- More info about traveling the Camino de Santiago: www.ricksteves.com/europe/spa... The Camino de Santiago - literally the "Way of St. James" - is Europe's ultimate pilgrimage route. Since the Middle Ages, pilgrims have walked hundreds of miles across North Spain to pay homage to the remains of St. James in the city named for him, Santiago de Compostela. #ricksteveseurope #galicia #caminodesantiago

It was this very show that inspired me to walk the Camino.
Must be nice. I always wondered what the Camino de Santiago looked like. Thanks for your show and videos.
I traveled along the Camino by bus on a trip through northern Spain… One day I dream about walking it
My dad is walking it right now. Can't wait for me to start. It takes alot of training and time but it's totaly worth it
What adamn fine film. Excellent in just about every way possible. I love the commentary, the music but most of all the fabulous camera work. Well done folks.

Very Nice :)
buen camino, I leave the US may 16th on the way to mine
Come to Santiago and you will return, you can believe it.
400,000 in 2022. In the Middle Ages a million pilgrims a year.
We recorded our experience of the Camino in our channel so that we will never forget how life changing it was.
That depends on if you want to stay in hotels or to camp as you go along most walkers will travel with a tent that way you only have to pay for food and drink.
@delicatecupcake It depends. The Municipal Albergues are 5 Eu per night and private albergues, around 10 Eu per night (some slightly cheaper). Most restaurants have pilgrims menus for around 10 Eu, unless your planing to cook on a daily basis in the albergues, in that case you have to make sure they have a kitchen available. Anyway to be on the safe side, i would count with 300 Eu for every 10 days, but then again i know people that have spend around 200 around every 10 days.
@delicatecupcake It also depends on what type of Camino de Santiago travel plan you have: Begginer, Medium, Advance... if you walk more km per day you will finish faster and their by spend less money, but that means sticking to the plan.
This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
Rick, your show is my sustenance!
The wife and I will begin on September 20th. :-)
hey did you guys ever do it?
Anywhere from 20 to 40 euros a day is what I've read. And if you start in St. Jean, that's about 30 to 35 days of walking. I'm budgeting for 30 a day, and I hope to finish in about 35 days. Hope this helps!
hey people, good job on completing the journey. but i have 2 questions, while you walk the camino i am wondering, do you lose much weight? i am not build very heavy, so i dont like to lose many weight. is it possible to complete the camino without losing too much weight?? i really am planning to walk the camino one of these days in my life but i dont like it if i lose too much weight, thank you very much in advance!! i have respect for the people who did this!
How much money do you need for this trip? I am not talking about the airfare.
