  • A Chain and sprocket change that I had to start at 10.30pm once I realised how bad the chain was, a big spin was happening the next day so it was on a timeline :) That's why there were less close ups etc than usual, sorry about that but it had to be done :) Hopefully you find the video helpful anyway if you own a CBF!!

    Hi, great explanation. I liked. I have a cbf 1000 from 2006, I have it for 3 years, and it currently has 33000 km, 8000 with the first owner. By the end of April, I intend to change the transmission kit, chain and sprockets. Thanks for the video. Good curves.

    Interesting and enjoyable as ever 😁. I'm now convinced to get a bike shop to do mine for me. I only have the CBF with a chain drive so 80 euros is too much and I'd need a grinder too? Nah, not happening for me 😁. Just out of interest, is fitting an endless chain possible on the CBF?

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 3 lety

      Thanks Mark :) Yeah that's fair really and honestly it's part of why I try show as much as possible always and how long it takes etc. It really wouldn't make sense for a lot of people to go at it themselves unless they just wanted to do it themselves yano. It is I would imagine, they just require taking out the swingarm pivot bar thingy. I wouldn't ever go for one personally.

      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 3 lety +1

      They're actually hard to get the clips now, and I know they're not recommended for high torque applications which makes some form of sense but I know plenty who have used them with no issue.

      @@TheGorillaBiker Yes, It will be really helpful for me. I have adjusted the chain on center-stand, but read somewhere that you should do it in the side stand. But after adjusted the chain on the sidestand (with 25 mm free move), I sat on the bike, and the chain was to tight. So I would love to see a video about this. I have a CBF 2009.

    Hi mate, I'm experiencing issues with shifting. Sometimes it changes two gears at once. Adjusting shifter position didn't help. Should I change chain and sprockets?

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 2 lety +1

      By two gears at once are you getting a false neutral and kicking the shifter again? Or is it skipping a gear with one click of the shifter?
      Is it always the same gear it misses?
      It's definitely not chain and sprockets causing the bike to skip gears unfortunately.

    • @vancuy
      @vancuy Před 2 lety +1

      @@TheGorillaBiker mainly upshifting, to me it changes to 4th instead of 3rd. Could it be worn out clutch?

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 2 lety

      If it's only the one gear it could be a damaged selector either.
      What I'd check is, in order, bleed your clutch(I'm assuming you've a CBF too?), or if not adjust the clutch cable to make sure it's correct.
      Then open up the clutch and inspect the friction plates, measure thickness etc, could be worn out or the springs could be.
      Then try changing gears with no clutch(loads of vids on how to do this) if it still can't get in to that gear you may have gearbox damage.
      Hopefully it's only something small wrong with the clutch :)
      Oh also, how fast are you clicking through gears?

    • @vancuy
      @vancuy Před 2 lety

      @@TheGorillaBiker Thanks for getting back again. I have 2008 CBF. Got back in to riding after 8 years. I am still little rusty. changing gears too fast could be one issue.
      I have lost some skills like rev matching properly. I'll take your advice and try your advice on the clutch.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před 2 lety

      No problem! I have noticed on my own CBF that if I try click up through the gears too quickly it can give a false neutral so that's what it might be!

    Hi. Is it any place in this job that you use locktight?

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Před rokem

      I usually use it on the rear sprocket, one inline 4s I don't use it on the front generally unless the service manual says to.
      V twins I always use locktight front and back.
      Honestly I just go by the service manual normally :)
      I think on this specific bike I only put it on the rear sprocket.
