Glad to hear your thoughts on it Brian. If it gets good remarks from you, people can rest assured that its a good rod. And especially at it's price point, I would say they hit home run with that one. You even got me tempted to pick one up just to try it.

great review! I have a couple of the xts including the new version. They are the best all around $100 rod out there period in my opinion. I also have a couple of tatula rods with the cork grip which is the next step up from the xt. At $150 they can’t be beat. They compare to other companies $250-300 dollar rods as far as sensitivity, light weight and overall quality. Being a budget fisherman I’m slowly switching my whole rod lineup over to tatula.

The previous gen I had 2 7ft med they both snapped in 1/2 on the load on casts about 1/2 way into the rod. Really like the rods though. I do use neoprene rod sleeves and take very good care of my gear. Used them primarily for wacky rig and shakey heads. They are very light and sensitive. Contemplating getting one of the new revamps.

Just got my Tatula XT 7' M/F spinning rod last week. I love it for a low budget rod. I have other much higher end $400+ rods and I'm am very happy with the overall performance/cosmetic of these cheapy rods for not even a 3rd of the cost. I still have some of Daiwa's older rod that came with the first gen x45 bais blank that is meant to prevent blank twist, lighter, and more powerful. The old Harrier and Steez were some of the earlier models that have them blanks. Of corse in Japan they have so much more older rods that came with the same x45/Xwrap rods before US ever seen them. Again a dollar for a dollar, no other companies can't compare to the 22 Daiwa tatula XT and the 22 Shimano SLX rods. Only to get the 22 SLX early was to go to the iCast conventions that passed already to get them from the Shimano booth. Great video review and tight LINES!

Brian I purchased a Rebellion 7'3" MH the blank is thick at the handle area. This rod is uncomfortable (not impossible) to palm even using a Curado 150. The MH rod has a parabolic action I wasn't expecting.
I bought this rod to drag a jigs and Texas rigs when bank fishing but the rod feels more like a crank bait rod. The Rebellion rod is good looking but the rods thickness in the handle is a turn off. Very disappointed! My other Daiwa Rods from $150 Tatula to my Steez are modern marvels. The lightness and styling of the cheaper models in the Daiwa line up made the Rebellion is a disappointment to me.

I am interested in getting the Daiwa Tatula XT 7'6" Extra Heavy. Do you think it would be a good rod for dragging 1/2 to 3/4 oz football jigs, 1/2 to 3/4oz swing head jigs and cranking 1/2 to 1oz jig heads with Keitech swing impact paddletail swimbaits? You kind of alluded to the idea that the rod is kind of tip heavy. Since the 7'6" extra heavy is the longest one in the series, do you think the tip heaviness could potentially be a problem and be cumbersome and fatiguing for working football head jigs over rocks with a 3 o'clock to 12 o'clock tip up rod movement? If you think the rod would be too tip heavy, do you think I should regulate the rod to just fishing jig head swim baits and swing head jigs since you are mainly fishing in a tip down/4-5 o'clock position anyways and therefore can forgive the tip heaviness a bit and not let it be a deal breaker? Do you think the 7'6" extra heavy would work for treble hook baits too or would the tip be too fast?

@@PunchFishing What difference does it make when people are criticizing me? Fact is I do know and experienced some of the best rods in the world. Also, best rod is relative to what you do. To me, best rod has many factors not limited to just quality or performance, performance being first. Where these Daiwas and Shimano lack is quality, namely blank integrity. When buying a rod, you have to also consider feel both in you and in the way the rod handles besides purpose. That said, it takes experience on the water. There is a lot of misunderstanding in this field, even by the professionals. In simple, the best rod sets the hook for you. You don't have to even set the hook. Second best is one that sticks them everytime you go to set the hook, slightly two different thing but same concept.

For the most part, people buy rods out of necessity. Then when they think they're skilled or smart enough, they buy according to hype or personal experiences. In many cases with these Asian rods, they buy solely for the name sake. If you buy rods on these premises, you will do ok, and sometimes have a fair advantage, but you will never become elite. A man who truly knows rods will start at the bottom. That's fact. Same for anything you try to be elite in like boxing or fighting or poker.
