  • Hey everyone! Thanks for tuning in for another video. As the video states, this was a reel that I didn't want to purchase when Daiwa first announced its release. The colorway was boring, the reel old Tatula LT spinning reel sucked and I wasn't sold on the minor things they added to the reel.... and my entire perspective changed when I bought one and started fishing with it! Check it out!

The old Tatula lt is actually lighter than the new mq. Monocoque does increase the weight because the gear and frame are larger.

I stand corrected - in the video I mentioned that the MQ was lighter, the old Tatula is lighter indeed. Knew that going in but fumbled it in the video. Thanks for pointing it out.

Have the 3000MQ-CXH on the Orochi Shakyhead rod. No issues at all. But pretty sure my next spinning reel will be a stradic C2500FM. Creek and river obstacles!

I have the same reel. The D designates deep spool(line capacity) and XH designates extra high gearing.
Love mine. Run chatterbaits, etc and have no comlaints.
I run 12lb Seaguar Invisx on mine.

I wished they kept it all blacked out like my older tatula.

Just pulled the trigger on the 3000cxh, gonna throw it on a Phenix M1 7'2L. Thanks Chewy

Nice looking reel. I like what Daiwa has been doing with their newer releases. The few Daiwas are good, but I dislike how difficult/ costly it is to service them because of their proprietary tool (for MQ) and Magseal tech.

Thanks for watching! And yes, that is something to definitely consider when it comes to servicing the reels. Great when it works but a challenge when you need to service it.

I’ll have to be honest, straight 10lb braided line I had never ran out of line on any 2500-3000 Shimano spinning reel. I don’t think tatula 2500 “D” really makes a difference compared to a Stradic/vanford 2500. If anything it requires me to have more mono backing than the 2500-3000 sizes in Shimano vs Daiwa

    • @helterskelter156
      @helterskelter156 Před 2 měsíci

      Bingo.
Ppl even get spool spacers for the high capacity spools.
Completely overkill, and a waste of line to have deep spools in these smaller sizes.
Shimano knows what they’re doing here.

I live in Wisconsin and also fish for salmon in the fall. I’ve had a handful of moments where my Shimano spool ran out of line on a big king. So depending on the fishing that you do, it is super beneficial to have that line capacity.

@@ChewyThaoFishing I fish for Salmon all year round in British Columbia. King can pool line, especially in heavy currents (ocean and rivers). However, nobody used a sub-3k reel for these large kings.

It's nice to pay extra money for that extra line that never gets wet right? and nice to add weight to the spool with that extra line right? The non-D Daiwa spool is plenty for freshwater already....

    • @ChewyThaoFishing

I live in Wisconsin where salmon fishing is pretty popular on Lake Michigan. I’ve had instances where I ran out of line on Shimano spools in the past when fighting a big king. So yes, the line does get wet!

@@ChewyThaoFishing just from your videos on the channel, you look like a bass fisherman mainly and some musky and walleye. None of those fish will spool your normal none-deep spool... this is a bass fishing reel. I'm sure you have so many reels that you don't have to use a finesse reel like the Tatula MQ for salmon... with how light the Tatula is, it probably doesn't balance well with a salmon rod... Daiwa USA has been keeping the deep spool for so long it's becoming a scam for fishermen to pay for more line. Majority of the people don't need 250 yards of line freshwater fishing...

@@TTangOutdoors Have you ever fished for 30+ lb stripers/salmon from the river bank? My 3K D tatula holds more 50lb braid than my 4K stradic. My lines always get wet going for fish like that. You can't always apply what you do to everyone's fishing environment. Sometimes you just need that deep spool for more yards of a higher pound of line too. It's ok that you're the majority and I, chewy or others are minorities when it comes to deep spools. 90% of the time in fresh water you can't get spooled out if you're on a boat or yak. Shallow spools are probably a scam too right cuz they been making them so long haha. Let me guess, why don't I just get a 4k size instead of the 3K D? I don't want a larger reel & slightly heavier reel. It could throw off the balance of the rod & am not even a balance guy lol personal preference is something we're all afforded in life.

@@BeenFishinSince88 If you really are targeting stripers and salmon, there are better reels than the Tatula MQ for a cheaper price. BG MQ is much superior than Tatula in line capacity, frame material (aluminum) and water sealing capacity. You are using the wrong reel for those fish man... Tatula MQ is a light weight freshwater reel. Stradic is a stronger reel with the aluminum frame. Most people buy the Tatula MQ for general bass fishing. Of course the Tatula MQ is great that it can handle those powerful hard running fish and glad you find the D Spool working for you.
