I have been a Shimano reel fan for many years and still am for all my baitcasting applications. However, I am finding the Daiwa spinning reels are quickly becoming my new favorite.
They are great!
While the diawa are nice..the shimano from stradic up have Much better gearing easy to crank under a load…diawa has a long ay to go when it comes to EASE OF CRANKING under load….and shimano slay the line on the spool better making for slightly better casting and less tangle issues with braid
@@fishinfool63 I agree, both great reels with different technology. Shimanos gearing and refinement cannot be beat
Shimano still the king at every price point. Their tech is just years ahead. I thought the fuego was beating my sahara until they both got broken in...22lb drag pressure is great but you should be setting the drag at 1/4 to 1/3 the line weight. Which means you need like 60lb line on the 2500 daiwa. Shimano is just like, yup true. Here's a super smooth felt drag system that won't snap ur 10lb line and it'll also cast farther.
@chuckymystic I have been a fishing guide for over 40 years and Shimano "spinnimg" reels DO NOT hold up to daily abuse. There is not a single Shimano reel in the same price point as the Fuego that is smoother and more resilient. If you like Shimano good for you. Not many guides in NW Florida fishing inshore or on the flats using them.
Have the 2500 on a 2 piece Tatula XT med 7' rod.
Solid setup and very happy with it.
Also worthy of mention is that the Tatula MQ has 2 more bearings than the BG MQ.
Tatula MQ 8+1
BG MQ 6+1
I just bought this reel and it’s INZANE! Casts like a DREAM wowski
Awesome!
Just bought the 3000 Mq and caught a couple decent sized bass. This reel is butter smooth. Sounds weird but working lures I feel more in touch cause I feel like I can feel the bait a little better. But I love the reel so far. First 200.00 spinning reel well worth the money so far
Great to hear that you like it so far!
I'm new to spinning reel fishing. I just bought the MQ LT3000D-CXH. Will it create a problem with the reel if it is occassionally submerged in fresh water (not salt water)?
I have 9 of the older model, I’m hoping this new model is just as good. I was devastated when they stopped making the Sol and the good Fuego. The tatula filled in wonderfully.I’m glad I loaded up on the original tatula spinner. Hopefully this new one is every bit as good. Thanks for the review.
You're welcome!
What’s wrong with the new fuegos?
I own the Daiwa CW series of baitcasters... They are very impressive reels with innovations that actually mean something on the water.
This Daiwa offering initially sounds impressive with all of the technology and hype, and it looks like a piece of jewelry, but I don't see any real world improvements that would mean anything or make my fishing experience any better. I would like to see a video on the water that would prove otherwise.
Thanks for the feedback! Once we have a chance to get out and use this and test it out, we are planning a full video!
Sabes por que la versión de Asia solo soporta 5kg y la versión de usa 10kg de freno? Y que diferencia hay entre el modelo( fc lt2500 vs lt2500). Que significa (FC) ?
Just bought the 2500. A touch heavier than the LT model but not that noticeable. Bought it for fresh water use only. I do like my BG MQ a lot. I do like Aluminum body reels for bigger fish but I’m sure these would handle most situations. Reel feels more like a 2000 compared to BG 2500 MQ. I may still get the Stradic FM because of how strong it feels in comparison but that wouldn’t be much if any of an upgrade from the fantastic BG MQ. I just wouldn’t want to take this reel to salt water as I’m not sure about the overall sealing even with MQ design.
Where do the washers in the MQ LT1000-DH box go?
I like the air bail, especially for night fishing due to feeling
Sounds good!
Does this reel have magseal at the AR clutch?
Does this particular bail have a noticeable click when it’s opened & closed? Sounds trivial but for me it’s the difference between a clean cast and a lure flying back at me

Very nice. What rod and action are you going to pair the 3000 with?

I have a sizing question. Are all the reels 2500 and up based on the same 2500 platform with just bigger rotors and spools? I see the models are 3000C and 4000C, whereas it looks like the Ballistic MQ comes in a different 3000 size since it has no compact designation. Debating between the two and want to make sure I understand the sizing in the different models.
Great question! Please visit the full blog on our website here bit.ly/3mv9p7d and post your question. That way, Justin can respond directly to it.
I may buy one of these, but it’s tough when I already have five of the previous Tatula LTs. I guess my dad might finally get one of my Tatulas to use instead of his Exceler LTs for bass and trout lol.
Can't ever have enough!
What is the difference between the 3000 and 3000D ? Thanks for the great video.
You're welcome. The difference is line capacity. If you have any other questions or need more information, please visit the blog on our website and post there. That way, our team can respond back directly to you. You can find it here: bit.ly/3mv9p7d
Can you compare the Tatula MQ LT vs the Procyon MQ LT... every fisherman I know is intrested in both of these!
We've added that to the list for the future! Thanks for the suggestion.
@@SaltstrongI agree we need a Procyon mq vrs tatula mq vid

This reel is heavier than the lt version. I have the 2500xhlt version and it weighs 175 grams, however this reel in the same model weighs 190 grams. Does the air drive design really weigh this much? Is it something else? I made sure, and these models are exactly the same (2500DXH)

Yea the mq is a big heavy gear. I almost bought the old version cuz it was so light, but no mag seal....not worth it.
Sweet! Suitable for saltwater applications?
No doubt!
the handel have a bolt for change a knob ?
Yes!
Why would I choose the mq Tatula over the MQ BG or vise versa? 3000d Thanks
There are different components within each reel. The Tatula is a specialty reel better for specific situations. The BG MQ is an all-around reel that can be used at anytime for any fish!
@@Saltstrong what specific situations for the Tatula?
What’s the difference between the two 3000 size?
The sizes are 1000, 2500, and 3000. If you have any other questions, please visit the full blog on our website and post there. That way, Justin can respond directly back to you. You can find it here: bit.ly/3mv9p7d
Is the 2000 good to use 6 or 8lb mono?
You can find the specifications here: fishstrong.com/products/daiwa-tatula-mq-lt-spinning-reel?variant=43868102164654
Diawa does not classify this as a saltwater reel. Do you know why? Lot of money for a reel that may not hold up in saltwater over time
What is the difference between this and the Procyon mq
Price and quality of the main gears. Tatula MQ also has more seals.
Wow I like it
It's nice!
Can any1 tell me what the 4 packaged washers are for?
The washers on the reel are extra protection to keep sand or water out of the inner gears.
@@Saltstrong thanks but where do they go?
drive gear zink or alloy?
Here's the details fishstrong.com/products/daiwa-tatula-mq-lt-spinning-reel?variant=43868102131886
Is this one for saltwater
It can be used for saltwater or freshwater
What's the Difference between xh and cxh ?

Chx is a compact version of spool
Dawia tatula vs shimano stradic fm?
We can make a video soon!
Update: Putting ceramic bearings in the handle and shimming it all out, it's very bad ass sensitive smooth casting reel. Absolutely light and great performer.
Reel has a lot of handle play/slop. Had to shim it. 😒
Also lame they used an E-clip on the bail. Not ideal for reel teardown or repair. Also too much play slop too. Needed to be shimmed with .11mm shims. 🙁
All else is nice. 😁
Thanks for the feedback
No mag seal. Why? They put it in the BG MQ and even less expensive Fuego. Bad decision by Daiwa. I can’t see many wanting this reel for salt water when they can spend less for better sealing
BG MQ does not have Magseal. You have to jump to the Ballistic MQ to get it.
Also the Tatula MQ has 2 more bearings than the BG MQ.
Really hoping this isn't true, but hearing that these reels use zinc drive gears. That is pitiful if true at this price point. Even the lesser brands life Abu and Lew's offer brass and aluminum at the $150 price area. Really love Daiwa, and the Certate offers aluminum, but these reels should have it too.
I personally like the look of the older tatula. All black looked way better
Thanks for the feedback
Everyone is saying the handles are having alittle play and loose in the models..are you experiencing the same same thing..lol
We have not experienced this
From DAWAI to your own fishing rods, lures and soft plastics... one big self sponsored sales pitch. It's so "in your face" you have to be drunk not to see it.
We sell many brands in our Tackle shop and use those products. We don't just promote Salt Strong products.
They aren’t even sponsored by Daiwa. They carry penn as well and used to with shimano probably bringing them back. They carry other stuff besides the salt string lures as well. And of course they have to promote some things they are running a business.
