me. My tank is 4x2x2fit.and 35 to 40 piece of angel fish in the tank. How many days after change the Water. And how many sand used in to the tank?
Have you every consider, setting up a saltwater tank why, or why not ?
I have kept a couple of saltwater setups for short periods and love the look of them. I just find that the added maintenance is too much for me, I prefer the simplicity of freshwater
@@Kaityscichlids I was thinking 🤔 about getting a saltwater tank too i find out about maintenance cost
Thank you for your reply I agree with you 100% it seem like it cost a lot to keep up a saltwater fish tank
It looked like a lot of the fish at the store had a sunken belly issue going on.
( Cloning Aqua ) is also an Fish youtube channel.in free time you can Browse it mate.
what size is the tank?
It's 6ft x 2ft x 2ft. It's a Waterbox Clearpro 7225 😊
kaity if you install 3d background your tank looks more natural so yours fish thinks abouts breeding
HOW MANY TIMES YOU FEED YOUR FISH. THANKS
Just twice per day, one in the morning and once at night 😊
Ok. Thanks

HEY I LIKE WHAT YOU AND DOING 👍 HEY DOES LACE ROCK DO THE SAME THING
Thank you 😊 I've personally never used lace rock, but if it is a type of limestone it will raise the pH
@@Kaityscichlids 👍👍
Don't let your fish hear you have a favorite, the others will get an inferiority complex
🤣🤣🤣
Damn cichlids their are so expensive
Are u a Capricorn!!??
I am! 😊
@@Kaityscichlids omg. That guess freaks me out! Just watching u. U reminded me of me!
Super clean. Organised. Methodical. No clutter. Overhinking and a little stressed but because u like order. clean and the tank help clear your mind.
